|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Looking to get away from it all? This beautiful lakefront cabin adjoins corps property 100 feet from the water's edge, providing spectacular views from every room in every season, is also 100 yards from a beach and boat ramp. Relax and enjoy Lake Tenkiller, one of the deepest, clearest lakes in Oklahoma.
This cabin has 3 bedrooms, with a king-size bed in the master. There is a queen-size bed in a second room, and two twin beds in the third bedroom. The king and queen rooms each have their own adjoining full bathrooms. The twin room has an adjoining half bath. This home is perfectly suited for one or two families looking for a lake getaway, as well as the couple looking for a quiet weekend away.
There is a full kitchen with a stainless steel oven and glass stovetop, full-size refrigerator, microwave. We have a variety of kitchen utensils, as well as a Kuerig and a coffee pot. There is also a washer and dryer. In the family room you will find a 50' flat screen tv with DIRECTV and a bluray disc player. The kids twin room has a 27' TV with its own bluray player.
The deck provides stunning views of the water 100' away, as well as gorgeous views of fall foliage on the hills surrounding Lake Tenkiller. There is a gas grill provided with propane.
Directly across the cove from the cabin is Snake Creek Marina and State Park. Here, you can rent a boat and/or a slip, as well as get gas. You can also enjoy lunch or dinner at the marina's restaurant on the water. Live bands play on a floating stage every Saturday night in the summer.
The boat ramp and rocky beach are less than a 100 yard walk from the cabin. There, you can launch your boat, skip rocks, fish, or swim. We have seen LOTS of wildlife at our cabin! A doe and her two fawns are known to frequent the deer feeder behind the home, as are a raccoon, ground hogs and chipmunks. The deer also like to swim from our banks over to nearby islands. We are always sad when it is time to leave our relaxing home-away-from-home. We hope that you find the rest and relaxation you need during your time here, as well!
We are a family of four who loves spending time together outdoors. We grew up going to Tablerock Lake in Missouri, where Matt's grandmother lived on the lake. When we moved to Oklahoma, we searched to find a lake where we could share similar memories with our children.
Matt Bowler purchased this house in 2012
We have spent time on many Oklahoma lakes since moving here in 2006, but only Lake Tenkiller could match the rolling hills and deep, clear waters of Tablerock. It is very difficult to find homes on Tenkiller that are waterfront due to the stringent Corps of Engineers guidelines. When we found this home, we knew we had found a rare gem. The dock road dead-ends, so there is little traffic and lots of wildlife... perfect for explorers young and old.
You cannot find a home closer to the water or a boat ramp on Tenkiller as our deck actually overhangs the Corp of Engineers lake property. This unique location provides unparalleled access to the water and a boat ramp. The east side of the home is nearly all glass providing spectacular sunrises in the morning and beautiful views of the sun on the mountains in the evening. Deer and other wildlife roam the hill behind the cabin.
We stayed at Old Matt’s Cabin and loved it!! We are from California and found this charming resort home online. We were very pleased when we walked through the doors. The home is decorated very nicely and we felt right at home. The beds were also very comfortable too. The first evening of our stay was amazing as a couple of deer were looking right at us while we were having dinner. The view of the lake from the deck was also amazing…..We plan to stay at Old Matt’s Cabin again one day ( : We already miss it!!! Thank you Matt and Carrie for welcoming us into your home. We had a fantastic vacation!!!"
The lake cabin was about 30-40 yards up the hill from the water and appears to be 30-35 years old. It has had some remodel work done and was clean. The owner was responsive and easy to work with. We did have some trouble with one of the toilet floats getting stuck both up (toilet would not fill) and down (water kept running when full). We stayed at the cabin in late December, so there were very few people around and many of the local restaurants were closed. However, this was expected and we had a quiet getaway with family. There was a short 1 mile hiking trail not far from the cabin that was very pretty. I think it would be a good place for a summer trip to the lake.
This was a beautiful place to stay and relax. I would recommend it to anyone looking to take a break from the daily grind. The only two minor complaints I had were with the parking and the lights in the master bed/bath room. The only place to park was underneath an acorn tree. It wasnt a good feeling hearing acorns pelting your vehicle. The lights in the master bathroom are only operable through the master bedroom lights. to avoid waking up my wife, I used the guest bathroom. Again, these are minor complaints and they would not keep me from returning a second time.
We stayed at the Cabin in Oct 2016 and QUIET was the most positive attribute. We heard nature sounds of birds, rain, crickets, frogs, and a few boats on the lake. The Cabin is beautiful and well maintained. Directions were helpful and address entered into IPhone guided us in to a well isolated Cabin. Three adults and 5 children under 5 years of age had lots of room with 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bath and a deck across the front overlooking the lake. Owner even placed netting on railing around deck for additional safety of children. Nice touch! They provided a notebook of interesting sites and restaurants but one should call to confirm hours of operation. Many places were closed in our off season visit. Everyone we talked to was warm and Oklahoma Friendly. Even rented a nice pontoon boat from a closed marina to give the children their first boat ride. We are planning our next visit to this area! Thank you to the owners for sharing their Second Home!
Our family spent the week at Old Matt's Cabin recently and it was a great VRBO experience. The cabin met all of our needs. Matt was helpful by answering multiple questions I had for him prior to the trip and even during. A BIG storm took place during our stay and he help us by providing alternate driving instruction to the cabin due to fallen trees along the usual route.
The house had lots of amenities, which made the stay extremely comfortable. Be sure and spend time on the deck watching the lake in the early morning and evening time, sure to be a relaxing experience.
Matt and Carrie have compiled a binder with menus, various attractions close by, and local emergency contact information. This binder came in handy during the storm.
We would certainly recommend this cabin.
Our first impression on walking through the front door was great! The layout of the cabin was perfect for a family of 6. It felt like it could've been our own lake cabin - peaceful, accommodating, well equipment and relaxing. Location to trailer parking and boat ramp was very convenient. After a day on the lake we were able to come back "home" to eat, relax on the deck overlooking the lake while the kids played games. Dinners were a pleasure to prepare in the well equipped kitchen and the cabin layout made it easy for everyone to visit while cooking. Sleeping arrangements couldn't have worked out better. It was an AMAZING family vacation and we can't wait to come back!
We loved our stay at Old Matts Cabin! The house was clean and spacious with a wonderful deck that truly does have a spectacular view. We can't wait to go back!
Located in the Cato Creek across the cove from Snake Creek Marina & State Park, you will find ample opportunities to engage in all of your favorite watersports from morning until dusk. If you prefer, evenings spent on the deck overlooking the water are equally delightful.
