Our home is of old Florida Cracker architecture updated with central Heat & AC, WiFi (12+ Mbps), 4 TVs, & 15 HD TV Channels including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CW, PBS and more.
Our Living room is a mini-theatre with a 48" Smart TV & 5.1 surround sound system. All TVs have our Netflix account loaded.
Outside you will find 200+ acres of old-growth, upland hardwood forest and pine plantation that have over 5 miles of maintained roads and trails. On our property you can find deer, turkey, gopher tortoise, owls and more.
Guests are invited to hike the roads and trails. Just stay on the cleared paths and look ahead of you for venomous snakes! Use bug spray as mosquitoes can be around any time of the day or night. No motorized vehicles allowed in the woods.
COMING FALL 2018 - Our trails will be open for Equestrian riding as we will allow our Guests to bring their horses. Beginning with 2 stalls and multiple paddocks with run-ins we are excited to add horse-riding to the hiking we currently offer. We will also have two additional homes offered on our property and will be able to host up to 25 Guests at the same time.
Our home is set about 300 yards off the street and beside other homes with their own driveways 50 yards to each side. It is an AgriTourism site as defined by the State of Florida as the "Farmhouse" is located on an active pine tree plantation.
Guests will have access to the entire home other than 2 closets secured with deadbolt locks and marked "Owners Closet."
Our neighborhood is quiet and is not on a commercial street or main highway. The street begins 2 miles away in a residential subdivision in town and ends about a mile past our home. The homes beside ours are lived in by family members and all are on our old family tobacco farm that is now a pine tree plantation.
There is a state managed public lake less than a mile away that has fishing piers, a boat ramp, and plenty of parking space. Suwannee Lake was temporarily closed for a couple of years for renovations but has now reopened. Don't expect to water ski here, at 63 acres its more a fishing pond with quite a few cypress tress.
Our rural community has no public transportation. There is taxi service and an uncontrolled general aviation airport (24J) with one paved 4000' runway about 6 miles away.
A Greyhound bus terminal is about 22 miles away in Lake City. Closest commercial airports are, Valdosta, Ga, 50 mi.; Gainesville, Fl., 68 mi.; Jacksonville, Fl., 90 mi.; Tallahassee, Fl., 95 mi.; Orlando, 185 mi.; and Tampa 200 mi.
Amtrak service to the US mid-Atlantic and Northeastern states as well as Central and South Florida is available from Jacksonville, 83 miles away.
Many people enjoy riding bicycles on our rural highways and there are dozens of miles of paved rails to trails paths within a half-hour.

My wife Vicki and I travel a lot and often have very little or no contact with our guests. However, we employee a full time property manager for our rental home business and he is available for any issues that arise.
Vicki is a Nurse and a Licensed Massage Therapist, MA79845, who specializes in swedish massage, deep tissue, reflexology, neuromuscular therapy, sports massage, and MPS - micro point stimulations. MPS are therapeutic protocols developed to fight chronic pain. She is also certified in Bamboo-fusion massage.
Her schedule can be busy, but subject to availability she offers our Guests a 20% discount off on her regular out-call rates for two or more consecutive massages at the home.
Or, if our Guests find themselves near her Spa in Gainesville, 60 miles away, she offers 20% off any number of massages at in-Spa rates.
Guests booking for longer than 3 weeks are subject to the following:
1) ONLY for Guests booking for longer than 3 weeks, a standard rental application must be completed and approved followed by us both signing a standard lease agreement. We don’t do credit checks but for legal reasons we need to know more about long-term Guests than those who stay a shorter term.
2) ONLY Guests staying more than 3 weeks will be required to transfer electrical power for the home to their own account. The power company is Suwannee Valley Electric Co-op and they have very user-friendly options now for setting up a new account. It can be done online and does not require a deposit if you choose their My Choice Prepaid plan. Call them or find them on the web for details.
