About the property

Large, spacious home with 7 Bdrms and 5 Baths. Living Rm, Full Dining Rm, Rec rm

My beautiful restored, Victorian is a large 7 bedroom home that sleeps 16 (in real beds), can accommodate more if needed, it is very soundproof, and filled with art 🖼!

The kitchen is fantastic with 2 convection ovens, 5 burner stove, Keurig Coffee and reg coffee maker (I supply ☕️ ). The mission style dining room is large and will seat 8-10!! Lots of 🍷 glasses!!!

All the first floor rooms and deck have in wall speakers and separate volume controls. About 2-3000 albums to enjoy! A 🎹piano,🎸 guitar and bass, if you play are available.

Two interior sitting areas, the first floor living room and a large carpeted rec room in the basement (connected to the rec room is another sleeping area with 2 twin beds) 🛏

The basement, first floor and master bedroom all have radiant heat in the FLOORS! The house also has AC on the top two floors, the first floor has a portable AC unit.

The backyard is the BEST!! You will see!!!🌼

I recently purchased a dozen 🚴 bicycles 🚴 that are available for MY GUESTS!! Enjoy a bike 🚴 ride along beautiful shores of Lake Michigan to a Festival, through the parks and on all of Milwaukee's great BIKE 🚴 PATHS I'm close to all the major festivals and you'll be able to bike right to the front of your event!!!

My neighborhood is on the National Register of Homes (amazing architecture on every block!) We are close to historic Lake Park🌳Par 3 🏌 / ⛳️⛸🏒🎾 / ⚾️ /

great for walks🚶 / jogging 🏃 biking 🚵 or touring the lighthouse.

The house is close to several excellent small restaurants (over a hundred in a two mile radius)

You’ll love my place because EVERY else does!! Very, very comfortable quiet home with a yard 🌻I'm very proud of (I built almost everything you see and love to garden). My place is great for, families (with kids), big groups, families attending weddings, and 🐶'a that are under control (yappy 🐶 's ???).

My driveway will handle 3-4 🚗'a and it is simple to sign up for special night parking with the city of Milwaukee (the street parking isn't at all busy, the neighbors use there driveways).

FYI....Most insurance companies do NOT cover short term rentals (be sure to ask). I had to switch to one that does, my own rates doubled but my guests and I have got a excellent policy that covers the stuff that isn't supposed to happen!

Hope this helps and if you have any further questions or requests I would ❤️ ❤️ to hear from you and hope the house will exceed your expectations!!!

Cheers!! 🥂🍻

About Keith Johnson

I'm a father of 4 grown children and I'm still very young at heart. I own Brighter Concepts (Wisconsin's Solatube Skylight dealership) in Shorewood, and love what I do. Construction is also a hobby and I build almost everything seen in the house pictures from the stonework in my yard to the kitchen cabinets. I'm always building or fixing something in this historic home.

All the gardens are my seasonal relaxation.

My other MAJOR passion is playing jazz/ blues / R and B piano!! I'm active in playing in bands, so I'm performing or at band practice about 2-3 nights a week.

HAVING A WEDDING OR EVENT??? I'M A PROFESSIONAL PIANIST THAT PLAYS IN SEVERAL OF MILWAUKEE'S EXCELLENT BANDS. BIG BANDS, A JAZZ COMBO AND SOLO PIANO . IF YOUR INTERESTED, I WOULD BE HAPPY TO PROVIDE EVERYTHING NEEDED.

I garden, cook, do long dog walks and bike rides, a attend several theater / dance / and arts events, and love taking my boat up the Milwaukee River.

The sports I really enjoy is watching the Packers, March Madness and the final series of many other sports.

My newest gig is preparing my home for YOU and I enjoying being a host!!!

From what I see, my home, my yard, my location and my rates are the best everything!! Just saying :)

Why Keith Johnson chose Upper East Side

26 Years ago I picked this neighborhood and home because I has looking to start a family and wanted a home that was in a safe historic neighborhood. Close to parks, good schools, a university, Lake Michigan and Lake Park.

When I bought the house it was split into three apartments and the fun began. It became my weekend hobby for many years. Slowly transforming back into a beautiful home.

During the re-construction many modern features where added which transformed the comforts of new construction into a 100 year Victorian.

The kids (and ex wife) have grown and moved and I'm not ready to leave the house. Short term renting is working great and I may be in this for years to come!!

