The Margaretha is a fantastic 74 feet motor yacht laying in the Beautiful Port Forum in Barcelona. There are various spacious decks that provide lots of space for sunbathing and drinking cocktails. Instead of watching TV in a boring hotel room after a long day of sight seeing and exploring, your day just starts when you come aboard of the Margaretha! It’s like being on a quiet island in the middle of a vibrant city. Outside we created a fantastic kitchen with a perfect grill for shrimps etc, connected to a big lounge area. With 100sqm interior area, you have all the comfort that you have in a house yet you are on a yacht in a beautiful marina. Inside you find 2 spacious lounges with a great music system and television and DVD. You will find a well equipped kitchen here as well.
Private Harbour Police (24 hrs a day) guarantees your safe haven!.
Free parking space for 1 car.
Barcelona: One of the most popular European destinations, Barcelona is a minute away. Barcelona is Spain's most cosmopolitan city and is best known for its Gaudi architecture, pulsating night life and avenues for strolling along.
There is plenty of family fun, with an excellent aquarium, IMAX cinema and shopping malls. Only 45 minutes away is Port Aventura, the second biggest theme park in Europe. Set up by Universal Studios, it has one of the fastest roller coasters and rides for all ages.
The yacht was the perfect base for our family when we stayed 3 days in Barcelona at the end of our summer holidays in Spain. A very charming and elegant way of living - quite opposite from a noisy and busy city hotel. We were a family of four - plenty of space to strech out and even entertain guests for drinks&dinner in the evening. The kids totally loved the place - actually hard to bring them along to our planned city visits and sights. On the negative side....? Well, she is placed in Port Forum which turned out to be a quite "dead" area and with taxi distance to the city, You can take the tram/underground, however somewhat cumbersome. The yacht is not luxurious or impeccable, it you require that. She is 30 years old and with a lot of charm!
I will start my review by saying that we had a great time staying in the harbor! The atmosphere was fantastic who knew sitting on deck watching the world go by could be so relaxing it was fantastic! The boat however was a huge letdown! The boat was very old and dated the toilets come with strict instructions not to use them all except for the smallest of visits (to put it politely) and no toilet paper is ever to be put in the toilet....being on a boat we totally understand this now! but had this huge lack of facilities been made clear before we would have chosen to stay somewhere else, and then the shower leaked so badly that it was unusable......there were showers and toilets a short walk away so with a change in mindset we all coped very well :-)
The next disappointment was the cooking area on deck, we were all so excited to cook outdoors in the evening and enjoy a meal together as advertised as a feature of the boat....well that didn't work either so another letdown we made the best of it and used the hob in the kitchen below deck which was a very hot job and not a pleasant place to be, especially as most of the lights were not working!!! We moved the dining table a little so we could seat 6 people around it only to find the trap door below it was broken!..a potentially very dangerous accident waiting to happen!!!! Needs to be fixed asap!!
The advertised WIFI was none existent unless you went on shore and to the top of the building adjacent which conveniently had an elavator to take you up there (no wifi was ok with the adults but my two teenage boys were unimpressed!!) I could go on and on and list many more problems but will end this review by saying we have never had so many mosquito bites as we got on this boat (obviously not the owners fault but a situation to know about) they were everywhere and feasted on us as we slept, I taped sheets over the windows but they still got into the bedrooms somehow and as it was such glorious weather we really could have used the supplied fans but they did not work sufficiently and there was no surfaces in most of the bedrooms to sit fans on anyway! We have stayed in many places through owners direct and this is the first bad experience we have had! It was all very, very disappointing!! I could not recommend this place to anyone, sorry!!
It was a nice boat. The website indicated that it was air-conditioned and that was not the case. WiFi was not working. There was no one to receive we arrived.
Ons verblijf was top! Met 8 vriendinnen hebben wij een geweldige tijd gehad. 4 goede slaapkamers! Prachtig achterdek, heerlijk voordek. Top vakantie.
We spent a lovely week at the Margaretha in July 2014.
Margarethea contains several lovely cabins and a fantastic outdoor well equipped kitchen, where you have plenty of opportunities to cook food and enjoy quiet evenings in Port Forum.
Port Forum is not interesting, but it is easy to get from Port Forum into the city center, with the underground or tram. (10 -15 minutes walk.
Marbella Beach is 20-25 minuts walk away.
I booked this for a group of 7 friends and it slept all of us comfortably. With the combination of the deck and the interior communal areas there is more than enough room, and we found it a far more enjoyable experience than just staying in an apartment. The whole group were excited to stay on the boat and it didn't disappoint. Servais (the owner) was kind enough to stock the fridge with a couple of bottles of Cava on arrival, which served as a great start to a fantastic weekend. Needless to say, come the end of the visit we didn't want to leave!
