Our single story villa in Harbour View is moments from Jolly Harbour and the beach. 2 King-size beds both with en suites, 2 twins, and a family bathroom. All rooms have ceiling fans. Central A/C, with cable TV, & Wi-Fi. Fully kitted kitchen with dish-washer, washing machine/drier and American sized fridge freezer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster & ample cooking utensils and pans.

Fully furnished with towels/linens provided, and a weekly maid service, which can be as frequent as daily if required. The property benefits from having its own private pool and sundeck, with outside dining furniture, sun loungers, and gas barbecue.

The nearest supermarket selling an extensive range of western food is a 5 minute walk, as are the facilities of Jolly Harbour. The nearest beach is a 10 minute walk.

You will be met on arrival at the airport at St. Johns, with transfers arranged to/from the villa, an approximate 25 minute minute journey by road, with a welcome pack waiting for you on arrival

We currently live in the UK, having spent a career mostly working and living overseas. We bought this property in 2008 to provide a vacation home for ourselves and our two daughters, and to provide an extended vacation home during my retirement.

Why Phil Holland chose Jolly Harbour

The property comprises 1600 square feet internally, a 300 square foot sun verandha overlooking the 10 times 5 metre pool, which is contained within a timber deck area.

With 1600 square feet of internal living area, the property is ideal for extended vacations. It is configured to enable two families of four to share identical bedrooms, ie, with two master bedrooms, both with kingsize beds, ensuites, and wardrobes, dressers. Similarly there are two identical twin rooms, which share a shower room. It is therefore ideal for two families of four to share a vacation.

The property is fully equipped to facilitate self catering, with Denby crockery, Diners cutlery, and Circulon pans. It has all the necessary facilities, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, plus other kitchen items such as blender, coffee maker, and more than adequate kitchen utensils to make self catering a pleasure, rather than a chore!

Of course, if self catering is not your thing, then you are a five minute walk from the 6 nearest restaurants.

The lounge is furnished to be comfortable, with a leather sofa set.

What makes this villa unique

The property is located on a short concrete surfaced road, off the main road entrance to Jolly Harbour and overlooks a freshwater lake, with breeding birds, and feeding pelicans. It is quiet, and removed from the hustle and bustle of Jolly Harbour, but is only a 5 minute walk away from the Jolly Harbour supermarket, restaurants etc.

Milk and Honey villa is superb. It is just as good as the photos suggest. We have just returned from spending 4 weeks out there and can't wait to go back. It is just like home from home as far as the amenities go. You can tell that Philip (owner) uses the villa for himself as well, because it has everything you need to live there, unlike some rentals that just have the bare minimum of facilities. It was cleaned immaculately each week by Avril (one of the Villa Mangement team) and the pool is also maintained on a weekly basis. It's tiled throughout, so if you drag a bit of sand in on your flip flops, it only takes a second to sweep it up. We've stayed in other rental places around the world and think it's worth mentioning the difference with Milk and Honey. You don't need to bring towels as there are plenty for bathroom use and beach towels as well. You don't need to bring dishwasher tablets as they're supplied, same goes for clothes washing. The WiFi is excellent. The American style fridge freezer is perfect. After a roasting hot day the AirCon can cool the place down in seconds so it doesn't need to be left on all day to keep the place cool (it also doesn't have that damp musty smell that some have) The pool is fantastic, not one for diving into as it's quite shallow but great for families with kids and generally taking a cool refreshing dip. It's far enough away from Jolly Harbour that you don't hear the noise from there, but less than a five minute stroll gets you to the resort which has a supermarket big enough to supply you with a good variety of food, a great choice of restaurants, the marina and of course Castaways bar on the beach and all the other facilities you could hope for. Villa Management visibly take pride in looking after the place and if you need anything they're more than happy to help. If you decide to venture out and don't have a hire car, we'd recommend using the local bus. Apart from saving a fortune on Taxis, it's easy and quite fun having a chat with the locals and seeing the island. Everything centres around St John's, so even if you want to head south it's easier to go North to St Johns and then swap buses. They mostly look like minibuses and you can tell they're one because it will say Bus on the left hand side of the Number plate (Taxis have TX instead). You catch the number 20 (a round disc with 20 in it in the front windscreen) just outside the gate by the supermarket and this will take you to St John's bus depot.

Wonderful villa

We can't thank Phil enough for sharing his villa with us. We stayed the entire month of February and loved each day. We really like having 2 master bedrooms so other couples could stay with us and have their own private space. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. This villa has a clothesline out back which really came in handy. You really need to rent a golf cart or vehicle to be able to get your groceries and make it easier to get to the beach. We rented both and explored several beaches on the island. We were also able to see more of the island and eat out at several different restaurants. We would rent this villa again with no hesitation.

Idyllic villa on an idyllic island.

Milk and honey was a perfect 4 bedroom Villa with its own swimming pool brilliantly equipped kitchen, barbecue and many comfortable sitting and lounging areas.

A car is a must here and ours gave us access to many of the 365 beaches.

The Villa is brilliantly maintained by Villa Management and the pool is kept clean and we had two service calls during our visit.

We would happily return.

Lovely villa, perfectly situated for local shops & restaurants and a great base to see Antigua

Milk & Honey is a spacious villa fully equipped for a comfortable stay. The pick up from the airport was hassle free and, as it was our first trip to Antigua, Glen the driver gave us tips on things to do and see. Everybody was friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and although the water pressure is variable, the bathrooms were clean and perfectly adequate. If you want to see more of the island, you have to hire a car but be warned, driving in Antigua is an 'interesting' experience :-)

Overall, Milk & Honey is a perfect base, highly recommended and we will definitely be returning in the future.