What makes this house unique

What is so unique about my home is the complete package my guests receive. I beautiful large home in one of Milwaukee's finest and safest neighborhoods. Discover Milwaukee and discover the best valued home on Milwaukee's upper east side!!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Keith met us at check in and made us feel welcome. The house is old and filled with art and in a quaint neighborhood. A walk around the area was worth the time. All amenities were perfect for a large group! We filled the house with 11 people for a retirement getaway and remained friends after a 2 night stay.

The size we needed, but a little rough

  • 3 of 5

There are very few places that offer the space that this house has. We enjoyed being able to spread out and being close to restaurants and shops. The house is in need of some repairs, but it didn't affect our stay.

Perfect for our weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We rented Keith's house for my daughter's 50th birthday. 10 girls had a "girls get-away" weekend in Milwaukee, and the house was a great place to accommodate them. There was plenty of room and a generously stocked kitchen! They found a fabulous album collection and turntable that provided much fun for the group. Plus Keith was easy to communicate with and extremely flexible with the arriving/departing times. We highly recommend this unique home!

A great place!

  • 5 of 5

Our group went for a weekend trip and the house had everything we were looking for! Keith was very accommodating with our check in time, and even met us there to show us the house. The place was clean, and we really enjoyed our stay! The main floor living room area seemed to be a little colder than the rest of the house, but it was very cold weather those few days, so it's understandable.

Amazing multi-family retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a large multi-family gathering and this house was perfect. It was not only unique and had character, but also provided us with the space to spread out (in one of the many bedrooms) or gather together in the comfortable living room/dining room. This house worked for our large group, from age 10 months to 78 years. The backyard was great too! Another picturesque gathering spot. The host, Keith, was great! He accommodated every need we had and even let us check in early. Definitely A+ for our vacation to Milwaukee.

East Side is a neighborhood of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, considered to be a cultural and trend-setting center of the city since at least the 1960s. Encompassing an area just north of downtown Milwaukee to Shorewood, bordered by the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan, the area encompasses residences, bars, shops, art theaters, live music clubs and the University of Wisconsin

–Milwaukee campus.

The East Side is considered by some as Milwaukee's melting pot, with a mix of hipsters, hippies, college students and young professionals converging in the area's diverse restaurants, bars and stores. The area is also known for its historic architecture, such as St. Hedwig's, on Humboldt Avenue. With the exception of St. Hedwig's, the buildings of the area reflect the styles popular in Milwaukee, including the Italianate, Queen Anne, Classical Revival, and the German Renaissance Revival.

Looking northwest along North Downer Avenue. The Downer shopping district that stretches south from East Park Place is in the foreground. UW-Milwaukee is in the distance.

Oriental Theatre, a movie palace still in operation, was built in 1927. The newer University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee was created in 1956. Brady Street became the focus of Milwaukee's counter-culture in the 1960s, with Brady Street Days, head shops, and Kitchen Sink Press, one of the world's largest underground comics publishers. Recently the area has seen gentrification, with many housing assessments doubling; commerce continues to grow in the neighborhood as a result of continued private and developer investments.

The east side is home to renowned parks. Frederick Law Olmsted - famed designer of New York's Central Park - designed both Lake Park and Riverside Park (originally "River Park"), with Newberry Boulevard being the deliberate connector between the two.[1] Lake Park is part of Milwaukee's "Grand Necklace of Parks" and is known for lawn bowling; a French restaurant, the Lake Park Bistro; and the North Point lighthouse. In addition, a good share of the Oak Leaf Trail is routed through the neighborhood.

Frederick Law Olmsted (1822 – 1903)

Frederick Law Olmsted was the leading landscape architect of the second half of the 19th century, and the architect of Lake Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Olmsted is perhaps best known for the design and creation of Central Park in New York and the U.S. Capitol grounds in Washington, D.C.

The design concepts employed by Olmsted and his partners have 15 elements in common:

1. They are man-made works of art.

2. They have their roots in the English Romantic style.

3. They reflect a Victorian influence.

4. They provide a strong contrast with the city.

5. They are characterized by the use of bold landforms.

6. They provide a balance between turf, wood and water.

7. They use vistas as an aesthetic organizing element.

8. They contain a series of planned sequential experiences.

9. They provide for the separation of traffic.

10. They provide visitor services.

11. They contain artistically composed plantings.

12. They integrate the architecture into the landscape.

13. Each has provision for a formal element.

14. They are characterized by variety.

15. They are built to provide for recreation.
