Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday home in Montecorto - Los Dos Pajaros

2 double en-suite bedrooms. Large living area. Outside terrace and roof garden.

Los Dos Pajaros (The Two Birds) is at the top of the oldest and prettiest road in the village. This unique property has been built as an 'upside-down' house with the living area upstairs to take full advantage of the natural rocky terrain and magnificent views From a spacious hall the stairs lead up to the living area. Arched entrances lead to a modern fitted kitchen and to a large lounge/dining area with a real “wow” factor. There is natural rock wall with a small cave - this is where you will find the two birds! There is a comfortable seating area and dining furniture for 6 persons. The space is enhanced, as is the whole house, with paintings, art posters and ethnic artefacts. Patio doors lead to a large half-covered terrace, where you will find everything you need for al fresco living, including a second dining area. An attractive roof garden is set against a backdrop of the hills around. For cooling off in summer there is a tub set into the rock with seating for 4 and a shower.

Safety: 1. Fire is a particular risk in the dry and hot Andalusian area. Take care with the gas cooker and the wood burning stove in the lounge. Candles and oil lamps should not be used inside the house. No smoking is allowed in the house; it is allowed outside on the terrace, however. Radiators must not be covered - safety instructions are beside each one.

2. Gas is used for the cooker and the water heater. Gas bottles are located beside the cooker. As with any gas appliance, care should be taken when using them or when changing gas bottles.

3. Heating.

Electric eco wall heaters must not be covered with clothes nor anything placed too near them This will cause damage and may result in fire. The door of the wood burning stove must be kept shut when in use.

4. Child Policy

The house is not suitable for very young children; from the age of 4 -5 years they will love the house but will require adult supervision on the terrace and stairs.

5. Animals

Pets are not allowed.

Utilities: 1. Water is very scarce in Andalusia and it should be used with that in mind. Please do not use more than you need for a comfortable stay.

2. Electricity is expensive in this area. Please do not use more than you need for a comfortable stay.

3. Heating.

The house has a wood burning stove, and also has electric eco wall heaters in the lounge and bedrooms.

4. Internet.

There is no computer in the house, and no internet access except through personal wireless connections.

5. Telephone.

There is excellent reception for mobile phones.

6. Radio/TV.

A satellite TV (free-to-air UK channels) and a DVD player are available, and a mini hi-fi system.

7. Valuables.

The owner cannot take responsibility for any loss or damage to belongings during your stay. However, Montecorto is a very safe village.

8. Cleaning

Every Saturday (after checkout time) the house will be cleaned. For stays longer than a week, there will be a change of bed linen and towels weekly.

Making your booking and checking in: 1. The deposit to secure your booking is 20% of the total cost of your stay.

2. The balance is due 4 weeks before your date of arrival.

3. Check-in.

The house will be ready for you at 16:00 h. Please collect the key from 16:00 to 19:00 h from the house manager, Anita Martel, who lives just down the same road on the right (at 7 Calle Nacimiento). Anita will then show you the house, the facilities and the safety features of the house. If you are delayed and later than 19:00 h, Anita will leave a notice on her door about the key. Anita does not speak English but is very efficient and will ensure that you have an enjoyable stay. You can park your car in the street in front of Los Dos Pajaros.

life does not get much better than this!

Just returned from a wonderful holiday at La Casita, Montecorto. Fantastic area for walking especially the Mr Henderson's railway and Cat's cave walks. The local villages are stunningly beautiful, none less than the incredibly friendly Montecorto itself.

Without a doubt though the true star of the holiday was La Casita itself. Leonard Cohen once wrote of "the wine you've always wanted to drink, at the table you've always wanted to drink it at, at the price you've always wanted to pay for it..." He describes the La Casita experience perfectly! The cottage is completely charming, beautifully and imaginatively decorated with much attention to detail. The views from the terrace are stunning and Bobby Dylan and Neil Young never sounded better than up there beneath the waxing moon and stars.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

I have returned from an an amazing holiday in Montecorto. This small

White Village in the moutains of Andalacia offered more than I

expepted, the people are very warm & frendly.

