This lake home is located in the W Meadowbrook area on the MN side of Big Stone Lake. It features a 30' glassed in porch, 3 sleeping areas, stone fireplace and 2 additional guest cottages. It has been redone and designed with an eye toward cottage style. Hand painted Scandinavian art by Gold Medalist Rosemaller Karen Jensen is featured throughout.
Walk up to the french doors and see all the way through to the water. A rosemalled staircase, and striking wood interiors (incl bullnose) make for an inviting place for family gatherings. Shaker style kitchen cabinets and a claw foot tub in the main bathroom lend a vintage feel.
The open floor plan conveys a sense of ease and sophistication and the character of this home is emphasized by the quality and style of furnishings.
An outdoor bathhouse/bathroom provides a whimsical spot to shower after swimming.
So if you are looking for a great place for your whole family to come and make memories, share a meal, take a nap or just sit and enjoy the breeze in the porch, this may be the getaway for you.
Enjoyed our family celebration weekend at the lake so much! Plenty of room for extended family, while not being on top of each other. Creek and lakeshore beach, volleyball, swimming, fishing, scrabble, campfire, outdoor shower/bathroom (perfect for after swimming), kayaking, local farm produce (Lismore Farms is well worth the trip), golf and a local swimming pool that is full of small town fun. We'll be back, for sure!!!
What a beautiful home and setting—just as pictured and more! Our stay was brief, but early morning coffee at the end of the dock and feeling the sun's warmth was beyond description. A place I’d love to be every morning! I brought my book along, but was too captured by the beauty of the place, the cozy accommodations, the wildlife, and the many changing panoramas of the lake to read it! The serenity of the place is “just what the doctor ordered” if you are looking for beauty, peace and quiet and great accomodations.
We just returned from a wonderful 5 days at the cabin! We had 2 families staying (one with 3 kids and one with 2), so we had a full house - but we never felt cramped with the large sleeping area upstairs and the second living area with large dining table! If you needed to sleep more, you could definitely bring a couple air mattresses for that upstairs bedroom area! We really enjoyed being outside, on the beach or in the water! We also used the fire pit quite a bit and found the outdoor shower/toilet/sink extremely handy with little ones! Just a heads up for those traveling later in the summer - the flies and mosquitoes were pretty bad, but we knew that going into the trip. Overall we had a great time and loved our stay! Thanks Sue!
My family (parents, sister, brother-in-law, nieces) returned to this beautiful cabin for the 3rd time. We discovered this place last summer and enjoyed it so much. We also rented it last Thanksgiving. The lake is nice and surprisingly quiet. We swam, brought some floats and beach chairs to hang out on, kayaked, fished off the dock as well as from a pontoon we rented from Schmidt's Landing, golfed, roasted marshmallows. We went to the Inadvertent Café in Clinton for an awesome breakfast one morning and stopped at the Lismore store for feather pillows and canned goods, but otherwise stuck around the cabin. Lots of wildlife including deer, pelicans, and turtles. There is something for everyone here.
Just returned from our stay at this wonderful cabin and couldn't be more satisfied. Something for every age - we had my parents along with grandsons who all found something to keep them busy. Large flat lot with great dock for swimming and fishing. Interior was setup with everything you would need. Stunning loft and decorated so cute. Lots of extras you would not expect - outdoor shower and extra cabins - we did not use but were just adorable. We have rented other vrbo cabins and this one far exceeded the previous ones. Owners great to work with. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing getaway.
We loved our stay at this beautiful cabin - and it's so much more than a cabin. It is on a large lot with a small creek running through. The beach area is great. The outdoor shower/bathroom is adorable and such a good idea for a lake home. Wonderful for bird watching - hummingbirds were fluttering around from morning to night, finches, chickadees, gulls, cranes, and pelicans. There were deer tracks on the beach and we saw many deer on our drives. Lots of frogs hopping around. Great sleeping weather - loved sleeping in the windowed room facing the lake with the breeze coming through. Quick trip into town for groceries. Rented a pontoon from Lakeshore RV Park for 1/2 a day. Had a wonderful dinner at Lakewood Supper Club. Very friendly neighbors. There were many things we planned to do in the area but it was so peaceful and relaxing at the cabin we didn't venture out much, and we did not want to leave at the end of our stay. Can't wait to go back!
My husband, 2 year old daughter and our Boston Terrier just got back from a great weekend getaway at the whimsical cottage. We spent 3 days fishing from the dock, swimming, paddle boating, BBQing and catching frogs. We can't wait to go back! The decor was perfect and the surroundings were serene. Just want we needed. Great place for a quite family getaway or a large gathering. Plenty of space to go around.
