Large log cabin sleeps up to 12 people, large 40x20 deck for entertaining and barbecuing, Inground, gunnite & heated 40 x 20 pool with patio, large front porch to dine on and relax, 4 acres of 'peace and quiet', laundry service 1st & 2nd floors, WIFI throughout the house, huge country kitchen, a "chef's dream" kitchen, master bedroom on 1st floor, large backyard for volleyball/badminton and soccer.
My partner and I have 7 children between the 2 of us and needed a large home to accommodate all of us and of course our extended families. We built our log cabin with a lot of TLC and today our home is considered a 'resort' or 'retreat' for all!
Kelly M. Dowd purchased this cabin in 2007
We wanted peace and serenity here on our 4 acres ..away from it all and we got it!
The singing of the birds every morning, we love! Again, the privacy our property offers is the best...getting away from it all!
Finding a house large and comfortable enough for 12 adults in their 30s and 40s isn't always easy — but this house did the trick, and then some. The house itself is large, spacious, and beautiful. The kitchen is perfect for preparing large meals, and there's an idyllic front porch with a swing and hammock. There's also a huge grassy area for playing soccer or badminton, a basketball court, and, of course, the salt water pool, which has a fire pit that's fun to use at night.
We couldn't have asked for a better property owner/manager than Kelly. She was extremely responsive from reservation to stay, and patiently answered all of our questions and provided plenty of good advice.
Whether you're a group of friends looking for a fun weekend away, or families with children, I am certain you'll find this house as satisfying a place to stay as we did.
Review is a little late. We we looking for a peaceful, fun girls weekend for my bachelorette. We had about 10 people from ages 22-40. This house was honestly the perfect fit. The house and the property owners/managers (Kelly and Paul) honestly exceeded my expectations. First, THE HOUSE. The house was beautiful. The pictures do not do any sort of justice to how gorgeous it is. There is a huge, beautiful front porch that we spent many hours at chatting, playing cards and laughing. Walking in from the porch is a spacious living room with lots of seating and a fireplace. Once walking through the living room, you came to a beautiful kitchen with gorgeous rustic cabinetry and stainless steal appliances. On the first floor is the "master suite" that included a bathroom. Upstairs there were 4 bedrooms and a spacious center area with a couch. It was pristinely cleaned as you could still see the vacuum lines in the carpets.
The saltwater pool is to DIE FOR. It was perfect for us to hang out in on the warm summer days.
Kelly was a doll to work with. She was able to give me recommendations for places to hike, get groceries, go to dinner, and wineries. When I asked her about providing us with a chef for a night, she did so immediately.
My girlfriends were so impressed, they were suggesting we do this yearly.
If you are looking at the house/location to book in the HUDSON VALLEY- your search is over here.
We all had such a wonderful time this weekend at your beautiful house and property. We have rented a lot of homes in the Hudson River Valley, and yours is by far the best place we have rented (both from a functional and organizational standpoint and aesthetics - I especially loved the large stones used throughout the property for steps, walkways and around the pool). We love to cook so we were immediately impressed by your open and well-equipped kitchen and grill (we brought a knife sharpener because we usually need one at other rentals, but it did not get unpacked this weekend). We loved the open flow of the main floor along with the spacious deck on which we enjoyed all our dinners. The sleeping and bathroom arrangement worked out perfectly and so comfortably too with 6 adults and 7 kids. We were able to gather and enjoy each others company, but each family was still able to retreat to their own space when needed. And there was so much to keep the kids busy between the pool, basketball hoop and just pure running-around space in the yard.
My friends and I of 40+ years spent a weekend away here. It was lovely. The house was roomy for 10 women. We paid extra for the pool to be heated. It really didn't heat up until Sunday though. The kitchen was great to work in. Many venues for relaxing and having fun. Large back deck for gathering. A great front porch to relax on. We lit a fire pool side at night. All beds were comfy. I'd highly recommend this home!
Absolutely beautiful home! The photos really don't do it justice! Spent the weekend with a bunch of girlfriends and we absolutely loved the home. Kelly (the homeowner) was incredibly helpful with dinner suggestions and a great winery. We had an absolutely wonderful time. I highly recommend it!!
Three generations of our family had a wonderful week in this beautiful and spacious house.
Everything that one could possibly want was available. The kitchen was great for cooking large meals. The deck and front porch were perfect for relaxing and reconnecting. The children (and adults) loved the pool. We used the fire pit at the pool every evening. The location was ideal--isolated enough for privacy but within easy driving distance of lots of attractions. We visited the FDR complex, Storm King sculpture, and Vassar College and hiked on the Appalachian Trail. We had great pizza delivered from Freshco in Dover Plains. Kelly and Paul were wonderfully helpful. Hope we can return sometime soon.
