Our beautiful, newly renovated Brevort Lake home ( the early settler's spelled it "Brevoort Lake) is in Michigan’s Eastern Upper Peninsula , just 25 miles northwest of the Mighty Mackinac Bridge. It features 4 bedrooms , 2-1/2 baths and is close to many area attractions yet situated in the quiet, pristine Hiawatha National Forest on a private road.
We call it Hawk's Hideaway because our area is home to hawks, eagles, osprey , deer, fox, ducks, geese, sand hill cranes , loons and more .
Brevort Lake is a 4,233 acre all sports lake that boasts great fishing ( Walleye, Perch, Bass, Pike, Musky, Bluegill and more) , hunting ( deer, duck, grouse, small game and more). Boat , ATV , Personal Watercraft , Snowmobile and Kayak friendly , our cottage sits very close to the National Forest Trail System which runs throughout the Upper Peninsula . Fish , Boat , and tour in summer, hunt in the fall and snowmobile and relax in the winter, we’re truly located in a 4 season playground of beauty and fun.
More than 1/2 of Brevort Lake ( nearly it's entire southern shore) is undeveloped Federal Hiawatha Forest land, so your view across the lake is a pristine, unobstructed sand dune forest.
We're close to both I-75 and US-2 for day trips to Mackinac Island, Tahquamenon Falls, Seney Wildlife Refuge, The North Country Trail , Pictured Rocks, Mackinaw City, and Whitefish Point and yet you rarely hear the sounds of a car, or plane here. The (almost) nightly star , planet and Milky Way show from the Hawk's Hideaway deck or balcony is incredible.....
Our closest town, St. Ignace is home to many great restaurants, entertainment, walking trails and shops , and is a natural jumping off point to catch a ferry to Mackinac Island .
For ATV'ers and snowmobilers , we are virtually on top of the trail system that takes you anywhere in the Upper Peninsula , on some of the best groomed , un-busy trails in Michigan.
For boaters and jet skiers. , there's 2 boat ramps , 1 all season ramp at the eastern end of the lake , and a seasonal ramp in the Brevort Lake Campground open May-mid September .
We offer sandy, shallow swimming and a cozy firepit for memorable campfires . Our gas fireplace will keep you comfy on cool nights. Kayaks are available , or bring your own , our lake is wonderful for quiet evening or morning paddles!
-Our cottage is set up for a MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY of 8 persons (includes adults and children).
-If you require internet for your stay, please make arrangements prior to your stay for a hotspot on your phone or mi-fi / jetpack . This cottage has no internet access currently.
- We firmly request that you always wear a life preserver while using our kayaks and canoe. We do have some limited sizes of life jackets available , but we would suggest bringing a comfortable life vest for every member of your party who will be using boats. This is an insurance and safety issue, and the lake CAN get rough from one minute to the next. PLEASE, PLEASE wear a life preserver when using our boats.
