Creekside Cabin--a quiet, wooded country delight

People2
Bedrooms Studio
Bathrooms1
Space 288 sq ft
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

Overview

About the property

We rebuilt an old barnwood-sided cabin from the 1930's to be a unique guesthouse

The cabin is set in the woods with a beautiful garden pathway leading to it. The covered porch overlooks the creek. You may see deer roaming through in the early morning or evening. The interior is decorated with a queen-sized bed, bath with shower, a small refrigerator and microwave.

If what you are looking for is a big kitchen where you can cook and eat just like you do at home, we aren't the place for you. For that reason, we limit stays to one week. But if you're wanting to relax and enjoy the local eateries, we have many to choose from.

About Janie Casad

We have been married since 1982 and have lived here the whole time. Dan is an automotive specialist building special-interest vehicles. Janie is a retired Christian school teacher. We are so thankful to the Lord Jesus for the unique ongoing blessing to live on this property that is so much a part of my heritage.

Janie Casad purchased this cabin in 1977

Why Janie Casad chose Medford

My grandfather purchased the greater property back in the 1920's. My parents bought part of it in the early sixties. When I got married and needed my own place, my parents subdivided again and gave me 3 1/2 acres. On the greater property was this cabin that my great-grandfather had lived in during the depression. My dream was to move it to our side of the creek and rebuild it to be a guest cabin. We completed the project in 2008 and would love to share it with you.

What makes this cabin unique

As you drive across our bridge, you will be greeted by huge oaks that provide shade for the park area. We are bordered on one side by the creek and a well-kept vineyard on the other. The rose garden and other flower beds will delight you. We have strived to create a peaceful, park-like setting apart from the hustle and bustle of life where you can find a quiet place to reflect and smell the roses.

True peace!

  • 5 of 5

The rich history of this quaint cabin makes it such a special treat to be able to actually stay in it! To imagine what it was like to live back then~ The hosts Dan and Janie are two of the most incredible people! They even wrote us out a personal card with a picture of the cabin on front that is the perfect memento of our stay here:) If you want to experience a touch of the Spirit and a closer walk with God play the old record albums on the phonograph while having a good cup of coffee on the deck, ineffable!

Adorable cabin with a rich history and incredibly nice hosts! Attention to detail, great location and what a very cool story this little gem has! Janie and Dan are super duper kind and gracious people. Fresh roses, homemade muffins, a beautiful welcome card and hugs made this experience even better. A must stay! The creek running through made our stay very peaceful and serene. Nice to unplug...

Charming Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently spent five nights at this charming cabin. It is exactly a place we love - just the right size, tucked into a wooded edge along a creek, quiet, dark. I was aware there was no TV and I think I forgot about the no wifi. It is actually a relief (!) to be device-free. We ran into an emergency situation (Santa Rosa fires) in needing wifi so we spent every morning at Nobel Roasters in Ashland (auto wifi and great setting). Thank you to our hosts - you created a wonderful place for people to stay.

Sweet Little Secluded Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This is a great little cabin that's just the right size. The owners were lovely and gave us our privacy, though they were available if we needed anything. They even left a lovely note wishing us a great weekend and some tasty homemade treats to make breakfast special. Access was easy but gated and private. It was a perfect weekend getaway.
