If you are looking for peace and quiet in a remote area of southern Oregon, this is the place for you. The Riverhouse is about 40 miles from the nearest town and has an expansive yard on the river with picnic tables, a grill and lots of chairs outside. Inside is spacious, with an excellent master bed, an acceptable, small bathroom (lots of hot water) and a very workable kitchen with more than enough equipment. When the weather is good, it is a good base for exploring the area and hiking trips to Crater Lake. Unfortunately, after 2 days of beautiful weather, it turned cold and we had rain, snow, sleet and hail and were more or less housebound for a couple of days. In that situation, a good TV with cable, maybe a DVD player and a better radio would have been welcome. We were warm enough with all the the space heaters in the house and were certainly able to cook our meals with no problem but we had come for Crater Lake and it was a shame that it was lost to the fog and snow. This is, of course, no fault of the house, which is very comfortable. Tim was wonderfully kind, offering us warm clothes, suggestions about where to go and continually checking to make sure we were OK. All in all, a good experience. Next time, we will bring warm clothes.
