Best Home Away Property yet!
I've used Home Away multiple times over the years. And after coming to New Bern a few times on vacation to visit friends, I decided to ditch the Marriott and stay someplace much more homey, and this house is it! The pictures do not do it justice. It is roomy, comfy, and located within walking distance to everything you could possibly want to do down town. It has central air for the hot weather, a fully stocked kitchen, both a living room and an off the kitchen family room. The two bedrooms upstairs are beautifully furnished. And the beds....let me tell you about the beds. I usually have to go to the chiropractor after I sleep in a strange bed while traveling because if it is too firm it flares up my back issues. Both myself and my girlfriend both have back problems. She took one bedroom and I took the other. By far the comfort of the beds far exceeded both our expectations. No pain, slept through the night and woke up extremely well rested. I will always rent this house going forward when I stay in New Bern. It is a no brainer. Also worth mentioning is the beautiful artwork that adorns every wall through out the house. I was admiring one of the paintings closely and noticed the signature of the artist 'Kippy'....then I went around and inspected the rest of the art...it is all painted by the current owner who is a gifted artist and proudly displays her work throughout the house. So not only are you staying in an historical home, you are practically sleeping in an art gallery! It was a nice surprise. Something tells me that this property will soon become very popular and booked up months in advance once more people stay here and give feedback. You can't keep a place like this secret in the home away community. Can't wait to come back in 2018!
Thank you for your beautiful review. It literally gave me chills to have someone appreciate the property as much as I do. And you can't know how pleased I am that you liked the art work. I look forward to having you return.....hopefully you will find some new artwork inspired by New Bern. What a special place!!
Wonderful vacation home
My husband and five other family members stayed in New Bern for six days. The house is warm and cozy~~we were extremely comfortable there. Downtown shops and restaurants are just a few blocks away, making it easy to explore both day and night. The Atlantic coast is about 90 minutes away. One day was spent at Atlantic Beach; another day we took a ferry to Shackleford Island to look for shells and see the wild horses, and we also visited the Cape Lookout Light Station. So much to see and do! Other days were spent relaxing on the screened porch enjoying a rainstorm or just sitting in the house enjoying each other's company. It was a perfect place for our time in NC!
Wonderful New Bern Home
The Smith House is in the perfect location to enjoy the New Bern Downtown scene. It is literally around the corner from Tryon Palace and a short walk to all downtown restaurants. Kristina was more than accommodating before and during our stay. The house was equipped with everything needed for a relaxing stay!
Very clean and quiet
Great place to stay. Close and convenient to the downtown area. Owner was very accommodating. My wife left a shoe behind and they found it and shipped it back to us.
Exactly what we needed
This house was perfect for our stay. It was lovely and comfortable, and everything we needed was there. Great location - easy to find and close to downtown. We would definitely stay here again.
This charming house was more than what we expected. It was perfect for the six of us with three bathrooms and three bedrooms. It is very well stocked and close to all the historic sites in New Bern. Kristina was wonderful to work with. We loved how they had kept as much original as possible from the 1850 house. We would definitely come back to this house. You won’t be disappointed!!!!
Hello Sharon...I am happy you enjoyed the house during your stay. I came in right after you and am enjoying every minute of being here in New Bern....I am so lucky to have gotten this property....it has such a welcoming feel, I always am looking forward to returning, so I can relate to your comments.. Kristina