The house I stayed in was exactly as the listing, clean, creatively

desgned and well maintained.

The management of the house offered efficient service, nothing was too

much trouble.

The other villages I visited Zahara,Grazalema,Setenil and of course the

Ronda all of which were very different but all breathtaking.Having

visted these lovely places it was such a pleasure coming back to relax

in perfect surrounding and saver the day.

I would strongly recommed the house and Montecorto for a holiday, it is

the sort of place I fell in love with giving me lasting good memories.

Sejour délicieux dans cette charmante maison

  • 4 of 5

Owner's Response: This review translates (we think!) as: delightful stay in this charming house ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We spent a very pleasant week in this lovely house perched at the top of the village, quiet, nice terrace with view, very nice stove for cool evenings, well equipped accommodation and ideal home base for exploring the region (Seville , Ronda, Jerez, Cadiz, Malaga, white villages, the via Verde ...) We would gladly have stayed more !! We are so pleased that this French family enjoyed their stay in Los Dos Pajaros. They liked it so much that they stayed an extra night and we were glad that we could offer them this. Most guests comment on how much they like the quiet terrace and its views. We are always happy when guests appreciate Montecorto as much as we have always done. Keith & Maggie Redway (owners).

Just a Fantastic Holiday

  • 4 of 5

Due to this villa being booked the previous week, we stayed in the smaller villa for week one and then swapped villa for the second week. Anita, the property manager was so helpful as you realise that both villa's had to be checked and cleaned, and the perfect example how well the holiday went as regards to the owners booking process, the information pack that was provided, and the warm friendly service we received while in Monticorto.

For our second weeks stay we were two couples so this villa with its 2 well sized double bedrooms was perfect, as each was afforded all the privacy you'd expect at home. Everything was spotlessly clean. The villa was decorated in a very discreet stylish way that suited its location and surroundings in such a way that you have no option but to relax and fall into the Spanish way of life. It's well equipped as regards to utility room with modern washing machine, the kitchen has everything you need to prepare and cook any kind of meal and the dinning area has a lovely 6 seater table where evenings were spent reflecting on memorable days.

Monticorto is a beautiful, friendly village where you can relax and feel safe and secure. During our stay we done a combination of cycling on wonderfully smooth quiet roads and walking on beautiful well marked footpaths, for which the village is ideally located.

Would I recommend the villa? Yes, as long as you don't try to book it for the same time as I want to when I return next year! What more can I say?

Owner's Response: Once again we are very pleased that our guests had an enjoyable stay and appreciated Montecorto and its warm, friendly people as much as we do. We are also glad that they enjoyed their cycling experiences. Many of our guests are cyclists or walkers taking advantage of the quiet roads and beautiful countryside. To us, Montecorto and the area seem a million miles way from the hectic costa which we try to avoid as much as possible. It is especially nice to hear praise for Anita, our house keeper, who lives in the village. She and her daughter are very hard working and utterly reliable in looking after our house and our guests. The house was left in excellent condition - William and friends are very welcome to stay again next year.

Montecorto, situated on the edge of the beautiful Grazalema National Park, is one of the 'pueblos blancos' (white villages) which are amongst the prettiest in Spain. The views are spectacular, and in cooler months the area has some of the best walking in Europe.

Just a short drive away are the extraordinary Roman theatre and Pileta cave with some of Europe's best cave paintings. Historic Ronda, one of Spain's most spectacular towns, can be reached in 15 minutes and has palaces, art galleries and its famous gorge.

To stay in this friendly village is to witness the real Spain, a world away from the crowds and commercialism of the “Costa.” The village has everything for your needs with bars (some of which serve reasonably priced tapas), two small general stores, two bread shops and a fish shop. For eating out there is a restaurant at the edge of the village. There is also a bank and a garage. For summer visits there is lovely swimming pool, just 3 minutes walk from the property.
