About this property

'Ebb and Flow' a light and airy seaside get-away at Crescent Beach

Relaxing and serene, Ebb and Flow is a lovely vacation home located just a short walk from sandy Crescent Beach. (It is a 2 minute drive or an 8 minute walk). Vintage decor and special touches enhance the cottage charm of this comfy and cozy retreat.

The master bedroom features a queen-sized antique iron bed and private bath. The full bedroom has a white vintage cottage style bed and the twin bedroom features wicker furniture. Each bedroom enjoys a beautiful ocean view. Plenty of windows provide natural light and offer cool sea breezes.

The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook a fabulous lobster dinner right down to the bibs. There is all new kitchenware including all-clad cookware and corelle dishes. The country kitchen features an antique hutch and farm table. Off the back deck is a patio with picnic table and gas grille for cook outs. There is a large, private yard with a beautiful lawn for kids to play in and lawn chairs in case you want to relax under a tree and read.

In the morning, grab a cup of coffee and sit on the front porch and watch the sun rise over Penobscot Bay or walk down to Crescent Beach and greet the day. At the end of a full day of playing in the sun and enjoying all of the activities the area has to offer, fall asleep to the sound of waves lapping at the shore or maybe the distant echo of the fog horn.

If you have a rainy day, don't fear - the cottage is fully stocked with rainy day entertainment such as games and cards, a full bookcase, high-speed wireless, TV with cable and a DVD player and lots of family-friendly movies.

Crescent Beach is ideally situated for exploring Owls Head and the mid-coast area. Some of the highlights of Owls Head include the renowned Transportation Museum, Knox County Airport (Cape Air flies into Owls Head from Boston and other regional locations and car rentals are offered at the airport, too), the quaint Owls Head General Store (home of the award-winning 'Best Burger in Maine') and nearby Owls Head State Park which features the popular Owls Head Lighthouse. Lucia Beach is located a few minutes away from the house by car in Birch Point State Park and offers a pristine beach, picnic facilities and hiking trails.

Owls Head is only 10 minutes away from Rockland. Rockland's busy harbor is the second largest in Maine and is the setting for the Samoset resort. Rockland offers many amenities including: hospital, restaurants and shops, antiques, the Farnsworth Museum, the Sail, Power and Steam Museum, art galleries, two movie theaters including the historic Strand Theatre, and many recreational, tourist and harbor activities. Ferries leave 6 times a day from Rockland for the islands of North Haven and Vinalhaven. Twenty minutes north is the scenic town of Camden.

Crescent Beach, when the tide is out a bit, is a lovely, safe, family-friendly sandy beach. Perfect for building sand-castles, beach combing for seashells and sea glass and of course, swimming. The gentle waves are safe for children to play in and offer hours of summer fun.

A slice of heaven
Peaceful home with water views. Nice beach at the end of the street. Tons of activities and a large array of restaurants and cute shops in the area. We visited Monhegan Island, Boothbay Botanical Gardens, Transportation Museum and Rockland and Owls Head Light Houses. Even walked to the Owls Head Light House. Owners were very helpful and attentive.

My husband and I honeymooned in Maine and have been visiting the mid-coast area for many years. When we came to Owls Head we fell in love with it!

Why they chose this property

It's a relaxing place where you can enjoy the peace and quiet, but when you want to have some fun - all of the activities you might want are just a few minutes away in Rockland. It's the best of both worlds.

Not that there isn't plenty to keep you occupied right in Owls Head between the beach and other local attractions. And when you're hungry, the Owls Head General Store is just 4 minutes from the house. Besides Maine's 'best burger' they serve delicious homemade haddock chowder, veggie soup and wonderful gourmet sandwiches. We can attest to the fabulous food because we eat there often when we're in town!

What makes this property unique

We bought the property in April and have been working on it all spring and summer to make it just right for you to enjoy! Other than some vintage and antique items, most of the furnishings are new. New living room furniture, beds and linens, dishes and cookware and lots of special decorative touches. I hope that you will enjoy it as much as we have enjoyed putting it all together for you. Come sit on the porch and watch the boats go by and enjoy a little bit of Maine for yourself - it's lovely in any season!
