Long weekend for Edinburgh Marathon

Great Location but very noisy

Overall the apartment, location, cleanliness, furniture was very nice however the car, bus, truck, police, etc. noise from the streets is very loud. Our kids seemed to be fine with the street noise but it definitely disturbed my wife and I. If you are sound sleepers and don't mind the noise, I would recommend this place however if you are a light sleeper this is probably night the right place. Also, note that the apartment is technically on the third floor and it is quite a hike up. This was fine with us as the extra exercise was welcome after all of the great eating and drinking but if you have trouble with stairs or carrying heavy luggage up the stairs, this will prove a challenge.

Overall a very nice place in a great location and I think a good value. The apartment manager was very accessible and replied quickly. The road noise reduced my score from a 5 or 4 down to a 3.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. I am very happy that you enjoyed the apartment. To clear up a couple of Lints for any new guests looking to book: 1) street level is “ground floor” then next up is “first” then next up is “second” This is the same all over the world with the exception of the USA I hope that’s clear for any new potential customers. 2) the apartment is located right in the heart of the old town overlooking the world famous Royal Mile.. some noise from the street should be expected.. however as Tom says.. only if you are a lite sleeper. I hope that is a useful response.

Great base

It's very well located for walking and touring around Edinburgh and the flat's bigger and lighter than we thought from the photos. Lots of great cafes and restaurants nearby too which makes it an easy place to be based (we only ever used the fridge and kettle! and can recommend the Larder in Blackfriars Street, 100 yards away, for an excellent Sunday breakfast including one for a g/f, d/f person!). The beds are comfortable and shutters help keep out the light etc, although for those of us who are not used to traffic noise as they go to sleep, cars going across cobbles nearby took a bit of getting used to. But we coped OK and much enjoyed our weekend in Edinburgh.
