Quiet and secluded escape on the banks of the Withlacoochee River

Bedrooms 2
Property type house
Minimum Stay 14 nights

About the property

2 bedroom (king and two singles), one bath, modern kitchen, screen porch

The RIVER HOUSE (built in 2001)sits on the quiet banks of the Withlacoochee River, well protected from the hustle and bustle that most of us try to escape from. The property is four acres of oak hammocks and native vegetation that is cleared enough for a peaceful walk and bird watching but also maintained in a way to give the house plenty of privacy.

The river is great for swimming, canoeing, kayaking and fishing (bass, pan fish). However, most guests prefer to just sit on the porch, dock or swing and watch the river flow on by.

The house has plenty of windows, ceiling fans throughout, central heat/air, washer, dryer, linens, appliances and kitchen utensils, outdoor grill and use of canoe or kayaks.

We stayed for a month at the Riverhouse. It is exceptionally clean and is a fully equipped home. Quiet, peaceful location at the end of a secondary road and directly on the Withlacoochie River. Within minutes of a grocery store, restaurant and golf course. Ron, the owner, promptly answered any questions that we had. Very enjoyable, relaxing vacation,

The River House

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the River House the months of December 2015 and January 2016. It was very peaceful. Loved watching the water foul and other wildlife. Lots of things to do around the area. Loved having coffee on the screened in porch. The owners are fantastic. Oh so friendly. Loved having the washer and dryer. Everything was there for any need except of course food. The River House was very clean and looked so new. It was easy to travel around Florida and easy to get to the airport. Our grandson visited and he loved the fishing. I was so happy to see that it was even better than the pictures and description that was on the internet.

Little bit of heaven

  • 5 of 5

We spent the month of March at the beautiful River House in 2015. What a great place. We loved having coffee and meals on the screened-in porch listening to the birds and having a gorgeous view of the river. Lots of fantastic paved trails for walking and biking were nearby. Tennis courts in Brooksville. The place was clean and spacious. The owners, welcoming and helpful. I'll miss soaking my feet in the refreshing river during cocktail hour. It was always a pleasure to return to the River House if away for the day.

Better than expected

  • 5 of 5

This place was clean and very well cared for and almost new. The river was close by the front screened deck, and there was lots of peace and quiet. We were exploring the river in the boats provided and had a great time. We even saw an otter playing. Fishing was fun, the river is swimable, but was a bit cool when we were there. Every thing was even better than we expected. The owners were wonderful always helpful if needed. There is dish tv, but no way to get on line, but that can be part of the escape too. Loved our time there.
