About Linda Hurd
This picture is of my daughter and myself. I grew up in Orinda in the Bay Area and haven't left. I know a good thing when I see it!!
Linda Hurd purchased this House in 1999
Why Linda Hurd chose Arnold
When I was looking for a mountain home, I chose Arnold because of the quaint beautiful area with the friendliest people on earth. The drive to Arnold is fun and non-stressful (unlike Highway 80 to Tahoe) and the area hosts a variety of things to enjoy throughout the year from local concerts in town, to concerts at the winery, to music festivals at Bear Valley, Kajaking in the lake, parades, frog jumps, skiing at Bear Valley, white water rafting trips, golfing and more too numerous to name!
What makes this House unique
The area is so peaceful, one can come from the busy Bay Area and immediately relax. I love the Arnold area. It's a short drive but you feel as if you are in a different world!! While you are in a small mountain town with very tall trees, you still have the convenience of nice restaurants, wineries, and a terrific super market to buy your food. There are numerous areas where you can hike, go to the lake, ski or just hang out and do nothing. There is wireless internet in the home, air conditioning and heating plus the huge dog run which connects to the upper deck is terrific and safe for your pooches to run freely.

We love it! The location is perfect for all sorts of activities.
Beautiful property. Very clean and comfortable.
Perfect long weekend
Our adult children, two grand babies and my shih tzu stayed here over Memorial weekend. It was perfect for all. The kitchen had everything we needed and there’s also a nice grill on the deck.
I will definitely consider renting this place again.
Beautiful comfortable property
This was a great setting for family retreat with the ability to take our pups. Thank you Linda!
Great for dogs and people
Linda's house was everything it promised: spacious, comfortable, and clean. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking, which our group enjoys. Everything worked well. The view from the porch was spectacular, giving a feeling of seclusion even though the house was easily accessible and near many great activities. Linda was very accommodating with our entry and exit time. She also emailed us clear, comprehensive guidelines and instructions ahead of time.
We have only two, easily corrected suggestions: The window of the upstairs bathroom didn't open and there was no fan, so the bathroom tended to fog up. Also, that shower could use an anti-slide mat.
Otherwise, the house was wonderful and we highly recommend it.
Thank you Wendy! I am happy you had a good time. I tried to put a fan in the upstairs bathroom but my contractor said it wouldn't work. The window does open if necessary. I had anti slide matts in the bath tub but unfortunately had to throw them away because they mold so quickly. For some reason within 2 weeks they get gross. I haven't been able to find anything else that will work. I appreciate the suggestions and wish they could be implemented too.
Big Trees State Park, Columbia, Bear Valley Ski Resort, Murphys and Sonora are near by. White Pine Lake is in Arnold which has a small beach and Malones Lake and Lake Alpine are great for fishing. Zip lining for the brave is provided at the caverns between Murphys and Sonora and there are local activities scheduled throughout the year, i.e: St. Patty's Day parade in Murphys, Frog Jump in Angels Camp, Fourth of July Parade, Bear Valley Music Festival in August and concerts at Ironstone Wineries throughout the summer. There are also numerous hiking trails available Columbia is a great old gold mining town between Arnold and Sonora and spending the day watching the fascination on your children's faces while they gold pan is really fun. If it's just the adults, the old 1800's saloon is a real trip.
