The Anchorage was built in 1976 and has been recently been refurbished throughout. The property has a lounge looking out over the front garden, with sea views. You can sit on the settees - which include 4 recliner seats and watch the ships sail by on the sea, whilst the children play on the front lawn. Dining Room with French doors out to the patio, at the rear of the house. The patio adjoins to a large garden area and drive. There is garden furniture - a table and plenty of chairs. The kitchen has all new appliances - dishwasher, washing machine, cooker and hob, microwave. There is a cloakroom with sink and WC downstairs and one double bedroom. There is a conservatory looking over the rear garden and a porch looks over the front. Upstairs there are three bedrooms - two double with televisions and one with twin beds. There are two bathrooms, both with baths and showers.
We had a brilliant holiday! What a lovely, relaxing property, well equipped, brilliant location and fab views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the sea views were amazing, watching the sunset over the waves - beautiful. Our two children had a lovely time, one minute from the fab sandy, clean beach. And thanks to Debbie for being so helpful with the highchair! We have already recommended this property to friends and hope to return ourselves in the future!
Absolutely loved our stay at The Anchorage and we were all very sad to be leaving.
The property is overlooking the sea and beach and is perfect for a family getaway. I absolutely loved the location.
We received good customer service from Debbie, and she was always quick to get back to me if I had any queries or issues.
Situated outside Great Yarmouth, it's the perfect retreat for some peace and quiet, knowing that you are just a few miles away from the fun and hustle and bustle of a seaside resort should you want it. Hemsby and Newport are also close by, and there is good entertainment for the kids there too.
The Anchorage was spotless when we arrived and is very well equipped and maintained in all aspects. Linen was beautifully clean and fresh.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Anchorage, and hope to be able to book up for next year very soon.
This was our first visit to The Anchorage, and what a lovely holiday home we were greeted with! A spacious yet cosy house with superb uninterrupted sea views and morning sunrises which very much suited our family group spanning three generations. The children loved both the inside and outside toys provided and we found that the house was well equipped for all our needs.
Scratby makes an ideal base and we all loved the easy access to the dunes and beach below, even lucky enough to spot two seals in the sea! Some great walks from the doorstep in both directions towards Hemsby or Caister which our dog loved too. Great local fish and chips and small shops were handy. We enjoyed the illuminated model village in Great Yarmouth and the Ghost Walk was a scream! Thrigby Hall makes a great family day with the wildlife as does the Sea life Centre.
Thank you Debbie for allowing us to share your Norfolk gem - we highly recommend a stay.
Donna, Duncan & family
We booked The Anchorage for my husbands 50th birthday. Friends joined us throughout the week and were blown away by location & views.
The house is extremely well appointed, spotlessly clean and a great size. The gardener popped in whilst we were there - lovely chap. The beds are comfy and there is an ample supply of fluffy towels. There is a great selection of board games and dvd's for adults and children alike.
Debbie the owner answered all questions promptly, gave good customer service.
We will definately book again, it is a wonderful house in a great location. The dogs loved their walks on the beach. We walked to Hemsby and dined in The Lacon pub, which has awards for being dog friendly. The food is basic pub grub and plentiful. There is a Chinese takeaway in California Cliffs which was lovely. All in all we had a great week away and came home feeling refreshed and recharged. Many thanks to Debbie.
Amazing house with everything needed for a family holiday almost directly on the beach, wonderful for the grand son a great time was had by all of us Thanks
Our second visit and another amazing stay was had by us all over the Christmas period 2014, age range from 5 - 65yrs and we couldn't fault it. This house is very warm and welcoming. It has everything you could need and more. It's like a home from home experience. We had several long walks on the beach nearly every day, the weather was very kind to us and the dogs definitely made the most of the freedom on the sandy shores. This house is central, it takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to get into Caister or Great Yarmouth by car.
The Anchorage is positioned on the sea front, with beautiful views of the sea, the beach and amazing sunsets. If you are an early bird you can view the sun rising over the sea. With the beach less than a minute walk through the sand dunes, you can have hours of fun building sand castles or just relaxing, basking in the sunshine. The sea leaves beautiful shallow pools that children or adults can play in - searching for sea life - crabs and tiny fish for example. You can collect shells and pebbles. Scratby is approximately 6 miles North of Great Yarmouth and is situated on the coast between Caister-on-sea and Hemsby. There is plenty to do, visit Caister Castle and the Motor Museum. Pleasure Beach, cinema, crazy golf, amusements and shopping in GY. Visit surrounding picturesque villages - an example: Horning situated on the River Bure, whose origin dates back to Roman times, a mixture of small shops, boat yards and thatched cottages. Mississippi style paddle boat.
Other Activities: Crazy golf, amusements, PYO strawberries, donkey rides
