TUSCANY ITALY PERFECT CASA SAN VITO VILLA

Casa San Vito is a nicely restored Tuscany villa that sleeps eight and has three bedrooms: two king-size beds, two twins, and a sofabed in living room. Two beautiful full bathrooms, large living room with fireplace, country-style eat-in kitchen, washing machine, satellite TV for a few English language news channels.

Click the video link to take an aerial tour of Casa San Vito's stunning vineyards, olive orchards and views!

Great care has been taken in the remodelling process of this Tuscany villa to retain the many charming features while providing modern comforts and conveniences.

The villa is in the beautiful vineyard countryside between Florence and Siena and is in one of the best parts of the Chianti region of Tuscany for daily excursions to visit Florence, or to see the famous towers of San Gimignano, the sites of beautiful Siena, the baths of Montecatini, and is a wine aficionados paradise if you want to sample the many excellent varieties of Chianti. The nearest towns are San Casciano and Tavarnelle in Val di Pesa. Florence, Siena and Greve in Chianti are an easy drive. You can even make a day trip to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa as it is only a one and a half hour drive away as is the graceful town of Lucca.

On the ground floor set into cool stone walls is the original barn, now a loggia, or covered terrace, which is essentially like an outdoor living room in the summer. The patio area is furnished with a table & chairs for dining outdoors.

Go up the front stairs and you are greeted by a good-sized entryway as you cross the threshold. Coming off the entryway is the living room to your left and the eat-in kitchen to your right. This Chianti villa has terracotta floors and beautiful wooden ceiling beams that rise above. The living room has a large working fireplace with comfortable seating and a window the overlooks the property. The kitchen is furnished with a large table for comfortable, casual meals and lively conversation.

There are three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a dual king bed and an adjoining bath. The window looks out over the vine-covered hills. It has good closet space, and a little desk. The adjacent master bathroom has a full shower, toilet, bidet, and sink. The view from this particular window is one of the best as you gaze over the olive grove out to Chianti's rolling hills! The finish work in the bathroom is excellent, with beautiful tile details done by master Italian ceramic craftsmen. Over the sink is a large mirror and excellent lighting.

The spacious second bedroom is a bit larger then the master bedroom and has a romantic antique queen-size bed, a large armoire and a window looking east. The beautiful headboard has been passed down in the family generation after generation. The third bedroom has two twin beds and an antique armoire.

There is a laundry room off the hallway with a washing machine. It leads to the large bathroom that has a full size tub with bathtub, a toilet, sink, and bidet. The bathroom sink is set into a spacious cabinet, with plenty of countertop space. Again in this bathroom is beautiful tile with arched details over the large mirror over the sink that are very pretty.

The house is located on the same property with another rental house, Casa Rossa VRBO #36918, which can be rented in conjunction with Casa San Vito for large groups. The houses are approximately 30 meters apart.

About a 10 minute drive away are the tiny villages of San Cristina in Salivolpe and Romita where you can get basic provisions or go for a morning espresso at the local cafe. The nearest major city is San Casciano in Val di Pesa, located between the Greve and Pesa valleys. The town is surrounded in part by an ancient wall dating back to the 14th and 16th centuries. Every Monday morning is market day in San Casciano where you can shop for the freshest produce, meats, fish, and flowers. Be sure to sample the wonderful array of local extra virgin olive oils and honey too. San Casciano has a large supermarket, and numerous small shops if you prefer, such as a butcher, fruit and vegetable shops, post office, bank, gas station. There are numerous good restaurants, pizzerie, a public swimming pool and public tennis courts as well.

The village of Cerbaia, about six miles from San Casciano, has the distinction of having one of Italy's most celebrated, and expensive, restaurants, La Tenda Rossa. It is one of the handful of restaurants in all of Italy to receive a remarkable two stars from in the revered Michelin Red Guide! Just beyond Cerbaia is Montespertoli, famous for its red wines. You won't forget for a minute that you're in the heart of Chianti.

Keep going in the direction from San Casciano towards Florence and you'll find a great cafe in the tiny village of Santa Andrea in Percussina. This village is famous for being the home of the writer-politician Niccolo Macchiavelli.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Casa San Vito was great and Francesco & family lovely and helpful. Car a necessity. Recommend some warm clothes as it was a rainy fall & we were out so much never got to open shutters during the warm days & house was cool at night. We had Graziella [private chef] come in to cook for us - outstanding evening, Verrazzano executive winery tour a definite highlight, buying cheese at Tavernelle Thursday market & having dinner at casa one of our favorite meals. San Gimignano, Montalcino, Montepulciano - all great towns but very hilly so consider in your planning. A GPS would be very helpful - we didn't and got lost everywhere we went which sometimes brought us to unexpected finds. We all had a great time and wish we could have stayed another week. Would definitely recommend Italy Perfect.

