Water excursions, a visit to the island, the flower gardens, like Balbianello, Tremezzo and Melzi, and farmers’ markets in Como, are only a few of the destinations which are waiting for you. Even a trip to St. Moritz in the Alps, or Venice and Verona are not too far.
Area: The natural landscape of the area offers lakes for watersports/swimming and majestic mountains for trekking/mountain biking and the views are xpectacular! On the west coast of the lake, where Tremezzo is situated, is very well known for its villas which you can visit. The most important one is in Tremezzo, it is called Villa Carlotto, built in 1750, now converted to a museum with fantastic botanic gardens. You have a different trip every day; next to relax in and around the apartment. Shopping is very good in Como or even in Menaggio, of course Como is a bigger city and offers more shops, but Menaggio is very pretty and has a great atmosphere as well. We can help you rent a bike and much more.
Lombardy - Lake Como Area:
The Italian Lakes are a little slice of paradise. Elegant ribbons of blue water stretch out ahead, folded into the sun-baked foothills, with a spectacular back drop of the snow-capped Alps.
Lake Como offers hidden treasures just waiting for the visitor to discover them: charming corners forgotten by time, lakeside villages where nothing seems to have changed for centuries.
It is steeped in history with an immense collection of churches, architectural masterpieces and works of art covering the centuries. The lake is situated in a basin surrounded by wooded mountains, and offers an extremely varied landscape, with its' shores featuring a succession of pastures, and woods as well as harsh and impressive rock formations.
All this alongside elegant, lakeside villas with sub-tropical gardens, which provide a haven of peace and tranquillity and chic resorts such as Varenna, Bellagio, Menaggio and Como itself.
Warming, in spriing and graced with natural beauty, the lakes are still a place to draw breath and wonder. Lake Como, oriented north-south, ringed by characterful old villages often wedged onto narrow beaches between rugged cliffs and water. Those classic lake images of flower strewn balconies, Baroque gardens and splendid waterside villas can be found here in abundance. Dotted around and between the lakes are some of Italy's finest art cities, such as Milan, Verona & Bergamo.
The most romantic and picturesque villages on the lake are Santa Maria Rezzonico, Varenna (15 min by ferry) & Bellagio (8 min by ferry), Lenno (visit Villa Balbianello, location for 007's Casino Royale as well as Villa Gaeta, right here in Menaggio) & Laglio (where George Clooney owns Villa Oleandra).
We had an absolutely wonderful holiday - Lake Como is simply stunning and we were constantly in awe of its beauty. Thank you for making everything so easy for us. L'Isola was a lovely apartment with a beautiful view. It was clean and comfortable and everything worked fine. Your directions were spot on and we had no problem finding the keys.
We were in Lake Como for a wedding so that was probably our main holiday highlight! But after that the best thing we did was hire a boat and explore the lake. We found an excellent place in Osuccio near the bottom of Via G Castelli - I can't remember the name of the place but the guy who hired us the boat was called Mino and was really nice. We took the boat between 6-8pm and it was the perfect time to go. We had a lovely sunset and it felt like we had the lake to ourselves. I had a swim in a slightly secluded area and the water was just beautiful!
We enjoyed some wonderful meals particularly on the waterfront in Lenno. We ate at the Lido and also at Bar Sport. On our first night, we had a lovely meal at Il Cris - who were conveniently open quite late for when we arrived (might be worth mentioning to future guests). We spent one day by the pool, which was lovely, and also took a trip to Como and went up the funicular railway. The views at the top were simply breathtaking.
Thank you for all your help - from the initial enquiries we made, to that quick call to confirm the location of the communal swimming pool(!), to the instructions for leaving the property, everything went like a dream. I hope we left the property as we found it.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend HHH and L'Isola apartment. Thank you so much - we had such a lovely time we didn't really want to leave!!
We had a lovely holiday staying at this appartment, which was as described and also clean and tidy. The views to the lake were beautiful and we thought the location excellent as it was only a short stroll to the lakeshore at either Campo or the Lido where swimming in the lake was perfect. We did not have a car but it was easy to get around by bus or boat - although buses were only about 1/hr. However, we mainly walked and found plenty to do in the immediate locailty.
The owner was very helpful and friendly. The local supermarket at Lenno had all that was needed. All the restaurants we tried were good and reasonably priced. The only points to note are that the appartment is next to the main lakeshore road which can be quite busy so there is traffic noise but we felt it was Ok for the location, and as the lakeshore is stony it helps to have wetshoes or flipflops to get into the lake and these could not be bought locally. Overall we would certainly return for another stay.
From the house you can walk to the beautiful beach in front of the island of Comacina which you can get to by private boat just in five minutes and enjoy a very special dinner there at the infamous The Locanda restaurant.
The property is in 30 minutes distance from Como by car, and 20 minutes from Menaggio and Bellagio. It is also an ideal starting point for walks up into the mountains or for visiting the historical sites in and around the village. Nearest major attractions towns and villages: Villa Balbianello (Lenno 1km); Villa Carlotta (Tremezzo 5 km); Menaggio (10 km); Como (25 km).
The lovely town of Ossuccio, one of the best starting points for mountain walks, or boats trips on the lake, especially around the beautiful island of Isola Comacina, which you can explore by boat. Why not book a meal at the only restaurant on the island only 2 mins. away away by boat.
Additional Sport & Adventure Activities include:
Bike Rentals, Boat Rentals/Charters, Canoeing/Kayaking, Float Plane/Helicopter, Funicular Railway, Park, Public Transportation, Public Villas & Gardens and Rowing Boats.

Green Fees: Weekdays €55, Weekends and Holidays €70 Euros; Golf Cart Rental €36.
Restaurant Golf at the club serves fantastic food and is well recommended.. Guests are always welcome, please call beforehand to check course rules. Golf Club Menaggio: (Menaggio Como).
This beautiful lake region of Italy is not the best for skiing as you may imagine, despite its scenery, crisp air and near perfect visibilty and mountains capped in winter snow. It does however have Skiing opportunities at local resorts for a day out.
There is a small ski area on Mt. Lema, not more than 10 km from Lugano, but you have to be lucky to have enough snow for skiing. In Ticino, the local Swiss Canton, the best places to ski are probably either San Bernardino (south of the pass of the same name) or Airolo (south of Gotthard pass). Both are reachable in about 1 hour by car across the Swiss border.
There are direct trains to Airolo as well from Lugano and hence from Italian Stations. To S. Bernardino there is only a bus connection. For more snow try Andermatt (on the north side of Gotthard pass) which has normally good snow conditions and a good choice of runs.
The closest major ski resorts are St. Moritz and Madesimo toward the Splugen Pass which is approx.100km.
