3 Bedroom barn conversion in idyllic rural setting

The barn, a former farm building, has been rebuilt and recently converted into an attractive, comfortable holiday cottage and offers a well-equipped kitchen dining room with oak beams and a stone wall, a comfortable sitting room, bedroom (with large double bed) and shower room on the ground floor. Upstairs there are two attic bedrooms: one double and one twin, and a further shower room. The property forms one side of a range of agricultural buildings in what was the old farmyard. This yard is now an attractive courtyard garden, with lawn area and table and chairs for al fresco dining. The courtyard is adjacent to the owners’ listed home. Many miles of open country and woodland of The Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty surround the property. The area is ideal for walking riding and biking and although quiet and rural enjoys easy access to Westcott village, and the historic market town of Dorking. With easy access by train to London, and good road access to the South of England and coast, the property is ideal as a base visiting this part of England.

Go in springtime if you can

Our visit was in early May when the bluebells and other spring flowers were out. Really beautiful. We were also delighted to see a family of badgers foraging on the lane down towards Westcott village.

As for the cottage...we have stayed in barn conversions before but nothing as well designed as this one. The two shower rooms were particularly pleasing. The furnishings were comfortable and the kitchen area had everything needful for cooking and washing. We managed to get all the food we needed at the bakery and Mace shop in Westcott, which is just a mile down the lane.

Beautiful barn in a perfect position

We loved the whole experience of staying at this barn. The owners were friendly and helpful and we felt really at home during our 5 night stay. Our group of 4 adults, 2 children and our dog were very comfortable and we found we had everything we needed for our stay. The barn is on a quiet lane with walks in every direction. Perfect for family walks with the dog. The walk to Leith Hill was wonderful. We would recommend this barn to anyone looking to visit the Surrey area. Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable.

Ideal cottage for relaxing and exploring

This was our second visit - we liked it the first time, and it was just as nice the second time around. A group of 4 friends, we appreciated plenty of car parking space, the peace and quiet, the welcome cake and tea-making provisions on arrival, the and the warmth and cosiness of the cottage. It's not huge, and the upstairs bedrooms are definitely low-ceiling-ed. It is warm throughout, spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we needed. We really like that we could walk right from the front door - a recommendation is to walk to Leith Hill, or over to the pub at Friday Street. Our only improvement point would be to have a guest book in the cottage. We're already planning our return booking for 2018!

Situated in the Surrey Hills - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on a quiet rural lane about a mile from the village of Westcott, and only 3 miles from Dorking, the barn is ideally located for walking, cycling, riding and mountain biking. With direct access to the Surrey Hills’ extensive network of footpaths and bridleways just go from the door and leave the car behind.

Westcott has a baker’s, post office/village store, newsagents two pubs and an Indian restaurant. There is also a specialist bike shop with mountain bikes for hire. Dorking is a historic market town with a wide range of shops and restaurants, and has a railway station with a frequent service to London. There are several National Trust properties in the area, including Leith Hill Tower, the highest point in Southern England.
