About the property

2.4 Story, 1 Bedroom + Loft - 3 Bed Fairytale Space with a Treehouse View

Enjoy a relaxing time away in our whimsical "Cobbage" (Half Cabin, half Cottage) where over the bridge and into the woods takes to you to a 2.5-story, 1 bedroom (3 bed)1.5 bath fairytale house with deck and view overlooking a 4-story treehouse, gazebo and pond...

Custom built space (by mother/daughter/father trio) with eco-friendly sustainable materials for a clean, serene, relaxing time in this humble abode. The Cobbage is tucked away in what feels like the woods in the middle of Microsoft suburbia and it pairs nicely in the morning with fresh coffee/tea on the rocking chair porch while relaxing to the melodies of the birds. Nice quiet space with nearby park cheer from time-to-time and a trail around the tree and through the woods for evening strolls.

This is a dog loving property with friendly neighborhood pooch's hanging out always trying to make new friends and get fat off treats, so if you are afraid of dogs, please give us proper notice so we can accommodate your needs or meet ours and learn to love them. :) Full kitchen amenities and then some for the travelers looking to pack light (post booking we'll send you the available to borrow kitchen tool list!) and have all the comforts of home, including the crockpot should you need it.

Right on the border or Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, this space is ideally located for Microsoft home-away-from-home travelers and just a hop-skip-and-a-water-jump-across-Lake-Washington from Seattle.

This is a space where the upstairs is the bedroom and downstairs kitchen + hangout. The bedroom comes with a dreamy loft and twin day bed (that can convert to a nice big queen) all within the same air-space as the queen main bed. So if you plan on having up to 5/6 people stay (family) you'll be bonding! Bring your story books (some provided of course) and games and ear plugs if you're planning on sharing the space with heavy breathers - we do provide noise makers aka heater fans to help drown out the snorers. :)

Please note: This house is a semi-art project and created with too much love which means it has lots of character building imperfections (some of which we will continue to improve and some are just too cute to not leave as is) created in pursuit of the user experience and functional design dream. Expect lot's of "character". There are many areas that could be better and we'll continue to improve them as we can invest in them. In the interim, we're just going to giggle and marvel and dream at their imperfections and finishing carpentry faults. We appreciate your feedback and support by staying with us and look forward on sharing our whimsical space with you! We'll always be improving and making the experience more fun, so come visit as watch us grow and improve the grounds to share more so the abundance with our new visiting friends and supporters! About Jennie Rondel

Family-loving, passionate problem-solver here who loves to share and empower others. So happy to share the "Cobbage" with others to enjoy.

Bit more about me: Love to travel, meet new people, see cool things and learn new stuff while enjoying life to its fullest. Love to make sustainable (upcycled, repurposed) stuff and do purposeful things and building with my hands (arts, crafts, houses, etc.) and really just a big kid at heart.

We're doing stuff socially on the tweet platform, pin board of interests, insta and book of face as @embracingwhimsy for creative design and project management and for our treehouse project @redmondtreehouse

Jennie Rondel purchased this cottage in 2003

Why Jennie Rondel chose Grass Lawn

My father and brother started this building when I was away at college (Santa Clara University) as a way to entice me to come home (from CA-WA). And it worked. My Ma and Pa and I with help from family friends and occasional hired specialty hands designed and built the space from the heart and through our own imaginations and needs/wants. It's a special place to us and we're excited to be able to share it with others!

What makes this cottage unique

All custom. Completely one-of-a-kind and whimsical. We really built this space thoughtfully and tried to capture all the beauty we could find and package it up into an experience you can sit down and enjoy and relax in. From the extra insulation to allow for cooler warm nights and warmer cool days to the all pine interior from local PNW sources and quick gas starting fireplaces for added relaxation. We didn't cut corners (seriously I'm still paying things off) and we prefer to invest in the quality of an experience on down to organic sheets and plant-based cleaners. We care inclusively and are having a lot of fun sharing and caring! You won't find us using chemicals if we can avoid it and we spend big bucks for our composting garbage bags. We actually care about you and the environment and will be continually improving and investing in both for a more enjoyable experience (like think water filtering wheel, clean fish pond, sustainable energy and waste cutting technology!)

Quaint and Quirky

  • 5 of 5

Want to feel like you are in a cabin or tree house in the mountains? Then this is the place for you. Very quiet, but close to downtown Redmond. We had a relaxing stay. The trails to and around Grass Lawn Park are really nice.

Charming Cabin

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing place. My family visiting the UK had the pleasure of staying here for a few days. We checked in after dark, and immediately felt at home in this lovely cabin. In the morning what a delightful surprise to see the pond, treehouse and other structures. Hard to believe we were in Redmond.

We really enjoyed our stay, and certainly a highlight for my family.

An extraordinary stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four stayed two nights while visiting the Seattle area. It is about a 20-30 minute drive into the downtown area. However, it is near coffee, grocery, parks and more. We loved everything about this place from the fairytale like setting to the small touches that included basic kitchen items, games, puzzles, books and at home feel. This is not a sterile, white linen hotel so if you are looking for that, probably not your place. It was very tidy and clean. Our kids loved running around, playing with the resident dogs and it was a relaxing oasis for the adults. We had a bonfire next to the pond and enjoyed stargazing. Lovely owner and property. We highly recommend this place for a extraordinary experience!

Adorable, comfortable, serene lodging

  • 5 of 5

We loved our recent stay in the "Cobbage" in Redmond, WA. It was in a great location- central to lots of things on the Eastside, and right next door to an incredible park. Our three kids loved the house, with all of it's nooks and crannies, and there was plenty of room for a family of five (open concept). Kitchen is well stocked, and all the details are considered for guests. Loved talking with the owner about all of her dreams and plans for the property. We hope to return one day very soon!
