About this property

Afton Mountain Guest House | Located on Vineyard

Afton Mountain Vineyards Guest House is the perfect way to celebrate a romantic weekend or a relaxing getaway!   This two bedroom, two bath cottage is located in the heart of a beautiful mountain vineyard. The views that surround this property are breathtaking.  Situated on the sunrise side of Afton Mountain, this property sits at 1000 feet in elevation.   Enjoy sprawling views of grapevines out your back door and the panoramic mountain view that surrounds them.  Please note that the Guest House is located near the Tasting Room.

The property's kitchen is perfectly set up for those wanting to prepare the weekend meals.  Equipped with a gas range and stainless steel appliances, this newly renovated kitchen has all the amenities you will need.  The kitchen island is beautiful piece made from a stone from Madagascar called "Big Blue," and it really shines at night.   Want to take your meal and dine al fresco?  The outdoor patio has a table and outdoor seating for four!  However, your favorite room in the house may very well be the screened in porch with its stunning views.  Here you can sit and sip your morning coffee or evening glass of wine made from the grapes off the vines that fill your view.

The Queen sized master bedroom has its own en suite bath.  The master bath has a marble, double sink vanity, tiled walk in shower, and a deep tub perfect for a relaxing soak!   The second bedroom is located on the terrace level and features a queen bed and en suite bath as well.

One of the biggest amenities is just steps from your front door.  Stroll on over to the Vineyard's tasting room where their knowledgeable staff can tell you about their assortment of wines that they make on site.  Afton Mountain Vineyards is one of Virginia's first farm wineries. The original vines were planted in 1978.  Those blocks are still in production today, and they now grow a total of 15 varieties on 24 acres. Afton Mountain Vineyard's Tasting Pavilion is only open Thursday through Sunday.

The view was fabulous and the location only steps from the tasting room was very nice.
The view was fabulous and the location only steps from the tasting room was very nice. We were there during a very cold weekend. The heat struggled to keep the house warm. The sink in the downstairs bathroom needs to be repaired or replaced because it leaks. N/A

We would have given 5 stars without question but a few things gave us pause.
We would have given 5 stars without question but a few things gave us pause. The interior spaces were clean but are beginning to show use without great maintenance (doors coming off, dishes cracked, outside table top broken, windows/glass doors dirty, porches/deck needing sweeping - plus the things we called in about). We had our elderly mom with us who is still highly mobile. She stayed in the master bedroom. One thing that would have been helpful for her, would have been a small step stool to get into the bed and a single handrail in the toilet area to assist her standing up:-) Given the quality of this property and the stunning setting, even with these minor maintenance issues, we still truly enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend Afton Mountain Vineyard to friends and family. Exceptional response from the team when we called with some issues upon our arrival. Kudos!!!

We LOVE this property.
We LOVE this property. We have stayed previously and plan to stay again, so I hate to bring up any negative items. This visit the property did not seem very clean, however. We are not high maintenance people, so we do not mind a porch or outdoor area having bugs or some dirt, etc. However, the screened porch was very dirty. The pillows were moldy, wrappers were on the ground and there were large glass pieces on the floor from a broken lantern. We have a 2 year old, so that didn't make us very happy. When we arrived, there were also LOTS of flies in the downstairs bedroom where our son was to stay. We don't mind a bug or two getting inside, but these were the "indoor types of flies" that are slow and easy to kill. We killed about 20 of them. The team was very friendly, and we very much appreciated the opportunity for an early check-in.
