The charming sunlit rustic cottage is set in the green just few 100m from the historical village of Celle dei Puccini. The house has a large terrace where guests can enjoy outdoor eating or relax in the sun. This rustic house for rent sleeps 4 and is composed of a Tuscan feature kitchen with fireplace, a living room and a WC on the ground floor and 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the 1st floor. Immersed in the wood and the breathtaking countryside this vacation house has been renovated in simple rustic style maintaining everything as it was in the past. It is a perfect retreat for relaxation or as a base for exploring the natural beauties, the small towns and the culture of the Serchio Valley and the Garfagnana. The house is situated just 30km from the luxurious beaches in Versilia. For culture and shopping, Lucca and Florence are within easy reach and Pisa airport is just 45 min away.
Hi, I´m Vala. I take care of the house for Angus ehf, our company in Iceland. Other than that I am an olive farmer in the hills above Lucca and I love everything italian although i am a thoroughbred Icelandic viking. Hope to see you in Italy!!
This cottage in Pescaglia valley was our reason to come to Italy in the first place. We bought it as our summerhouse in 2004 and renovated it ourselves with many trips back and forth from the land of ice and fire. How much fun!! You can see some of the renovation pictures on this website: http://tenutaadeo.shutterfly.com/pictures/8
In our minds this is a perfect little spot to enjoy peace and quiet but still be able to visit all the great sites in the north of Tuscany, the most beautiful place of Tuscany in my opinion!!
We had a fantastic time and the area was beautiful. The only downside is that we should have stayed for 2 weeks not 1!! The cottage was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed and a few we didn't in the shape of a few scorpion visitors - thank you for warning us about them!!
Vicky and Farah were very helpful and knowledgable about the area - thank you to them for looking after us.
Visited lots of places - Siena, Florence, Pisa and lovely Lucca. A fabulous first trip to lovely Italy and I hope we will return.
Thank you once again!
A lovely, spacious and quiet villa. All you could need for a holiday. We loved it! Very peaceful. Nearby in Borgo a Mozzano there is a lovely public pool which we used plus a local supermarket and shops in Bagni di Lucca. The restaurant Molin della volpe is amazing which is a two minute drive from the villa, we went three times. Plus they do take away pizza and even takeaway "fizzy wine" which we found to be very nice. I recommend the lamb chops and the chips (French fries) are homemade.
The villa has a spacious upstairs bathroom/wc with a good shower, there's also an added bonus of a downstairs wc. Both bedrooms are large, the double single bedroom has a large three drawer chest for clothes plus a couple of shelves and a small bedside unit. The main bedroom had two bedside units plus a clothes tree and a couple of shelves. This was the only slight downside, a single wardrobe would have been useful especially as there is plenty of room for one. All the beds were very comfortable and the sheets etc clean and crisp. Lovely fluffy white towels too!
Overall very nice and good communication with the owner. We would definitely stay again.
The house is secluded and private. You hear birds and a little stream nearby and you're surrounded by nature (in fact, sometimes a little nature pops in!). There are plenty of great places nearby, not least Lucca, which is full of great sights and gelati. Down the road (walkable) from the house is a very good restaurant - we went twice during our week.
Better air conditioning to counteract the very hot August nights would have made this house perfect for us.
We spent a week in this beautiful restored stone house. It was absolutely amazing, with fireflies by night and geckos by day. The house is perfectly located with only a 20 minutes drive to Lucca and a fantastic restaurant just down the road.
The quit nights on the patio with a glass of nice Tuscan red wine is beyond description.
I would most definitely hire this house again :o)
We really enjoyed our week in August 2009. The weather was great so we didn't move far from the fab pool in Bagni Di Lucca. The restaurant in the nearby village, can't remember the name but it's the only one with a little shop was lovely. The house was well equipped and charming in it's Tuscan style. We would have liked a fact file in the house that listed nearby restaurants, places to visit, good drives etc, that would have been very handy. The owner, Vala was so helpful and even lent us her iron!
All round we would recommend this house, if you like unspoilt countryside and peace and quiet, it will be perfect. Nearby Lucca is worth a visit especially to cycle around the walls, but beware the beaches on the coast, where you do get shooed away unless you have paid, so stick to the pool in Bagni, chairs are free the sunloungers are a little extra.
Have a happy holiday.

Casa Casciani is located few 100 meters from the historic village of Celle dei Puccini in the Pescaglia valley. The vacation house for rent sits on a hillside facing south admidst the chestnut trees. There are 2 very good restaurants in close proximity to the house, the small grocery shops in the towns up and down the valley and the next supermarket is 10 min away. Situated just 25 min from the walled city of Lucca, the lost gem of Tuscany, and only just 30km from the luxurious beaches in Versilia. Florence and Siena are within easy reach and Pisa airport is just 45 min away. For lovers of enduro riding the Garfagnana valley is heaven. There are organized trips in the area and it is a perfect opportunity to mix with a holiday before or after an incredible riding experience
