Relax on the private lanai, a stone’s throw to the crashing waves. At night be amazed by the moon and a sky full of stars...in the morning watch glorious sunrises over the blue Pacific Ocean, sipping your fresh-brewed Kauai coffee! Located on the Royal Coconut Coast, just 10 minutes from the Lihue airport, it's a convenient starting point for day trips over the entire island. Close to golf, Lydgate Park, kayaking on the Wailua River, Luaus, bike paths, swimming and restaurants. See the aerial photo, we're on the quiet side of the complex that sits furthest from the road.

This direct oceanfront condo has one bedroom, with A/C and King bed. You'll sleep like a baby on the memory foam topper and luxury sheets. Enjoy the completely renovated spa-like bathroom, and full kitchen including a dishwasher. The living room has a love seat and queen size sofa bed. As owners we personally manage our condo, answer your questions, and visit 2 or 3 times a year to ensure all is as promised. We have a fantastic on-island staff, should any need arise. Scroll down and read our reviews, over 90 in less than 5 years of ownership, with several from returning guests. Look for reviews on other popular travel sites, there are several for our condo, search Wailua Bay View #214. We continually upgrade and improve our home away from home. Just added: all new carpeting, with super-soft pad underneath, and a key-less entry system, for convenient check-in. Check what guests have said in the "Reviews" about our double-paned noise reduction windows in the bedroom. They open for breezes, and close tightly for a quiet night's sleep.

There’s 2 flat screen TV’s with cable, and Blu-Ray player. You’ll find coolers, plenty of beach towels, beach chairs, and beach umbrella. Use the BBQ grills and swim in the newly renovated pool downstairs. Peruse our many guide books, and our Guest Binder with recommendations for restaurants, tours, and boat trips we’ve personally experienced. We list the local Farmer’s Markets, including one at the Coconut Marketplace, a 5 minute walk away. You can walk to many restaurants, bakeries, shops, kayak and bike rental locations, and great beaches. The spectacular, newly completed Kauai Bike/Walking Path is right out front.

It’s 750 sq. feet of paradise, with everything you need for your island escape...the only thing missing is YOU! Remember to plan ahead, our calendar stays pretty full.

Plan a multi-island trip, for Kauai and magical Maui and get a discount! Under the "Owner Info" tab, there's a link for our other rental listing, an oceanfront studio condo in Kahana, West Maui (vrbo.com/770866) that we've been blessed to own since Oct. 2015. It's been getting 5-star reviews too, and has a great location between Ka'anapali and Kapulua. We'll waive Maui's cleaning fee ($100) if you book concurrent stays in both condos for your Hawaiian getaway!

Come to Hawaii and explore an island paradise. You’ll hike, golf, shop, snorkel and sunbathe, but the irresistible pull of our lanai and those mesmerizing waves will call you back…you won’t want to leave! Feel the Aloha spirit, and enjoy your Hawaiian holiday!

About Jim and Crystal Ham

My husband and I grew up in Northern California, and we love the ocean! A 20 year naval career allowed us to frequently live near water on both coasts and 2 countries overseas. During our travels we've stayed in many different types of accommodations, the good and the not so good. We know what works! We love our little "home away from home" we've been blessed to own since 2012, and can't wait till retirement so we can spend spend more time there.

In October 2015 we purchased another little piece of paradise on Maui, a large oceanfront studio at Pohailani Maui in Kahana. You'll find it at vrbo.com/770866. If you're going to Hawaii, you need to be oceanfront! Come be our guests, and experience the the Aloha and magic of Hawaii. Visit our condos in Maui and Kauai, and we give a discount (one cleaning fee) for concurrent stays. (Stays must be booked at the same time).

We love all of Hawaii, and especially Kauai for the incomparable beauty and rich lush landscapes. It offers diverse adventure, in an uncrowded atmosphere, and hearkens back to the Hawaii of old. We’re happy to share our condo, and spread the Aloha!

Why Jim and Crystal Ham chose Kauai

Wailua Bay View Unit 214 offers the oceanfront location we love, with privacy and convenience. It allows you to enjoy real Hawaii, with all the comforts of home! With a full kitchen, you'll spend less on eating out. Pack lightly, because you'll have a washer/dryer in the unit!

What makes this condo unique

Within seconds of walking into this condo, as you approach the sliding doors to the lanai, you will experience the breezes, the roar of the surf, and the wide open ocean in front of you! You'll watch surfers, paddle boarders, and sometimes outrigger canoe races! Watch for the occasional turtle bobbing in the waves, and whales in the winter. At night, you'll be lulled to dreamland by the sound of the crashing waves. The moon rising and reflecting off the water will be stunning! (Try to come during a full moon!) You will feel right at home, and won't want to leave!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I don't know when one of my "spur of the moment" trips has ever turned out so smoothly. I attribute it all to my hosts.

First, your vacation condo was available; second, it is so perfectly stocked! Kitchen items, beach items, and what a comfortable place to hang. The bed is very comfortable. Thank you for the high end sheets, towels, dinner dishes and silverware.

You have thought of everything and you should know that it hasn't gone unnoticed. Your perseverance is looking for the perfect view, location, and atmosphere completely paid off!

Perfect location, well-equipped unit, awesome view.

