Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Offida - Villa Harvey Apartment

2 bedroom private apartment to sleep 4, 1 km from Offida

The apartment is part of a large Liberty villa, restored with the help of local artisans to a high standard, set within extensive private grounds. The apartment is completely private and self-contained, with its own entrance and a large west-facing terrace. The well-equipped kitchen-dining room is on the ground floor and a marble stairway leads up to the comfortable sitting room on the first floor, with views of close by Offida and the surrounding countryside. There is also a large family bathroom and two south-facing double bedrooms, with plenty of space to accommodate up to 4 guests. Cots and highchairs are available for families with small children. The apartment offers cool and contemporary interior design with quality fixtures and fittings.

The large infinity pool, 15m x 7m, is surrounded by ample marble terracing, providing the perfect spot for sunbathing and relaxing.

The Games room in the villa has table-tennis, table football and mountain bikes for guests to use

Offida and the local area: The property is located 3 minutes by car from the medieval town of Offida, famous for its hand made lace (merletto a tombolo), its beautiful buildings, its many churches and its award winning wines. In this small but lively market town (5500 pop), you will find everything you need to enjoy your holiday. A centro storico with a weekly market, small shops and delicatessens, several supermarkets, a museum of local history and archeology and a great little playground for the kids. And a good choice of bars, cafes, ice cream shops and restaurants. The surrounding countryside is mainly vine growing - an excellent area to taste some of the local wines at the many cantinas or at Offida's Enoteca, the Regional Wine Centre of Le Marche, housed in a former monastery. The Piazza del Popolo provides the perfect place for an outdoor concert or an artisans' market during a warm summer evening, or eat, drink and dance the night away at one of the many local festas where you will be welcome guests

Why Southern Marche?: The spectacular Riviera delle Palme offers its visitors clean sparkling seawater and a coastline of unspoilt beaches, with the highest award of Bandiera Blu. A palm and oleander-lined promenade/cycle route extends 25 km along the coast from south of San Benedetto to Cupra Marittima, where you can hire bikes, roller blades or walk, with plenty of opportunities for refreshments en route.

There are many little medieval hillside and coastal towns to visit. Ripatransone (10 km) and Macerata (40 km) perform outdoor opera in the summer months. In every local town or paese you can find a good selection of local cuisine and wines.

The capital city of Ascoli Piceno is only 20 minutes away. In July/August, you can see some expert flag throwing and jousting at the Quintana, a celebration of the city's medieval history.

For those who like a bit of wild countryside, the National Parks of the Sibillini Mountains and the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga are within an hour's drive from Offida.

Your accommodation: The apartment is attached to the main villa, which is occupied by the owners. It has been carefully designed so that guests can enjoy their holiday in privacy, with their own entrance and terrace. The swimming pool may be shared with the owners but there are no other guests.

The owners are available for guests, to give any help or advice when required. Their aim is for you to enjoy your holiday and to enjoy getting to know this part of Italy

About Jeremy or Patricia Harvey

Both of us are originally from Edinburgh, Scotland. We moved to London to continue our studies then lived and worked there for many years. After we retired from full time work, we moved to Italy in 2007 to oversee renovations to our house. Jeremy is trained as a designer (products, furniture and interiors) and for many years was a principal in a design consultancy in London. Patricia worked as an English teacher in London. Both of us enjoy outdoor pursuits, cycling, sailing, skiing and classic cars.

Jeremy or Patricia Harvey purchased this apartment in 2003

Why Jeremy or Patricia Harvey chose Ascoli Piceno

Our property is a beautiful old villa padronale in an area that has great access to sea and mountains, a fantastic climate, friendly people, delicious food and wonderful wines. Because of its Liberty facade dating from the 1890s, it is a listed building, although the original part of the house is much older. It required a tremendous amount of work to restore the house, with stringent requirements from the local authority about exterior finishes. However, the restoration enabled the opportunity to create large contemporary interior spaces that suit our lifestyle.

What makes this apartment unique

Having always lived in a city, coming to live in this part of Italy was a new experience. We are surrounded by countryside but we do not feel isolated as we are only 2 km from a small market town which, particularly in the summer months, is a lively place. From the rear of our house we have a splendid view of one of Le Marche's most famous buildings, the church of Santa Maria della Rocca and the town of Offida. We have good access to all the services that we need and, being based in central Italy, an excellent base from which to explore our area and other parts of Italy.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for your kind hospitality. We loved our stay and it was especially interesting to learn about the restoration project of the villa.

A true Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We stayed one week in Villa Harvey in July and we can only give it our best and warmest recommendations!

The location is really perfect; just outside Offida (so beautiful!) and only a short car ride to the seaside. The apartment is equipped with every thing you need including good tips and ideas of what the surrounding offers. The big pool is a dream; surrounded by a beautiful garden with a stunning view of Offida.

Patricia and Jeremy are great hosts and made us feel very welcome throughout the stay. They were there to give advice when needed and Jeremy even offered our children to play in the garage with his own designed playhouse. Very appreciated!

We hope to be back in the future!

Fabulous apartment

  • 5 of 5

We loved this apartment which was exactly as described. It was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished. Our teenagers loved the large swimming pool, which had lovely views to Offida. We visit Marche every year, and this is one of the nicest properties we've stayed in. We would definitely stay here again. Patricia and Jeremy are friendly hosts, but not intrusive. 10/10.

wonderful days in Offida

  • 5 of 5

Spacious and very well maintained apartment

  • 5 of 5

everything went fine in this spacious and very well maintained apartment. All you need is supplied in the kitchen and we even had a welcome filling in the fridge for a breakfast on our first morning.

We were too early in the year for the pool, but everything looked very well maintained and on our last day the pool started working as well.

There is also lots of (guide)books and some video's.
