Salmon Ladder: Pitlochry is famous for its hydro-electric dam and salmon ladder. The ladder was specially constructed to enable salmon to by-pass the dam and make their way upstream to Loch Faskally above. Approximately half a million visitors go to the dam and fish ladder every year, making it one of the top attractions in Scotland. The ladder is 310 metres long and consists of 34 chambers. It enables around 5,000 salmon to return to their spawning grounds each year - a journey of some 6,000 miles! Thank you Pat for a lovely couple of days in your house. Your 'croeso' was hospitality at its best. Your treasure trove of books is something very special.

Say, "Yes" in the Autumn! Just my kind of place.

Lovely cosy flat

  • 5 of 5

My wife, my daughter and me stayed a week in this flat. We immediately loved the cosy flat with plenty of space and its original touch. Also the very warm welcome present was a nice surprize and we just can recommend this location.

Lovely hostess and excellent cottage

  • 5 of 5

What a treat to stay in this immaculate and thoughtfully prepared cottage! We so appreciated the little extras and timely communication of our hostess. The location is within minutes of all the darling town has to offer. We are walkers and availed ourselves of help at the excellent Tourist Information (£1 for walking guide) then were glad to get back to our cottage at the end of the day.

The kitchen had everything you needed to prepare food, but the town had restaurants ranging from cheap and cheerful to very upscale.

Thanks, Pat, for making this the best week ever!

Lovely wee holiday home-a real home from home

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week long stay in Pitlochry in this homely property. The owner was so welcoming and helpful with wee extras like tea bags and milk for us travellers, local tips and helpful information on things to do and places to eat. The property itself was immaculately clean and incredibly comfortable. Beds and bedding very comfortable. It had all the equipment we needed for our stay (previously stayed places without colanders or tin openers!). Lovely little garden too. It is ideally situated for walks into and around the town as well as short walks up into the hills. Can't recommend highly enough. Top marks from us!

Great Wee Place

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay immensely! Thanks Pat for the "welcome pack". Lovely warm clean, well maintained house, fully kitted out for all our needs from mountain poles to coffee machine. It was easy to feel at home straight away. Having stayed in Pitlochry before in a hotel we did wonder if self catering was going to be too much like hard work but with all the facilities the house offered it was fantastic. We hope to return next year. No more anonymous hotel rooms and impersonal shared lounges for us!

A Great Place, We Loved It

  • 4 of 5

We simply had a wonderful three days time here. The apartment is ultra clean and has everything needed for a top-shelf self catered experience. Pitlochry is not overcrowded at this time of year. We like the town as it is in mid-September. This is a lovely and comfortable place to relax and enjoy, a great "base" for exploring the town and the Highlands if you have a car hired. Don't miss the Queen's View. We highly recommend. It's a great value.

Lovely Cottage in the centre of Pitlochry

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this cottage, the owner was helpful right from our enquiry over a year ago to our stay there this week. The housekeeper who lives next door was friendly and helpful too. There is everything you could need for a holiday in the cottage, it is comfortable (best nights sleep for a long time), cosy and well cared for. We were delighted with the "welcome pack" which we weren't expecting. The cottage is a "home from home" and we would love to go back and stay again. Thank you Pat