We loved our time in Kauai, staying at Wailua Bay View condos. Everyone always talks about staying South (Poipu) or North (Princeville), but what about East? I really wasn't sure about the location going in, but it was ideal and I wouldn't stay anywhere else! I think staying on the East side is the best kept secret of Kauai! It is conveniently located to head in either direction. We found an awesome, very private beach just minutes from the condo. There are a few restaurants within walking distance which is nice. The condo itself was great. Can't beat the ocean front view. We slept so soundly with the darkening shades! The kitchen comes fully equipped and there are beach essentials too like chairs, umbrella and cooler. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. I have already recommended this condo to friends and family and I wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else were I to return again.

Owner's Response: Aloha Dina, Thanks for the great review! I remember you weren't sure about the location at the outset, we're glad you've discovered the big secret...the east side rocks!! You are smack in the middle of the entire island, oceanfront of course. We also love the range of restaurants nearby you can walk to, from "toes in the sand", to bakeries, to organic food in a garden setting, to sushi, to pizza and beer, it's amazing! Keep telling our little "secret"...we love the referrals! Until your return, we wish you much Aloha, Crystal and Jim

Extreme serenity

  • 5 of 5

This was by far one of the best condos we have had the pleasure of experiencing. They had everything including beach chairs and a cooler for your use at the beach. It was the best location and easy to get to anywhere while on the best beach we experienced on Kauai. The beds were the most comfortable and the sheets were so nice, my husband wants to know where to purchase them. I highly recommend this condo directly overlooking a wonderful beach with plenty of good restaurants in walking distance.

Owner's Response: Aloha Sandy, Thanks for the review, I'm so glad you and your husband liked the new sheets! We change out the linens twice a year, and this brand of sheets came highly recommended. Shopping on an island is limited, that's why when visit 2 or 3 times a year, we bring many items in our suitcases! It's worth it to get comments like yours! Come back soon and visit again...Mahalo and Aloha, Crystal and Jim

Great location, amazing view!

  • 5 of 5

The condo has an amazing view, you'll want to make sure you catch sunrise every morning as we did. The crashing waves on the very close beach below made for a pleasant background. This unit is very well stocked, everything you need in the kitchen, for the beach, and to entertain yourselves in the unit as well. The bed was very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet at night and we rarely heard any roosters crowing, the same can not be said for other locations throughout the island. Simply put, this unit is a great value you will enjoy!

Owner's Response: Aloha, and thanks for the great review! Watching the sunrises is also one of our favorite things...the sky is never the same, and always beautiful. Glad you enjoyed the comfy bed, that memory foam topper makes all the difference. And you're right, you won't find a better oceanfront value on the island. Come back soon, until then wishing you much Aloha! Mahalo, Crystal and Jim

A fantastic home away from home

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived in Kauai, it was late so we were pretty much getting organized to settle in when we arrived at the condo and what a wonderful condo it was. It was roomy, clean and had everything we needed for the three of us (my husband, 9 year old daughter and myself). My daughter slept on the hide a bed sofa in the living room and instantly fell asleep to the sound of the waves. The next morning I had my cup of coffee and watched the surfers, listened to the waves and enjoyed the tropical breeze.

The condo was well equipped. We were able to make all of our meals and they had everything we needed for everyday functioning. We made our lunches each day and packed it for our day trips. They had a couple of different types of coolers which came in really handy. We brought our snorkelling gear but they had some gear available if we needed it. Having a washer/dryer came in really handy especially after our wet and muddy hike at Waimea Canyon. The location of the condo was perfect for us. When we wanted to do a day trip or head out to the beaches, the drive was quite reasonable, plus the drives around Kauai are lovely, so it worked out well for our family. The beach close to the condo, in my opinion was a bit to rough for swimming, it was more of a surfing beach but certainly good for a walk and for great views from our balcony.

Overall, I really enjoyed this condo. It was very clean, well maintained, great location, excellent view and had everything we needed. We are so glad we found this condo and would absolutely recommend it and would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you again Crystal for your kindness and for everything, we really enjoyed our stay and look forward visiting Kauai again.

The Powerful Pacific with the Best View in the East

  • 5 of 5

My wife and 2 daughters (age 10/13) had the opportunity to stay in this unit beginning Christmas day for 3 nights. Everything was as described, and even better in person. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed to make wonderful meals to sit out on the lanai with. The ocean was so powerful during our stay and the crashing waves made a very nice backdrop while inside. We much appreciated the A/C in the master bedroom, along with the sound dampening windows. With the trade wind breezes and fans, the pullout bed in the living room was very pleasant and no A/C was needed. My girls even had to turn off the fan and close the lanai screens to "stay warm". We saw a sea turtle onshore, and went body surfing just down the stairs to the south. The convenient store, just steps away from the unit, was great for grabbing quick items and filling the car before having to leave and head to the airport 10 minutes away. Great access to the southern and northern beaches and many restaurants within walking distance. We can't wait to return! We will definitely recommend this to our friends and hope to get back soon. Thank you making our Christmas vacation one to remember!

Notes:
Restaurants, bakeries, shops, and the Coconut Marketplace are all within walking distance. You're steps away from the half-mile long Wailua Beach, which encompasses Wailua Bay and Wailua River State Park. There's a long, paved beach walk/bike trail right in front of the complex. You can walk along the beach to the north, to a keiki (children's) pool, and a sacred heiau (ancient Hawaiian temple). Only 5 minutes away from Lydgate Park, with protected snorkeling ponds and a fantastic playground. Wailua Bay View is all about the 'bay view'! And although you can swim in Wailua Bay, it is known for swells and riptides. Not for novices! That's why the local surfers and bodyboarders love it, and they are fun to watch!
