Close-in easy access to I-5 freeway, #4 bus line, and yellow max line; walking distance to desirable shops, markets, restaurants, bars, parks, and more!

About Sam Dyer

As fate would have it, Sam and Stephanie first met as neighbors in Southeast Portland. Sam, from rural Wisconsin with a degree in film and photography from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, met Stephanie who was about to embark on a design career in 2003. With a passion for music, architecture, and the arts, the pair sought to create a home for themselves in the dynamic city of Portland. Eager to start their lives together and willing to invest sweat equity, Stephanie and Sam purchased the main house at 705 North Humboldt Street in fixer condition before tying the knot in 2005. After a comprehensive DIY renovation and the birth of their first child in 2010, the ever-optimistic couple embarked on yet another project- employing Harding Construction, they demolished what was an unsalvageable garage to build an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). Stephanie, with her design background, originally envisioned the building to comfortably accommodate her parents and inlaws. It was only in time that the project intentions expanded to accommodate visitors to the city they had come to love- specifically a short-term vacation rental.

Among many personal touches, this project showcases two of Stephanie's product lines: the Topo Collection for Clayhaus Ceramics (the 3D ceramic wall tile used in the kitchen, fireplace surround, and stair risers), and Archipelago Tile- the patterned cement tile flooring installed throughout the first floor and exterior stoops.

We felt VERY Welcome by the owners!

Prior to arriving we had multiple email communications, about our late evening arrival, and felt the owners were very accommodating. When we arrived things were as we had arranged, which is always welcoming! The instructions about operating the gas fireplace were clear, and easy to understand. When an issue came up during our stay and we emailed the owners , the response was quick. The parking on the street was easy, which can be a problem in the Mississippi Street area where the shops and restaurants are located,. The neighborhood is very quiet. The location and access was very convenient off I-5. The décor in the house is simple , and comfortable. The title work used through out the house is amazing!

Cozy tiny home close to great food

I've been to Portland a few times but this has been my favorite rental so far! It's a perfect spot a couple blocks away from food, bars and shops on historic Mississippi St. My partner and I stayed for a long weekend and the house had everything we need. Would highly recommend this spot!

An adorable bungalow

My husband and I loved staying at this adorable bungalow in North Portland. I liked that we were in a quiet neighborhood but close enough to downtown Portland. There was plenty of street parking for our car. The house was close to a lot of great restaurants: we’d happily walk the mile to the popular stops on Alberta Ave. An Uber to downtown or Alberta Ave stops is inexpensive.

The house is well stocked with anything you might need. Sam sent me a welcome message asking if we needed anything. It was a nice gesture. There is no air conditioning or heating but there are plenty of windows to let in a breeze and a great ceiling fan. One night was cool and we turned on the gas fireplace which heated up the house quickly.

We absolutely loved staying here and if we ever return to the area would definitely want to stay at this adorable bungalow again.
