We had a brilliant time in the apartment - the best 'Staycation' we have ever had.....the views from the apartment were just amazing....I could never tire of looking at the water.
The 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms was just perfect for a girly weekend as we each got our own bedrooms so didn't have to listen to anyone else snoring..!! and no queuing for the shower in the mornings or worry about clearing away all our toilitries for the next person waiting to use the bathroom - we all agreed it was just the perfect setup and can't wait to go back again in 2011
The stunning views of the beautiful bay, changing with the tides, and the amazing sunrises and sunsets: these are the most memorable things about the apartment for us. The rooms are spacious, nicely furnished, comfortable beds with high quality linen, excellent kitchen. Lisa met us and was most welcoming and helpful. Lovely walks on the path around the bay were suitable for both an energetic toddler and a slightly disabled grandfather. It was extraordinary to find two excellent restaurants, The Mourne Seafood Bar and the Buck's Head, both within a short walking distance. We greatly enjoyed our stay.
The apartment could not have been better. Very pleased hope to return one day.
The property is amazing. Very comfortable beds & great facilities in the property. We loved it. Waking up in the morning and being able to open the patio doors in the lounge onto the balcony and watch the tide go in and out was great. So peaceful and relaxing. Would definitely stay again
The apartment is perfectly situated with uninterrupted views of the Mourne Mountains and the ever changing Dundrum Bay. Dundrum is small but has a couple of good restaurants and pubs. Fine walks were available right from the door and Newcastle and the Mournes were close. Three bedrooms and three nice bathrooms gave everyone in our party plenty of space.
There is a reason this place has amazing reviews all five stars, they are all true. Five of us stayed here for a week when in town for a rowing competition and we all agree it was perfect. It is a delightful, very clean, apartment on the bay. Quiet and peaceful with views of all the wonderful things in Ireland- farms, water and the Mourne mountains. Three bedrooms all with comfortable beds and water views. Three large bathrooms. Lots of parking. Easy very short walk to a small grocery store (Spar) and local restaurants. A great working off point for being able to travel around and see Northern Ireland. Lots to outdoor activities to do right in the area- a short walk up hill to Dundrum castle, nature and beach walk at Murlough Nature Reservation and short drive to Mourne Mountains with all kinds of walks and hikes. Will definitely be returning.
I have stayed in this property many times. It is an apartment building with a combination of renters and full time residents, in the town of Dundrum, overlooking a large lough and the Mourne Mountains, as well as the Balylkinler region across the lough. It is four miles from Newcastle, a summer resort appealing to couples and families, with a large beach and many ice cream parlors across the street. The area has mountains, many bays for finding local fish dinners, and easy access to Belfast and the Giants' Causeway. Dundrum itself has an excellent budget friendly seafood restaurant, and across the street a more upscale dinner restaurant with excellent cooking and fine wines. It is very close to the Saint Patrick trail which is a big attraction for many visitors.
Dundrum is a small village located on Dundrum Bay, at the foot of the Mourne Mountains. This area is recognised as both an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and one of the finest places on the island of Ireland to see a wonderful range of wildlife. Within 10 minutes drive there is an extensive range of activities, whatever your age or interests, including Golf at the world famous Royal County Down golf course, (a mere 5 minutes away); horse riding, both in the forests surrounding the area as well as exhilarating beach rides; and of course, with such a stunning mountain range, hill walkers are spoilt for choice. However, if you are looking to unwind, then look no further. It’s peaceful location and stunning views encourage you to switch off your Blackberry, unplug the TV and simply watch the fantastic display of sea bird acrobatics, seals bobbing past your window and the ever changing landscape created by the ebb and flow of the twice daily tide – all from the comfort of your balcony.
Golf: Royal County Down is one of the oldest Golf Clubs in Ireland with traditions dating back for more than one hundred years. Situated in Newcastle, where in the immortal words of Percy French, 'The Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea', Royal County Down is not only a fine test of golf but has accompanying scenery that is spellbinding.
Alongside the Championship Links, Royal County Down has a second course, The Annesley Links. Laid out beneath the same massive, almost menacing backdrop, the Annesley Links is nowhere near as intimidating or as formidable a challenge as the Championship Links, but then it was never intended to be. It is a course for everyone.
