About Kimberli Taylor

This cabin us built in 1956 by William Bell were he lived till he passed away, I am now the property owner and would love to see it enjoyed by those that are looking to escape the city and get back to nature, a place to unplug and reconnect with your spirit, kids and heart.

Kimberli Taylor purchased this cabin in 1956

Why Kimberli Taylor chose Pinehurst

I am most at home in the mountains and have lived here 37 years. The Pinehurst area provides the mountain environment while being reasonably close to the cities of Visalia and Fresno. This particular property is nestled amongst the, cedars, and oaks and is right off the main road to Kings Canyon. Wildlife are attracted to the creek which flows seasonally through the property.

What makes this cabin unique

Peace, quiet, and seclusion, opportunities for walking, birding, horseback riding, and nature study. Artists (writers, painters, musician and composers) will enjoy the opportunity for introspection. Close to Dunlap (archery center) parasailing and hang gliding (Dunlap flight park) General Grant Grove of Giant Sequoias, and Giant Sequoia National Monument.

I also allow well behaved pet's $15.00 to $25.00 dollars per pet per night pet need to be house broken and well behaved, pets are not to be lift in the cabin when guest leave, if you don't want to take your pet on your outing, you can leave them in the kennel that I have provided for them.

A beautiful cabin, and we would definitely stay there again!

  • 5 of 5

This was a nice and peaceful experience for my family. Getting away from busy work life in San Diego to a nice and quiet comfort cabin atmosphere is what my family and I needed! I was impressed with Kimberli customer service needs, I mean she basically ensured the cabin was stocked with clean blankets, bathroom towels, family board games, cooking pots, BBQ grill, etc.…

I love how each day was filled with nothing but sounds from nature wildlife, and I love watching the woodpeckers, quail’s and other miscellaneous birds I’m unfamiliar with feeding on the feeders outside the cabin. It was very peaceful! We were very fortunate to see a couple of deer’s, one large pheasant & plenty of chubby ground squirrels. Kimberli did mention black bears and a giant owl but we never had the opportunity to see either of those. Furthermore, we did see a rattlesnake on our last day at the cabin but it did not bother us and we could see it through the window inside the cabin. We were not frighten nor bothered, so we left it alone in its natural habitat. I just thought it was cool to see.

On day number one, Kimberli stopped for a visit to ensure we were pleased and she was helpful with informing us on all the parks and camps that were nearby. By the way, the highway is very curvy so be patient and vigilant while driving the roads! All in all, Kings Canyon visitor center is about a 30-minute drive, and Hume Lake was about 45 to 50-minute drive. Believe me it’s worth the drive and I promise the Sequoia National Park is worth seeing because I found the sequoia trees to be amazing!

At any rate, the cabin was in great shape and well maintained by Kimberli. Please ensure that your vehicle and tires are in great shape because there are no maintenance services for at least 20 miles and most of the roads, especially at the cabin is paved with small rocks so expect that. Overall, I give Kimberli 5 stars, so thumbs up to a beautiful cabin!

Owner's Response: WOW Thank you so much for such a wonderful review, I hope you all get a chance to come back! It concerns me about the rattle snake, although there's nothing I can do about the rattlers but advice and warn guest of the danger, it's good you got to observe this from the inside of the cabin, know one has ever seen one at the cabin before, at less that I know of. Thank you again for such a wonderful review Kimberli

Wonderful Cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

What a great little cabin! My wife and I enjoyed a weekend away from our three kids and fell in love again :). They say once you have kids you don’t talk as much. Well this we’ll stocked cabin gave us peace and quiet to relax and talk to each other again. Yes you’ll have no cell service or internet but that’s why you are in the woods. It was a joy. Thank you Kimberli for a wonderful weekend away.

Great mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

Loved our time at Shady Glen---Kimberli was fantastic to work with and gave good clear directions on everything. The cabin was cozy and while there is a separate heater that worked well, the wood-fire stove was super warm and of course added to the atmosphere. The cabin was also well stocked with helpful books on the area, toys for my toddler, and plenty of condiments and spices. We loved it!

A couple words to the wise:

-For best results plan ahead and bring food and drinks, from what I could tell there's not a ton of grocery in the area and you'll probably be happy just hanging at the cabin after planning ahead. We got some food at the Kings Canyon Grant Grove Village market, which is maybe like 15-20 minutes away and inside the park (so, past the entrance gate, and thus adding in any time spent waiting to get into the park). But it's a limited selection there. The Pinehurst Lodge, which is on Highway 245 on the way to the cabin off of Highway 180 (and which, side note, is a fantastic place to grab a cocktail and sit by the fire) says that they're opening up a little general store. That's way closer than inside the park but I don't know when it will be complete and it definitely won't be a supermarket either way.

-At least in the near future, prepare yourself for seeing the effects of drought and fire in the area. There are lots of trees that have had to be cut down all around because of drought-caused bug diseases, so it's a bummer but a reality. It's still gorgeous almost everywhere you look.

That's about all I can think to say--anyway, the place is great!

Fun cabin near National Parks

  • 4 of 5

Kimberli was a great host. The cabin is perfect mix of rustic without being tooo old. Very well supplied. Laundry room bed near bathroom was a bit tough after the 3rd day of hiking but, not awful (we're 60, so, younger folks should be fine). Our only CAUTION is the road getting to the cabin. I lost count after 37 hairpin, "s", and blind curves on the 7 mile stretch to Pinehurst. I highly recommend that you find the cabin in daylight. My husband and I would have given up in the dark the first time. Even in the daylight, we kept thinking we missed the turn. IMPORTANT -- follow Kimberli's directions, they are perfect. Don't second guess them.

Summer is here and what a great summer we're looking forward to rivers and lakes are all full! A great season for wildflowers and the blossom trail is already in full bloom, I hope to see you here soon! You can also fine more info on my Shady Glen Facebook page. Enjoy setting on the deck with a cup of coffee hot tea, maybe a glass of wine or cold beer watch the stars at night or greet the sun in the morning with the visiting birds that visit the feeders. Fire season is about to start, it wont be long before there will be a banned on camp fires,

Good news the road going in to the cabin has been fixed, so no more ruts to maneuver around.
