This two story house has a laid back lodge feel. The original owners built this house using trees that came out of the river (as you will see in the pictures) that adds to the rustic feel of the four open ceiling bedrooms upstairs. This charming home has plenty of room for up to 12 people if the large sofa is used for sleeping as well. There is a queen size bed located down stairs for anyone that may have issues with climbing stairs. There is also a bath on both levels. the bath down stairs also has access to the river so that you don't have to necessarily go through the house to get to it. We also offer the use of two kayaks to enjoy the exploration of nooks and cranny's of the river. Plenty of local restaurants in town, however the kitchen is ready for you to cook if you prefer. we provide linens, and towels, but you may want to bring extra towels if you plan to swim often.

This was a gem on the Rainbow River.
My family, grandparents, and extended family spent a week at your river house. It was super. We all went right out to the dock and jumped in the crystal clear water the night we arrived. The next morning we did it again despite the 36 degree air temp. Everyone used the kayaks for early morning trips and all the kids had fun on the silly floats we brought.
We all headed up to KP Hole and floated from there down to the house. We enjoyed the state park a few miles up the road. We also hired a water taxi to take us from KP Hole up to the headwaters of Rainbow Springs and paddle boarded back. We explored the bubbling springs along the way and foraged up a Springs but I cannot remember the name. The headwaters are private but we went all the way in. Super fun with snorkels and goggles.
The house was perfect for our adventurous group. Nothing fancy but very clean and quaint. Oh and let’s not forget bearly nightly fires in the outdoor fire pit.
We are so happy you guys had a great time. It is a pleasure to share the house with people that love the Rainbow and nature the way that we do. I bet the name of the creek you explored was Indian Creek. Dunnellon has so many wonderful things to offer. So happy you explored the bubbling springs and the head waters. The park up there is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! In the spring time when the azaleas are in bloom it is absolutely breath taking. Thank you for the great review and we look forward to having you all stay again at the Blue Run River House.
Beautiful and Relaxing
We stayed here for Thanksgiving weekend and it was exactly what we wanted: a totally relaxing and quiet place in an absolutely stunning setting. The house is exactly as advertised and will fit 10 people very comfortably. Impeccably clean, well maintained, and properly equipped. As nice as the house is, its the location what you are really there for. Nice dock on the river with a fire ring. Completely quiet location within ten minute drive of any last minute needs. We had a great time.
Beautiful river house, perfect location
We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. This house was supplied with everything we could have possibly needed. It is in a perfect location, We enjoyed the sitting by the river watching the wildlife.
Brenda, we are so happy that you guys enjoyed our little slice of heaven on earth. Thank you for the nice review. We look forward to hearing from you all again in the future.
Thanks for booking with us
A gorgeous setting
I might never vacation anywhere else again! I cannot tell you how beautiful the Rainbow River is and this home is in just a perfect location to really enjoy it. There is a little curve to river here so you can see so much. Somehow the dock always seems to be in the shade so sitting and watching all the activity on the water - both people and wildlife is so pleasant. Then when you want to enjoy the water just hop in. Easy to swim in the area in front of the house. Or get on a float. It was a little over an hour and a half to float down the river - but just 5 minutes to have someone pick us up from the bridge take out area. Or you can kayak in the kayaks provided and it takes 20-30 minutes. I brought my paddleboard and it was about 30 minutes to the bridge take out area. So much fun.
We also used the firepit to make S'mores and that worked great.
The back yard also had plenty of room to set up a corn hole game.
The house itself is super cute. And when you walk in there is a gorgeous view of the water even from inside. The living room is very spacious with plenty of room for sitting. We had 10 adults and 2 children and plenty of room,
The remarks from other reviews are true and you just need to be prepared for a few quirks of the house. It is a very open plan, both upstairs and downstairs so you will hear everything going on everywhere. If you are a light sleeper bring earplugs. The refrigerator is small - bring a cooler for drinks and extra space. The oven is a little persnickety - but I made a birthday cake in it.
Other things you might want to know. The bathrooms are spacious and plenty of hot water. There is a large gas grill outside that works well. Also a small charcoal grill but we did not use it.
Donna is great to work with and very responsive.
Overall, this house is a great value and in one of the most beautiful spots in Florida. I would stay here again.
Thanks for the review Dawn. Since your stay we have installed white noise machines in each bedroom. We appreciate the feed back as we strive to make our guest as comfortable as possible. We truly want our home to be our guest's home away from home.
I love rainbow river
All in all it was a nice river get away my first impression was an old rotted tree at the entrance and all the debris that went with that. Then we entered the house there are spider webs in the windows. there was a garbage can by the back door with garbage in it walked out to the doc it is very run down needs to be cleaned at least but a coat of paint would have made it look nice. The airconditioning was very loud, which you noticed when you were trying to sleep. The wiring of the house is quite old nobody could plug in their games some needed to use a plug for electronics but they were unable to do so. The 5th bedroom left a lot to be desired it was actually a bed in the middle of the main room with sheets surrounding it which left a lot to be desired for sure.
I'm so sorry that was your first impression. The debris you saw was not from the tree but from the work done on the septic system the week prior to your arrival. I'm so sorry but we were unable to get someone out there to clean it at that time due to the massive amount of rain we had been having. I did speak to the house keeper about the spider webs and we have determined that the house should be cleaned no longer than 48 hours prior to any guest stay. Those pesky spiders are always re-building. LOL We also have had maintenance done on the dock since your stay. It's nice and clean now. We put the bed down stairs for guest ( like my mom ) that have difficulties climbing stairs. In the description of the house you will see that we have it listed as four bedrooms not five. We have tried to put many pictures of the house including the bed down stairs so that our guest know exactly what they are booking. We do appreciate your feedback as we always want to improve on our guest stay with us.
It was a great home to stay for a long weekend on the river.
Tracy I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope to hear from you again.