Beautiful Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

Casa San Vito was the perfect place for our family while vacationing in the Tuscany region. Beautiful views. Private. Central location to Florence, Siena, San Gimingnano.... Our host, Francesco, was friendly, helpful with suggestions on sites to see and area festivals we could attend. Very accommodating when we had to check in earlier than the stated arrival time. Even though the weather was hot, the villa stayed cool and at night when the temperatures cooled, we opened all the windows (all had screens) and had a comfortable night's sleep. Our villa was spotlessly clean, plenty of room (we were 7 of us), nicely decorated. Had dinner out on our patio and took in the rolling hills and vineyards. Absolutely beautiful!

lovely spot. Convenient to area we wanted to visit.

  • 3 of 5

The villa was lovely, so was the countryside. Nice yard for children to play . Fransico was very helpful and congenial. Was disappointed with some hidden costs that were not clear up front. Also, the fireplace was not ready to be used and we missed the warmth. We had to pay more for heat. Internet was very undependable. Had few days when we could access the web and family.

We really liked the place, but there were some kinks that need to be worked on.

Owner's Response: We are happy you enjoyed your stay and the lovely villa. We are concerned about your comment that there were hidden costs however. All of the fees are detailed in our listing and in the reservation agreement that you read and agreed to before reserving. After reserving there were additional communications reminding you that the heat is paid separately. We're sorry the fireplace wasn't ready when you arrived however the heat was working, and as a courtesy to you, you were charged for only 4 of the 5 days for heat at the modest fee of only €10 per day, we absorbed the cost for heat for the first day. Internet coverage in the rural countryside is notoriously spotty as stated in our listing, we are sorry you didn't read that information which is so clearly presented. We did provide free of charge an additional rollaway bed per your last minute request so that all three children could sleep together in the third bedroom, we wish you had not waited until you arrived to request that and pleased we were able to accommodate your request so promptly.

Great Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Casa San Vito in late October. It was a little cool but beautiful! The home was delightful and in a wonderful location. We made lots of day trips all over Tuscany. Francesco was a great host and explained thoroughly how things worked. He also gave us several recommendations of things to try in the area. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation.

Month in Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented the house for a month. We wanted the feeling of "living" in Italy and this house was perfect. Several friends came to stay with us for varying times and we all had a wonderful time. The kitchen is big, we cooked most nights we were there. The family that owns the house was very helpful and accommodating. We were there in time for the grape harvest, which was pretty fascinating. The house is literally in the middle of grape vineyards and olive tree orchards. The house is very comfortable, and I can't wait for another opportunity to go back! Would recommend this property to anyone wanting to "Live" in Italy. You must have a car! The property is near Florence and Siena, and the center of Tuscan wineries, but impossible to navigate without a personal vehicle.

Great location to see Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

This will sound like the other reviews. There were 6 in our group. Great location if you want to venture out each day to see all parts of Tuscany. Francesco is an excellent host. He is very helpful, has great suggestions, speaks English well, and will give interesting insight into the culture of Tuscany. The listing is accurate and what we expected. There are great sunsets and sunrises. There is a nice courtyard for dining and drinks. We visited in August and it was very hot, but that is to be expected. Don't miss the town of Volterra. Great drive to a fortress/walled city on a small mountain. Find a bottle of Tiberio Nocens (a super Tuscan wine) made by Enzo Nocentini. Go to Poggobonsi to a Coop store south of Casa San Vito. For a real adventure try to find your way to Enzo's home and winery. Can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this rental. My wife said I had to mention our evening walk through Francesco's vineyard while watching shooting stars - From the Vermonters.

Perfect Tuscany Villa

  • 5 of 5

My son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren (ages 10 and 16) and I arrived at Casa San Vito after a great 6 days in Rome and Naples. Situated amidst grape vineyards and olive orchards of Chianti, the villa fit every expectation we had of the Tuscany area. Francesco has used his skills as an architect to completely remodel the three bedroom, two bath villa. It is well designed, clean and comfortable. And Francesco and his mother were very helpful in welcoming us and getting us oriented.

We explored small towns near San Romita with their wonderful outdoor restaurants, convenient grocery stores, and interesting shops. We found all of Francesco's suggested restaurants to be excellent.

The villa is perfectly situated to explore Tuscany. We traveled on different days the relatively short distances to Senna, Florence, and to Pisa and the coast, and took time to see some of the local towns.

I definitely hope to go back to this wonderful villa and recommend it to others.
