Total Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Our family rented both of the villas at Pelican Beach in North Caicos. It was the perfect vacation, total seclusion, relaxation. Great location for kids. What more could you want.

If you want a true island experience, rent one of these villas and just hang out. We have never done a vacation like this

and I have to say we will go back.

The locals of North Caicos are so welcoming and down to earth, met new friends on the island and Regine the property manager is one in a million, she truly takes care of you while on the island.

Best Vacation Ever, Thanks Kelly and staff

Incredible trip!

  • 5 of 5

This trip was absolutely incredible and the Pelican Beach Villa #2 was even better than expected. Patti, the local house manager was great. Our group of 6 (3 couples) had plenty of room and privacy. The island is remote and lacks a lot of modern conveniences, but has some of the most beautiful secluded beaches we have ever seen. We went to a different breath taking beach every day and we were the only people there. Things to We took away from our trip: You definitely need a car and a sense of adventure, beer is expensive $52/case and liquor +/- $34 a bottle, every belonger we met was friendly, the island is safe and we didn't see any signs of crime. Don't be afraid to take your rental car down the narrow path what lies at the end will be amazing!

Beautiful Location & Private

  • 5 of 5

The beach house is a great location. You have a great view of the ocean. I cant say enough about the location. The pictures do not lie. Rooms were nice and clean. Kitchen was huge and very nice. Regine & Patty were very helpful in telling us the places to see, things to do, and places to eat. Everyone is very friendly. If you are looking for relaxation in isolation with a few friends this is an ideal location. You may not see anyone else on the beach the whole time you are there. You can walk on the beach from the house to horsestable beach, which I did, and I didn't see a single person. White sand beach, clear turquoise water, and no people. What more could you ask for. They have kayaks you can use on the property and its a great ride out.

Only downside is the drive off the main road. The road to the house is dirt and sand. When you rent a car it would be a good idea to get a 4x4 or truck. We had a small car and it got stuck in the sand one night. Regine was so helpful with this though. Her and her husband came and pulled us out. Couldn't ask for more.

The area is so safe that you did not have to lock your doors. We did anyway being from the United States, but it was true. They dropped off our rental car at the house(I didn't specify 4x4, my fault) and left the keys in the ignition. We were sleeping when they came by so they just left it there for us. They found us the next day at the market and that's when we paid. No rental contract, no vehicle inspection. Just leave the keys in the car at the dock when you leave. That was great! So laid back.

Do listen to the other renters and get food in Provo before you get on the ferry, at least meats. Also, make sure to see Howard at Last Chance Bar for the best rum punch anywhere in Turks & Caicos. Its so good that I copied his recipe when I got back home and everyone loves it. Its a secret recipe though. The ferry ride may be 30 minutes, but the view of the ocean on the way is great. Enjoy the ride. Do bring bug spray. There is brush around the house and all over the island. You will get bit even with bug spray. Bring cortisone with you. Mosquito's and no-see-ums, but its all part of the adventure. Also, if you are looking to ride scooters here, they don't do that on this island. You would have to do that on Provo, more paved roads.

Also, you can snorkel right in front of the house. You can see some nice fish, even a ray, but the best will be on a snorkeling trip to the reef.

Villa in Paradise

  • 3 of 5

This is a remote villa on N. Caicos which is paradise but relatively isolated and thus well suited for intimate couples & families. Bring books, card games, and an iPhone for music (bring a converter for the iPhone5).

If the next door villa is occupied, you will see and hear neighbors close by who share the kayaks and the little deck which leads down to a rocky beach and ocean access. Bring water shoes to walk down to the beach and cross the rocks to the pristine beach adjoining the property.

You really need to rent a car (4x4 preferable) if you plan to leave the villa to drive around the island, including to Middle Caicos. Many roads are simply sand, including the road to/from the villa from the main road.

There is a small grocery store near the villa but you will want to buy specialty items and even chips on Provo before taking the ferry to N. Caicos. You will have to drag your groceries onto and off the ferry to get to the villa (there is a small surcharge to bring boxes of groceries on the ferry). We paid $10 for 3 small boxes in addition to the $25 per person one way ferry ride to N. Caicos.

There is a liquor store on N. Caicos (closed Sundays) but the gas station next door is open on Sunday and has beer. Convert bagged ice into drinking water (the bottled water tastes bad).

The restaurants on N. Caicos are hit and miss sometimes open sometimes closed; many of which you need a reservation just so that they know to expect you or have provisions to cook for you. We enjoyed Miss B's and My Dee's but were out of luck when it came to lobster which was out of season in mid May.

Bring bug spray with deet! Bring a first aid kit- we didn't see any drug stores. We did encounter some unpleasant pests, namely roaches, so be prepared if you leave any doors open, they will scurry in.

Make or initiate contact with local people before you arrive on island to go on snorkel, dive, fishing, boat excursions as it is somewhat difficult to meet/reach people once on island unless you run into them in person. We spent days snorkeling, diving, and fishing off boats with Big D of One Stop Sporting Shop. Big D is a great tour guide and knows everything and everyone on island; he is so friendly and made our vacation truly special. We are avid divers and dove off Provo during this trip- there's no comparison- the snorkeling & diving off N. Caicos is pristine and full of life making the diving we did off Provo a waste of time and money. This trip was an adventure!

most relaxing vacation ever!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here 4/19-4/26/14 (4 adults)and enjoyed everyday! We made friends with the locals everywhere we went. The villa was wonderful and the view breath taking. We took a tour ourselves to Middle Caicos to Blue Horizon, the caves, 3 Mary Cays, plantation, bottomless pond and to see the flamingos. We also rented a boat and went snorkeling, saw awesome fish. Had the best conch at Last Chance and Miss B's. Many drinks were consumed at The Barracuda as well as at the villa on the deck over looking the ocean. Beaches there are the best!!!We arrived at 4p on Sat. and we're completely relaxed by 6p while enjoying our beautiful pool!!!

Perfect beach house. Luxurious views. Lush greenery. Rocky beach but beautiful beach 5 steps away in either direction. Simply breathtaking. All amenities in house. Towels, utensils, wifi, Shelly in Provo and Spot on North were very sweet and accommodating. The locals were amazing too. Bring food from Provo even though local stores have limited selection more choices in Provo. Pack a cooler from home and rent a jeep (nothing else) and explore the beautiful island and Middle Caicos and beyond. Amazing week away from it all. Best vacation of our lives. Kayaks on site. Bring snorkeling gear, dive on Provo not North though. Bring plenty of bug spray. One liquor store on the island. Most restaurants open for lunch not many for dinner unless you make reservations. Must go to Mujin harbor in Middle Caicos. Sorry my thoughts are all over the place but I'm still so excited from this last week!!!!
