About G. 'Blake' Searles (Sirls)

I am a retired military officer and flight instructor. I was born and raised in the Tampa Bay area of Florida where I entered military service. I am a father of three wonderful young adults and a young Grandfather. I find greater reward and satisfaction with the simpler things in life; good food, beverages, nature, and socializing with quality people. I love all types of aquatic related activities; lakes, beaches, and especially the ocean. I also appreciate the beauty of mountains and sunsets and riding my motorcycle. My experiences in life provided me the ability to see 25% of the world, yet I still love to travel.

Why G. 'Blake' Searles (Sirls) chose North West Florida

After spending a 25 year career serving in the military and seeing about one quarter of the world, decided Florida will always be my home. After diligently perusing various areas, found Cape San Blas and Peace Out on the Cape in Barrier Dunes. After considering several other properties, found myself continuously drawn to the whimsical appeal and freshness of the humble abode. The beach at Barrier Dunes is unequivocally the best beach that I have seen in the world. Aside from the fact that the white sugar sand and emerald green water is unmatched, where else can you find an all-natural beach that allows dogs and bonfires?

What makes this townhome unique

A pet friendly beach that allow bonfires as well...

Absolutely Lovely...didn't want to leave!!!

  • 5 of 5

Peace Out On The Cape truly lives up to its name and is a beautifully well maintained and appointed beach home. The online pics are great but it is so much better in person.

And it is a very spacious home and can easily accommodate a group of 6+. The master suite which is upstairs is one of the largest I've seen and has not only its own en-suite but also, a private balcony. The kitchen is stocked with all the essentials so all you need is to bring your groceries...everything else is provided and there are lots of linens. This made our stay super easy and convenient.

One of the best things though is that you are allowed to use the house phone (and for free) to make nationwide calls. This is really nice if you need to call in to work or check on family back home as depending on your provider (I have AT&T), cell service can be real spotty. The wifi was very good and there is cable which in my case was bad because I came home hooked on a new show (Poldark on PBS...check it out :)).

Blake, the owner, made everything super easy for us by providing a really detailed packet of info ahead of our arrival and there are binders with lots of info on the area and things to do. He also provided his contact info which was really nice so if you ever need something or have a question, you can get a hold of him or his cleaning lady. Such wonderful, professional, accommodating service!!! If I could give 10 stars, I would.

The best part though is the BEACH. It is right there, just a few short steps away so short of going out for get the occasional groceries and unless you are into doing lots of sight-seeing, you never need to get in the car...the beach is right there. And it is gorgeous, beautiful blue-green water and the sand is that fine, white, salty kind that you just sink into. The community which is filled with lovely people as well (including those who work there and always make a point of stopping to greet you) is kept immaculate and is super dog-friendly. You will see dogs wherever you go so if you have dogs, don't leave them at home :).

I can't wait to be able to go back and take my dogs with me :). They had perhaps the best time of their lives and they've been lots of places but the look on their little faces was pure joy whenever we went to the beach :).

So, Thank You Peace Out On The Cape for putting big smiles on all our faces, dog and human alike :D.

Great location and beautiful unit!

  • 5 of 5

Peace Out on the Cape was fantastic! This was our first time in Cape San Blas and we loved it! The unit was clean and had everything you might need and more! I loved that the kitchen had lots of extras, including oil, spices, salt/pepper, foil, saran wrap, coffee, sugar, literally everything! There are even lots of beach items provided, like an umbrella, boogie board, beach toys, snorkel gear, and a little buggy to cart it all in. Very considerate! The beach here is absolutely beautiful and we all (humans and canine) loved it! Blake was a great host, very responsive, answered all my questions, and even let us check out a few hours late so that we could make the most of our quick weekend getaway! I would highly recommend this spot to anyone, and we will definitely come back!

Wonderful Stay for Our Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic gated well maintained community and super comfy townhome was a quick walk to beach and both pools. Love the outdoor shower! Home was well equipped, super clean, cozy and pretty. The beach is SIMPLY THE BEST! JUST GORGEOUS! We had a great time kayaking, paddle boarding and a little surf too. Jogged to the park and over the Cone Heads just down the street. Ride your bikes to the Trading Posts for fresh donuts. Can't wait to return.

The perfect vacation house

  • 5 of 5

We vacationed at this home from Monday May 16th -18th and had such a comfortable stay. The house was very organized, clean and welcoming. There was plenty of room for 5 of us to sleep and move about with three balconies to sit on. The house is located very close to the beach and is a short walk like described in the owner's description. There's a neat little shower under the house where you park your vehicle to wash off before entering the foyer. The people in the community were very nice and overall we had a wonderful vacation. Very quiet and slow paced unlike our usual vacations in PCB.

The day we arrived we stopped at the Piggly Wiggly in Port St. Joe before realizing that just down the road there's a new Dollar General Market. Piggly Wiggly was outrageously high. A pack of turkey sandwich meat was almost $7 whereas the same pack at Dollar General was a little over $4. The Dollar General will have almost anything that the Piggly Wiggly carries and more! There's a nice little Mexican restaurant in Port St. Joe where we at at Tuesday afternoon called Pepper's Mexican Grill. Very good and the customer service was great. We also stopped at a road side ice cream and coffee place that's next to the Trading Post. Amazingly good ice cream. The coffee smelled great too but I resisted that urge.

We are already looking forward to returning to Cape San Blas. The only thing we were confused about was the time. Our phones would go back and forth between EST and CST. :) You will absolutely love this house and the owner was always prompt about answering my many questions.
