About Douglas Liverman and Kimberly Cox

My name is Doug Liverman. I live in Ahoskie NC. Ahoskie is about 25 minutes away from the cabin. The cabin was built basically to have more room when we (Kim and I ) would have all the family down for holiday weekends. It started out as just a square box shape and turned into what it is today. It is about 800 square feet sitting on a hillside just off the Chowan River in Bertie County N.C. It is pattern after a one hundred year old cabin that Kim, my girlfriend, found in a Sportsman magazine at a dentist office. Kim got me phone numbers and I called until I found the people who own the original one which is over a hunderd years old and much more rustic. We added a kitchen and a few other features to ours to make it what it is. A nice little cozy cabin on a hillside where it fits perfect over looking a pond in a quiet little area on the river. You can walk from the cabin to the pier on the river and never touch the ground. It is great for exercise if you are looking for that. As for myself I own a small business in Ahoskie and Kim is a nurse at the local hospital. There is a larger log home on the property which I try to spend as much time in as I possibly can. If you come and visit you will understand why.

Why Douglas Liverman and Kimberly Cox chose Coastal North Carolina

Mainly for the view. When I was sixteen my buddy and I would go down to this place and hang out, at that time it belonged to his grandparents. I would watch him and a friend of ours jump off a cliff that used to be in front of the main house. The crazy things we will do when we are young . I never knew that someday I would actually have a house on the same lot. The view is beautiful and breathtaking especially on a moon lite night or an early morning sunrise.

What makes this cabin unique

The view and location is great and it is very quaint and peaceful. If you are looking for a quiet week or weekend it's worth the trip. You can see deer running around, you can feed the ducks in the nearby pond, watch the rabbits run by, or maybe if you are lucky you may see a bald eagle fly. There are nice restaurants in the area that you can visit by land or river. Just one problem if you go by river you will need a boat, so if you have one you might want to bring it unless you luck up and Kim and I are around and hungry. There is some shopping a few miles away, a movie theater, and some historical viewing if you like things like that. It is small town shopping no W-marts. The nearest one is about 25 minutes away. The cabin does have a deck on the back with a fire pit, gas grill, and a screened in porch. There is a front porch with old timer rockers and a small table for early morning coffee. It has a microwave, also a coffee maker for the coffee lovers. The bathroom has a walk in shower but no tub, in the kitchen there is an oven, stove, and fridge.Jets skies and fishing boats are not available but there will be a paddle boat, small john boat with trolling motor for someone who may want to fish. Canoe or kayak and fishing reels will be available for daily rental. If there is a special occasion please let us know we will be more than willing to help. Check in time is at 3:00 PM, check out is at 11:00 AM.

I loved it!

  • 5 of 5

This was one of the most beautiful cabins I have ever stayed in. The detail in every room was amazing! The hard wood floors, the beautiful granite tops in the kitchen. The bathroom . I could go and on. We had a great time. And plan to visit again soon. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with our family. Christine, Travis , Jennie , Jacob and Linda.

Very nice! Had everything we needed!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I took our 3 boys (ages 16, 15, 13) on a quick little get away before school started. This place looked relaxing and had everything we needed. We fished, sat on pier, walked historical Edenton, and drove down to see kitty hawk!

The cabin was well equipmented with everything needed. We had the best time. We will be returning, we think the cabin would be beautiful in the winter also!! Many thanks to the owners for a great time!

rustic, quiet & clean

  • 4 of 5

Good time. Doug was great. Only real issue is bathroom is not on the same floor as the bedroom if you are an older visitor; plan accordingly. But we had a fine three days. Terry especially liked sitting on the dock out in the river.

Just lovely

This place was the perfect cabin getaway! We sat on the dock at dusk, rocked on the front porch in the morning, and had our meals on the back screened-in porch. Everywhere you look there are nice little touches. I'd highly recommend this cabin!

A hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

We were first enticed by this vacation rental because the map showed that it was in the heart of Downtown Edenton. It's not, but the location is even better.

The decor is absolutely amazing, and the notebook provided by the owners which explains everything from the fire pit to the river access is ridiculously helpful, and answers any and all questions.

You seriously could not ask for a cleaner and more welcoming vacation rental than this little gem that's a shell's throw away from the river. (And what a peaceful river it is!)

Granted, it's a 10-15 minute drive to get to the restaurants, shops, etc. of Edenton, but when it comes to a relaxing place to refreshingly "get away from it all," this spot is impossible to beat.

Would recommend this to anyone, (unless they are planning to come at the same time that we are in the not-so-distant future - because we will most certainly be back.)

Perfect couples getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

Our experience at this lovely little cabin on the hill was AMAZING! We had the best time relaxing and enjoying all of the amenities this cabin has to offer! We couldn't have asked for a more comfortable, quiet, secluded or beautiful setting to just get away from our busy lives. The owners are super helpful and friendly! We plan to make this our go to spot when we need some down time alone.
