Spacious 2 Bedroom house tucked away in a tree-lined lane in Energy Corridor

This charming 2-Bedroom retreat feels like the countryside, but it's right in the heart of the Energy Corridor, only 45 minutes from the airports. Spacious inside, it is also airy outside, set in an acre of private garden. Major energy company offices are 5-10 minutes' drive. Some people leave the car at home and cycle instead.

It's easy to relax and keep fit here. You can go for walks, cycle rides, or runs in the unspoilt George Bush park directly from your front door. If you prefer a paved path, the Buffalo Bayou can take you for miles and access with parking is less than a mile away. You can even kayak along the Buffalo Bayou. Restaurants, food shopping, and stores abound on Highway 6. Charming Grisby Square (5 minutes) has a pub, restaurants, a farmers' market, and its own historic tram transport.

Although you will feel like you're on the farm, nearby Highway 10 or Westpark Tollway can take you to the Medical, Theater, and Museum Districts in half an hour. Listen to fantastic concerts at the Toyota Centre, experience the excitement of major games at the NRG stadium, see Broadway shows, the Barnstorm Dance fest, the Olshan music festival: all in downtown Houston. The wonderful zoo and my favourite Menil Gallery are Houston delights. You can be playing on the beach in historic Galveston within an hour and a quarter. And every winter, the rodeo comes to town, with trail riders, legendary BBQ, livestock shows and affordable evening concerts from big-ticket bands.

Nearby Addicks Park and Ride provides public transportation throughout the city; usefully, you can also access the I10 HOV/Katy Tollway from a dedicated bridge, so no need to cross busy lanes on I-10. Several Health clubs, tennis courts, and movie theaters can be found within 5-10 minutes's drive.

The 1400-sq-foot house layout is wonderful, with an open living room and two large bedrooms (one queen master bedroom and one twin bedroom with a queen pull-out) looking out into the garden, a generous bathroom with walk-in shower, fully-equipped open kitchen and dining room. The living room has a vaulted ceiling, fireplace, and large TV. You will have your own outdoor terrace to enjoy the peaceful setting. All doorways are extra-wide. It is complete with a laundry room just off the kitchen with washer and dryer and sink. There is lots of storage space throughout the house. Bedding is high quality. Beautiful hardwoods run throughout the house providing a warm, inviting feel.

Roomy but Distant

This apartment is spacious, comfortable and has top quality appliances for those who cook at home. The location is very quiet and the hosts were very pleasant. However, the Energy Corridor is a significant distance from downtown Houston with heavy, fast moving, congested traffic most times of the day. It was not ideal for vacationers interested in exploring or visiting places like the Museum of Fine Arts, Minute Maid Park or the convention center which are all in downtown Houston. Getting into and out of the street where the home is located was a daily challenge due to cross traffic.

Perfect!

We just loved our stay here. It was like coming home. Everything we needed was there and our hosts couldn't have been nicer. We even were greeted with a gift of a bottle of red wine. I very much recommend Hidden Valley to anyone visiting Houston.