Very enjoyable family holiday

We spent 12 nights at Milk and Honey the week before Easter. We found the agents really helpful. Pascale arranged for us to arrive in 2 groups which enabled me to stock the fridge before the rest of the family arrived from the airport and she arranged an additional fold down bed that was already made up when we got there. Bancroft was very helpful in topping up the pool for us, showing us how the showers in the ensuites worked.... and changing a couple of light bulbs. The cleaners came twice and did a really thorough job. The villa was great for the 3 grandchildren as they could keep cool inside in the real heat of the day and the pool was just the right depth for the nearly 4 year old to play in safely. We used the barbecue and sat out on the patio most evenings using citronella candles and mosquito coils and had very little trouble with bites. We found we did need a car to go to the beach with the small children as the walk there and back was a bit much for them in the heat. There were loads of towels and the washing machine was really easy to use for the beach towels. We made a lot of use of the washing lines on the patio and things dried really quickly. The wifi was great and enabled us to keep in touch with Pascale via email. She always answered very quickly. The only things we couldn't find anywhere were an oven glove and any tea towels......! and other villas we have rented have provided a local mobile phone for making and receiving calls from the agents and booking taxis and restaurants etc. With the wifi we managed OK. Overall a really good experience and would recommend.

Great Location

Spent 10 days in Milk and Honey, it is a fantastic property with a lovely view and easy access to local amenities. There is a supermarket and plenty of restaurants/bars as well as a golf course and the harbour with access to fishing boats and pleasure trips within easy walking distance.

The villa is very well equipped and clean with good sized bedrooms and plenty of room for the 6 of us not to get under each other's feet.

I would highly recommend it to anybody looking for self catering accommodation in Antigua.

Quiet location

The villa is in a very quiet location, down a small dust track. Positioned just 10 minute walk from the nearest beach, bars and restaurants. Bring a torch with you! It's a necessatity at night. The villa provides a great big one, but I took a small one that could slip in to a hand bag. The track at the village end, is in complete darkness, and full of pot holes, not for people with walking issues. There are street lights most of the ways down to the villa, which seem to work on sensors.

There were just 4 of us staying and the villa had everything required.

We were a little disappointed with Jolly Harbour itself. Althpugh we came for a quiet break, we did expect there to be more nightlife. Considering we stayed height of season, we never found a bar or restaurant really busy, or lots of people in one place?

Everything here is extremely laid back and chilled. Not the type of place to dress up to go out. Everyone is casual, shorts, t.shirts.

The villa provided a relaxing holiday base. We used the BBQ several times, and enjoyed lazy evenings around the pool.

Beware!! The villa is opposite the lake, and whilst we thoroughly enjoyed watching all the local wildlife pass through, mongoose, cows, cats, pelicans, the insects are EVERYWHERE!! Apparently the sand flies are the worst offenders for biting, so really, you can't escape them!!

Two of our party ended their holiday with 200+ insect bites, despite every available product from the pharmacy and shop to spray for prevention.

The villa management team worked well, and answered any queries we had, and responded promptly to minor issues we had. Very friendly, courteous people.

Although it is not necessary for a car, pre book in advance a golf buggy. $20 per day. They're like gold dust here, and we were fortunate enough to get one on our second day. It makes life that much easier, especially the supermarket run, and they're great fun to drive.

Also, hire a car for a few days, and get to see the island. There's some beautiful beaches just a few minutes drive away.

Excursions : we did the Wadadli Cat exciursion, which was a full day trip. Not for the faint hearted. A great day out, but highly dangerous if you sit at the front when the boat goes in to the Atlantic. Great value for money and certainly never laughed so much.

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable time. The villa, whilst not the most modern, certainly had everything you would need for a family holiday, would recommend to a large party for holidaying

Rental Terms and Conditions
ADDRESS: Milk and Honey, #26 Harbour View, Jolly Harbour, St Mary’s, St. Mary’s, Antigua
CHECK-IN TIME is AFTER 3 P.M. AND CHECKOUT is 10 A.M. (late check-out at no extra charge available, subject to no immediate occupancy by next tenant)
PETS are not permitted in Milk and Honey under any conditions.
PAYMENT: An initial payment of 25% of the rental rate is required to secure the booking, with the balance payable 60 days before arrival.
SECURITY DEPOSIT: In lieu of a security deposit, a credit card imprint is required on arrival.
CANCELLATIONS: A sixty (60) day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date will incur a penalty equal to the initial deposit. Cancellations that are made within 60 days of the arrival date, forfeit the full rental rate. Early departure does not warrant any refund of rent.
MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: The maximum number of guests is limited to eight (8) persons. Additional guests are subject to prior notification and agreement.
MINIMUM STAY: This property requires a five (5) night minimum stay. Longer minimum stays may be required during holiday periods. If a rental is taken for less than five days, the guest will be charged the five-night rate.
INCLUSIVE FEES: Rates include: transfers to/from the airport( for bookings of more than a week), weekly bedding linen/towel change, weekly maid/cleaning service, weekly pool cleaning/maintenance service, all utilities (electricity, cooking gas, water). If a more regular maid/cleaning service is required this can be arranged, and the costs (EC200 per full day, EC120 per half day) paid directly by the tenant to the local property manager.
RATE CHANGES: Rental rates are quoted in UK£, but may be paid in other currencies with prior agreement.
FALSIFIED BOOKINGS: Any booking obtained under false pretence will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitt
