My wife and I have three children who love the outdoors. We spend as much time as we can at our cabin, fishing, hiking, boating, horseback riding, snow shoeing, hunting, site-seeing, swimming, golfing, and skiing. After 10 years there are still new adventures that we discover like the Intermittent Spring in Afton which is a short drive and easy, beautiful hike.
ERIC HARRELL purchased this cabin in 2006
There is no other rental property that offers Blue Ribbon fishing from the privacy of your own property. You can walk out the front door and go fishing. We are close to all of the National Forests and Parks. This area has some of the best skiing and snowmobiling in the West. If Golf is your game there are multiple courses within minutes from the cabin.
1/4 mile of River Frontage on the property.
Very Family Friendly!
My Family searched the internet for the perfect cabin for our trip to Wyoming and came across this rental. From the pictures and reviews we thought we had found exactly what we were looking for, however, that could not have been further from the truth. First, let me say that Eric the owner was very responsive and helpful leading up to our arrival. Once we arrived at the cabin it was a nightmare. As soon as we opened the door to the cabin, it was in complete disarray. There were several bags of trash hanging from the door handles in the entryway. None of the beds were made, in fact wet sheets were hanging in the closet. No sheets, blankets or pillow cases were clean for us to even sleep on that night. There were wet towels hanging all over the house, including on the baby cribs, sink, couch and bathrooms. The Bathrooms were filthy...trash cans were on the sinks along with toothpaste and all kinds of hair. Imagine walking into a "Luxury Cabin" only to find hair all over the sinks, showers and floor, not my idea of luxury at all. We were determined to enjoy the rest of our vacation but sadly anytime we had to be at the cabin that would not be the case. We spent as much time outside of the cabin as possible. Day One was bad but it got even worse after that. Once we inspected the cabin in the light of day it was a wonder it has not been shut down for numerous safety and health violations. The cabin has exposed wiring outside every door to the deck and in the master bathroom. Fire alarms were falling off of the wall and didn't have batteries in them. The cabin doesn't have ANY air conditioning and we went in the middle of Summer. We couldn't open the windows because every screen had holes in them. It get's worse because the dryer vent is INSIDE the house with pantyhose on it which turns the house into a sauna! Now for the worst part..The house is INFESTED with mice and earwigs. There are mouse droppings all over the house and mouse nests in the walls. Earwigs (look them up if you don't know what they are) would fall from the ceiling onto us while we are laying in bed trying to sleep. My sister-in-law and I were both bitten at night by these bugs. Imagine laying in bed hearing mice run across the floor and bugs crawling on you under the covers. These bugs are everywhere in the house..I mean everywhere. This cabin could not have been a more horrible experience for my family and would not recommend it to anyone. STAY AWAY!!!
This was a great get away. We loved the feel of the cabin and the big kitchen. We loved the fireplace. The owner was incredibly easy to work with and very responsive. Most impressed with the owners service.
We stayed for a week over the 4th of July and really enjoyed being able to get away from the crowds and relax at this beautiful cabin! We made the drive up to Jackson and/or the Nat'l Parks most days to hike and get outdoors in the morning and then spent afternoons/evenings relaxing at the cabin. We had our dogs with us and especially enjoyed the little walk from the cabin to the river which we did several times a day. There is also a seasonal ice cream shop on the main road which we walked to for some huckleberry ice cream during our stay - I recommend it if the shop is open while you're there! Another little roadside stop we enjoyed was to Delish Coffee & Donuts in Alpine (this is on the way to Jackson from the cabin). The girls who worked there were so friendly and we enjoyed stopping for a cold-brew and some of their homemade donuts on our way up to (or home from) the parks. Two quick tips for you: If you're renting this cabin for the seclusion, I recommend touching base with the owners to make sure no work is scheduled at the time. Two of the afternoons we were there, some local farmers were harvesting on the property. Not a big deal but it would have been nice to know in advance so we could have worked our plans around it and not been hanging out on the porch with the pups. Also - if you're a porch-sitter like I am and you have more than two people coming, you may want to bring some extra camping chairs for the porch. We spent so much of our time relaxing on the porch and letting our dogs play - it was such a wonderful week and we still haven't quite adjusted to being back in the Phoenix heat! If you're looking to relax and be away from the crowds, this is a wonderful spot.
We spent a week at this cabin and had a great time. We loved the location and the cabin is in great condition. The back porch view is awesome and perfect for relaxing, grilling and watching amazing sunsets!! My family recommends this property for your family vacation and it was a pleasure working with the owners.
We stayed a full week at this place and were sad to leave. The accommodations, property and river access exceeded expectations. Eric was great to work with and all of his recommendations for local food and shopping were spot on. We found all the small towns surrounding the cabin very charming with lots of friendly, down to earth people. We only spent one day in Jackson and the rest of our time was spent in the Star Valley. Loved it! We will be back.
We saw 2 bald eagles just outside the front door on the first morning! A golden eagle that afternoon! This log home is an absolutely relaxing, private, beautiful place to chillax! Drive in through the trees and the home sits waiting for you with a wraparound deck and a huge antler light fixture over the front entry. This is a cute town to explore and a short trip to Jackson. Snowshoeing, snow machine trips and walks along the lane are fun ways to see the area. Thank you Eric for the opportunity to stay at your lovely home!
