About Kimberli Taylor

This cabin us built in 1956 by William Bell were he lived till he passed away, I am now the property owner and would love to see it enjoyed by those that are looking to escape the city and get back to nature, a place to unplug and reconnect with your spirit, kids and heart.

Kimberli Taylor purchased this cabin in 1956

Why Kimberli Taylor chose Pinehurst

I am most at home in the mountains and have lived here 37 years. The Pinehurst area provides the mountain environment while being reasonably close to the cities of Visalia and Fresno. This particular property is nestled amongst the, cedars, and oaks and is right off the main road to Kings Canyon. Wildlife are attracted to the creek which flows seasonally through the property.

What makes this cabin unique

Peace, quiet, and seclusion, opportunities for walking, birding, horseback riding, and nature study. Artists (writers, painters, musician and composers) will enjoy the opportunity for introspection. Close to Dunlap (archery center) parasailing and hang gliding (Dunlap flight park) General Grant Grove of Giant Sequoias, and Giant Sequoia National Monument.

I also allow well behaved pet's $15.00 to $25.00 dollars per pet per night pet need to be house broken and well behaved, pets are not to be lift in the cabin when guest leave, if you don't want to take your pet on your outing, you can leave them in the kennel that I have provided for them.

A beautiful cabin, and we would definitely stay there again!

  • 5 of 5

This was a nice and peaceful experience for my family. Getting away from busy work life in San Diego to a nice and quiet comfort cabin atmosphere is what my family and I needed! I was impressed with Kimberli customer service needs, I mean she basically ensured the cabin was stocked with clean blankets, bathroom towels, family board games, cooking pots, BBQ grill, etc.…

I love how each day was filled with nothing but sounds from nature wildlife, and I love watching the woodpeckers, quail’s and other miscellaneous birds I’m unfamiliar with feeding on the feeders outside the cabin. It was very peaceful! We were very fortunate to see a couple of deer’s, one large pheasant & plenty of chubby ground squirrels. Kimberli did mention black bears and a giant owl but we never had the opportunity to see either of those. Furthermore, we did see a rattlesnake on our last day at the cabin but it did not bother us and we could see it through the window inside the cabin. We were not frighten nor bothered, so we left it alone in its natural habitat. I just thought it was cool to see.

On day number one, Kimberli stopped for a visit to ensure we were pleased and she was helpful with informing us on all the parks and camps that were nearby. By the way, the highway is very curvy so be patient and vigilant while driving the roads! All in all, Kings Canyon visitor center is about a 30-minute drive, and Hume Lake was about 45 to 50-minute drive. Believe me it’s worth the drive and I promise the Sequoia National Park is worth seeing because I found the sequoia trees to be amazing!

At any rate, the cabin was in great shape and well maintained by Kimberli. Please ensure that your vehicle and tires are in great shape because there are no maintenance services for at least 20 miles and most of the roads, especially at the cabin is paved with small rocks so expect that. Overall, I give Kimberli 5 stars, so thumbs up to a beautiful cabin!

Owner's Response: WOW Thank you so much for such a wonderful review, I hope you all get a chance to come back! It concerns me about the rattle snake, although there's nothing I can do about the rattlers but advice and warn guest of the danger, it's good you got to observe this from the inside of the cabin, know one has ever seen one at the cabin before, at less that I know of. Thank you again for such a wonderful review Kimberli

Attentive caretaker made sure our stay in this cabin was one of the highlights of our trip.

Clean, scenic, well stocked, comfortable, quiet...Cleaner than any hotel room we have ever stayed in. Nice, quiet, rural setting full of wildlife sightings thanks to many well stocked bird feeders on the property. All of the comforts of home included, and then some! Definitely would like to return for another stay in this location.

The cabin was beautiful, clean and well stocked. The property was somewhat isolated.

Kimberlie was very friendly and helpful. We all loved the cabin, and was very appreciative of the amneties as we were not prepared for being so far from groceries and restaurants. We had difficulty finding the place, as we were out of range of wifi, or cell and did not receive the info. Our only suggestions would be to have BETTER sign, as we didn't know what driveway to use, and post a sign on cabin so one could be sure it was Shady Glen, and know which door to use. Otherwise, the cabin is quiet, clean and we had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the wide selection of movies and games. We especially loved relaxing and watching all the birds, and critters! The netting gazebo on the deck was a great idea. Overall, we loved the cabin and would definately recommend this place as an alternate place to stay rather than camping or staying in the expensive lodges in the National Park.

Winter time mines low crowds and a slower pace, now is the time to be thinking of Valentines day and Easter, AKA Spring brace! If it snow's guest will need to park up at the top of the driveway and walk a short distance to the cabin, I will and have shuttled guest and there things to and from the cabin! You can also fine more info on my Shady Glen Facebook page. Enjoy setting on the deck with a cup of coffee hot tea, maybe a glass of wine or cold beer watch the stars at night or greet the sun in the morning with the visiting birds that visit the feeders. Fire season is about to start, it wont be long before there will be a banned on camp fires,

Good news the road going in to the cabin has been fixed, so no more ruts to maneuver around.
