Overview

About the property

Sleeps up to 8 persons, 2 shower rooms, 2 courtyards for dining outdoors

Villa Rustica is a tastefully renovated charming old stone cottage located just 20m from a pebbly beach and in a quiet neighbourhood that makes it an ideal destination for a relaxing holiday.

It is located in the heart of the old town of Postira which is a quaint fishing village on the north coast of Brac, it is 500m from the restaurants and cafe bars on the harbour.

It comprises a little 2-storey house and a separate 1-bedroom apartment. Enclosed in old stone walls the house and courtyard ensure complete privacy. There are 2 outside dining areas in the courtyard.

You enter the main house into the living room with its antique furniture and original old stone walls. From the living room are stairs to the upper floor where you find a sleeping area for 2. From this area is the main double bedroom. Half way back down the stairs is the shower room. The fully equipped kitchen is off the living room. Outside is a large area for dining.

Just a few steps from the main house entrance is the apartment front door which is accessed off its own terrace. Again the old stone walls have been exposed and renovated giving it a very charming look. You enter into the living/dining/kitchen room with its sofabed and off this is the double bedroom and shower room. Access to the property is from a quiet street.

There is space in the courtyard for one car. Please note that parking is suitable for smaller cars only as the access road is narrow.

Postira is a small town situated in the northern part of the island, 12km from Supetar where the car ferries arrive. The well indented shoreline with its numerous bays makes it very attractive to tourists and locals alike. The beaches are mostly pebbles though the nearby sandy beach of Lovrecina Bay is just 2km away and makes for a great day out with its beach cafe/ restaurant. Postira has an old core in the centre with mosaic tiled streets, narrow lanes, up hills and down hills, detached old houses and hidden gateways. Pleasure boats go from here to the Cetina River on the mainland for rafting excursions, a very enjoyable day out.

You can also explore the island and its beautiful nature or enjoy a day at the beach sipping a cocktil in one of the many beach bars. There is a great selection of restaurants all over the island where you will be able to try tradiotional Dalmatian cuisine but also classic meditteranean and international/ fusion meals.

Alternatively, you can take a 45 minute ferry ride to Split and wonder around the 1700 year old alleyways of the Diocleceans Palace, do some designer shopping, or just promenade along the elegant palm tree lined Riva eating an ice cream! For a quiet holiday come in April-June or September/October. Easy and regular access to the mainland makes it a great place to have not just a relaxing beach holiday + the whole island to explore by scooter, boat or car but also makes for a convenient base from which to visit the historic sites of Split. If walking is your thing, there are plenty of lovely coastal and inland walking trails with many beautiful old stone villages to explore.

Getting to Brac: Take the 45 minute car ferry from Split harbour. Split harbour is 20 kilometres from Split airport. The crossing takes about 45 minutes. The cost per person is approx 5 Euro.

Getting to the Property: You will checkin at the office of Dalmatian Property Management in Supetar. The office is 200 m from the ferry port. We will supply you with photo directions how to get to the apartment. And will give you information about the region, supermarkets, restaurants and cultural events you might visit during your stay. You will feel completely looked after. And in a case you need anything else DPM personnel will be happy to help.

Chilly in october.

  • 4 of 5

Overall a good stay in Villa Rustica one week midst of october 2010.

Friendly and good service from our contact persons Mia and Branca. We arrived one hour past midnight ( agreed in advance ) at the office in Supetar, cleared the payments and got the keys and a photocopied driving guide to the place some 10 km's away. The photos were of cause in daylight and finding the "big blue house on the left hand side" wasn't that obvious. Nor was "the road" a sharp turn to the left hereafter - for the newcommer to the island not familiar with "roads" that narrow ( just enough for one not too broad car). But - but - some 30 min later we actually found the place ( we looked in the first place for a house 15 m's ( that's very close ) from the beach, as announced ) rather some 150 meters from the beach - a detail especially important when looking for something in the dark after midnight.

The villa was very well equipped with all sorts of utilities you need for the stay - dubble up of most things actually since it's really two separate apartments. But for out of season rental as in october we very much missed two essential things :

- Possibility for room heating

- Enough/sufficient blankets for the beds

A holliday can be ever so nice in all other respects but be ruined by freezing in the night.

We managed though by turning the air condition ( in one of the appartments ) on heating and the oven.

Less essential : It would have been even better if one of the washing machines had been changed for a dishwasher.

And a last thing : The white plastic chairs for garden furniture were rather old and cracked and one of the legs broke under me while sitting. No bruises on me though.

Emphasising the missing things makes it sound like a unrecommendable place witch is not at all my conclusion - just a suggestion of things to improve.
