1,300 Sq Ft Bungalow: Two Bedrooms, Two Living Areas, Two Bathrooms, Sleeps 6
About Ellen Buckmaster
I'm a creative professional and northern transplant/long-time resident of Austin. I love this town. I regularly walk the central part of this city with my dog and friends, explore new bars and cafes, draw, work, sing and say yes to as much as I can.
Ellen Buckmaster purchased this House in 1995
Why Ellen Buckmaster chose Travis Heights
I chose this neighborhood because it feels vital and VERY Austin, perhaps because of it's proximity to Stacey Pool, South Congress and downtown or perhaps because it's hilly and green and laid back. Very walkable, very welcoming. I raised my daughter here and have many creative friends who chose this area to raise their interesting kids.
What makes this House unique
I chose the property for the big square style rooms (no hall) and all of the beautiful wood trim. It sits up on a hill and the porch catches a breeze that travels all the way through the house when the windows and doors are open. When I moved in my friends and family started calling it the Happy House. And it is.

Nice house with artistic decor. Enjoyed the area! Owner available for questions and needs. Thanks Ellen!
Quiet, authentic Austin
As Austin natives returning home for a visit with family we were desperate to find a spot that feel authentic to our home. Ellen's property was just it! The home is a quaint bungalow in beloved Travis Heights neighborhood with easy access to i35 and the SoCo scene. We loved the decor and it was an easy stay with our two young boys; the master room is connected via a jack-and-jill bathroom to the guest room and there's a great clawfoot tub in that bath. I especially appreciated the stocked coffee (with creamer!) upon our arrival -- what an awesome touch. Ellen was easy to communicate with and so accommodating. We absolutely plan to come back in the future.
The house was beautiful and had everything we needed. Will definitely stay here the next time we’re in town!
Great place to stay with my family of 4–close to everything!
We loved this Travis Heights home. The house was just like the pictures, but better. So warm and welcoming. The bedrooms were comfortable and large. We also used the additional sleeping area on the sleeping porch. The kitchen was well appointed which was great since we made most of our meals at the house. Coffee was even provided. We enjoyed the front porch for coffee in the mornings and the back yard for cocktails at night. The neighborhood is gorgeous. We did a lot of walking and exploring. We were within walking distance of the river and Congress Street. We had a few questions before the stay and and few while we were there and Ellen was very prompt and extremely helpful. This is a great property!
