The Cabin Apartment has a kitchen, bathroom, living room, multiple parking spaces, a private entrance, Internet and a small tv w Roku box. It's nestled in a nice quiet neighborhood with glimpses of the lake. Though modernized, it still retains a rustic cabin feel. It's in walking distance to the famous Tudor House with live entertainment and food. Enjoy beautiful walks surrounded by trees, drive to the village, lake, local shopping, restaurants and Santa’s Village. All just 5 minutes away.
Stop by on your way up or down the mountain on a visit to Big Bear. We are approximately 1 mile from HWY 18.
The kitchen has a toaster, coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator and electric stove. There are dishes, pans, cooking utensils, cutting boards and so forth. No oven.
The bedroom has a full/double sized bed. There is also a fold out couch in the living room. If you have kids, they are welcome but please let me know ahead of time. I know it's hard to afford to travel with kids, I have one. The neighbors are all very nice. There is a patio with a table and chairs right outside the front door. Enjoy a nice lunch outside with the Stellar Jays.
I may be on and off the property during your stay. If you happen to see me pass by in the driveway say hi if you like. I'll do my best to respect your privacy but if you want to chat I'll do that as well. If you need anything while you are there just let me know. I'm happy to help out in any way possible.
Oversized vehicles might be an issue as there is no street parking and the driveway entrance is a bit narrow. Everyone’s been able to park just fine so far.
Keep the weather in mind! In the winter, when it rains it sometimes snows. Snow can happen Oct-May, check your weather apps. Bring chains for your tires and bring a shovel for your car. Check Caltrans for road conditions and make sure you are prepared. If you are concerned about traveling in the snow, plan your trip at a different time of year.
Some questions I've been asked:
I don't know anything about local fishing so please do your research. Same goes with boats.
There are multiple lakes in the area. Some may have restrictions while others may not.
Available dates, please check the calendar for available dates. I try to keep this as up to date as possible. If it's open and you want to book it, request a booking or send an inquiry.
Please notify me if you need access to the fold out couch. I will provide you with info on where to locate extra sheets and blankets or feel free to bring your own. Kids often seem to really like to sleep in their sleeping bags. It’s an adventure. Also please note that the fold out is a bit older and would be better suited for kids or young adults. We've had some adults sleep on it and they were fine. If you have back issues though you may want get dibs on the bed.
Absolutely no smoking of any kind anywhere on the property. We are in fire country. Please respect this rule.
Snow, hail, power outages and road closures do happen on rare occasions in all mountain areas. Power poles, trees and other can sometimes take down a pole. The county works very hard to get everything up and running and sometimes in very harsh conditions. Make it an adventure, pull out the lantern, play games, have fun. It will be a great story some day! It's not often but we just wanted to let you know. We understand this is inconvenient when it happens. I will do whatever I can to make your stay more pleasant during these situations and keep you posted with updated info as I know it. Like most mountain rentals, we do not do refunds for conditions that are out of our control.
Please note: We do not accept checks or cashiers checks. HomeAway/VRBO and associates assures us that payment through their site via credit card is secure. All our renters have had safe and successful online experiences during their booking process. My apologies for even having to mention this but I get messages asking me to do this all the time.
Have fun and safe travels out there! Feel free to ask me any questions about any of the above or anything that I have not mentioned here.
