A long review but there are so many positives to note!
This was a perfect villa for our first family holiday to Turkey. We had identified Kalkan as an interesting place to visit, and Kalamar where the villa is situated, about a twenty minute walk to the west, a good place to base ourselves. It could not have been better!
From our first contact with Haidee, the villa owner, to having our deposit returned after the holiday, Haidee was prompt, helpful, clear, accommodating etc - spot on.
We arrived at the villa close to midnight, to be greeted with a "welcome pack" to ensure that we had something to eat a drink before bed - really appreciated the wine! The views across the bay upon waking were stunning.
A short walk to the nearby shop has everything you will need.
The nearby - 3 mins walk(?) to the beach club at Kalamar was loved by our kids.
There are numerous trips to do throughout the fortnight - again all brilliant.
The local restaurant called HOUSE is superb.
The villa pool is cleaned every day. The villa is well furnished and has every conceivable extra. Each bedroom has an ensuite with a further ground floor shower and toilet.
From our perspective you could walk into town, or you could just spend £4 on a taxi. We liked the fact that the villa was not in the centre of Kalkan, it was very peaceful at night.
It is fair to say that we were very disappointed to have to leave and most certainly will be back. A great pace to holiday. Thanks Haidee.
This is a really nicely furnished villa in a quiet part of Kalkan. The beach club at Kalamar Bay is only a matter of minutes away by foot and if the steep hill is too much for you at the end of the day they will give you a lift back in the complimentary transport. We visited every day and the nice thing is that the kids can come and go as they please as it's so close.
Villa Azura has everything you can think of, including a stunning view from the rooftop terrace.
The owner gave us clear instructions to find the property, was quick to reply to any emails and we had no issues at all with our stay.
We enjoyed the most wonderful week at beautiful Villa Azzura. The Villa is beautifully appointed and positioned to take in the breathtaking views of Kalkan Bay.
I'm still dreaming of sitting on the rooftop terrace every evening and drinking in the wonderful view as the sun sets. We will definitely return!
Our stay at Villa Azura was fantastic. Located on a hill with a spectacular view of the sea and mountains, this well-equipped, modern and nicely decorated villa provides the perfect stay for families with children and teenagers. The owners are very friendly, responsive and provided us with lots of useful information before we arrived in Kalkan. There is no need to repeat what is listed in the accurate description of the villa. But, the baby chair, fully-equipped kitchen and the pool-side barbecue were the most convenient of all for our family. The pool was a lot of fun for our children during the day. The terrace was a relaxing escape with beautiful views in the evenings (and sparkling stars in the nights) for the adults in our party. The villa is a 5-minute walk to Kalamar Beach (perfect for diving and swimming but not so kid-friendly), and 15-minute drive to Kaputa? Beach (one of the most beautiful beaches in the area despite the 180+ step stairway). Patara is a must see and it is worth spending the entire day with its long and sandy beach. We also recommend Kalkan Beach in downtown, as well as Büyük Çak?l (Big Pebble) Beach in Ka?. Ka? is about a 40-minute drive and has a variety of shops and restaurants to offer. The only issue we note is the lack of recycling in Turkey. We would love to be able to compost and recycle a majority of our trash but there was simply no system in place. We hope the town officials in Kalkan will take action soon. In conclusion, with its location and all the amenities to offer, Villa Azura is a rare gem in Kalkan. We will definitely consider going back in the future.
We had a wonderful holiday at Villa Azura, a beautiful modern villa in a quiet residential district.
Heidi was incredibly helpful with our booking and answered all my questions very quickly and efficiently. The travel company she recommended for our transfers were great.
The house is beautifully furnished and extremely well equipped - a real home from home. We visited a couple of the local restaurants and also ate in Kalkan itself. We got taxis into Kalkan as the temperature was in the mid 40's and we couldn't face the walk in the heat! You just phone whilst you are finishing your drink on the roof terrace and they usually turn up in 5 minutes - very easy.
Thank you Heidi we had a lovely holiday.
Kalkan, described as Turkey's best kept secret, is a small, sophisticated resort set on the Turkish Mediterranean Riviera. The town nestles on the foot of the Taurus mountains and was once a small fishing village, it is now a charming holiday resort consisting of colorful cobbled streets, white washed houses, interesting shops and harbourside restaurants. It provides all the necessary amenities. There are supermarkets, a post office, banks with ATM machines, a medical centre, chemists, dentists, internet cafes, and a wide assortment of shops selling everything from Turkish rugs, traditional clothes, jewelery, souvenirs etc, to modern boutiques and leather shops. There is a market every Thursday which sells all sorts of local produce, teas, spices, pottery. One of our favourite things to do is charter one of the boats in the harbour for the day. Many archaeological sites including Patara beach & ruins, Kekova, Saklikent Gorge, Xanthos, Letoon, and many more, all close to Kalkan.
