Photos and Description of this 7 bedroom holiday home in Wauchula - Peace River Valley Ranch

Perfect for Weddings, Family Reunions and Corporate Retreats!

The Peace River Valley Ranch is now available for your private enjoyment! We have over a square mile of 'Old Florida' property for you to explore and over a mile of frontage on the Peace River. There are miles of well-maintained trails to walk, bike or drive on. Two canoes and two kayaks are available for your use, included in the rental rate. We own the land on both sides of the Peace River, adding to the sense of privacy. When you enter through the front gate, you will pass our 'Jeep Dock' where we keep our vehicles, and then our barn. Down the road about a mile is the 'River House' located directly on the Peace River. It has two bedrooms and a loft above the living room, as well as two screen porches, an expansive deck looking over the river and a fire pit. It's not fancy, but it's comfortable and includes modern amenities like flat screen televisions with DirecTV, WiFi and a stereo system with an iPod/USB connection and satellite radio (The TV in the River House was updated to an 80' flat screen in December 2014). If you have a larger group, we have a small guest cabin behind the River House that will accommodate two additional guests and a four-bedroom guest house (the 'Lodge') that sleeps eight, located about 1/4 mile from the River House. There is no additional rental charge for the use of the guest cabin or lodge--only the cleaning fee varies. We also have an area for large gatherings near the barn with a covered area and picnic tables underneath that provide seating for over fifty people. We have hosted quite a few weddings already and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss having yours here (an event fee of $500 applies to weddings and other events with more than 20 people, and we limit all gatherings to a maximum of 50 people to lessen the impact on the property). If you have horses, you are welcome to bring them with you. We do not supply equestrian equipment, but we do have stalls available in our barn and plenty of room for your trailer. No matter the size of your party, you will have exclusive use of The Peace River Valley Ranch during your stay--our other accommodations will be left vacant. Please note, guests are welcome to use our shooting range, but NO HUNTING IS ALLOWED. Please note that the Peace River Valley Ranch is located approximately one hour and fifteen minutes from Disney World and about one hour and forty minutes from Downtown Orlando. Also, please note that our golf carts are no longer available for use, but guests are welcome to bring their own.

About Charles Frederick

Our family used to lease the land that is now the Peace River Valley Ranch for hunting back in the 40's and 50's. In the early 70's, we acquired title to the original 653 acres and have added adjacent parcels over the years, including an orange grove that abuts the property. We no longer hunt the Peace River Valley Ranch and now treat it as a game preserve and a private getaway for family and friends.

Charles Frederick purchased this house in 1972

Why Charles Frederick chose Florida

This is 'Old Florida' at its best. We live in Orlando and this is our escape when we need reminding of how Florida used to be. From the windmill to the lilly pond, the grass fed cows and our 'retired' horse and donkey, you will get a real ranch experience. The rest of the property is kept in as natural condition as possible to encourage wildlife and offers great opportunities for nature photography.

What makes this house unique

Where else are you going to find a property offering over 700 private acres of land and a mile of riverfront to explore?

Perfect for reunions or corporate retreats, with a large event area with eight picnic tables under a tin roofed pavilion.

1st Family Vacation with the whole clan

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for the opportunity for us to have a family stay-cation with all 28 of us. Having enough bedrooms for all the married couples and extra space for air mattresses for the kids and singles is hard to find. Another lodge or two would be awesome for growing families (**hint, hint =D ). Everyone had a blast from the gun range, fishing, exploring the area, swimming in the river, having a large enough eating area for our group . . .and probably a few more things I'm forgetting! Mike, the grounds caretaker, was very helpful and always available and ready to meet our needs! Looking forward to our 'next' stay at the ranch!!!!

Incredible property

  • 5 of 5

I almost want to write a bad review to keep this amazing place a secret haha! This was my second time coming to peace river with a new group of friends and some that had been on our first trip. Charles and his family have done an incredible job with the property. For such a large property it is kept in incredible shape. All the roads and trails are groomed so it is incredibly easy to navigate the property even at night. The main house and lodge are a real treat to stay in with comfortable beds and unique bathrooms. The views from the main house are incredible and the amount of wild life you see is just surreal (deers, hogs, gators, etc). Everyday is a complete adventure whether we were paddle boarding up the river, shooting at the gun range, hiking, playing kickball by the river, driving in jeep around the property, etc. The real challenge is deciding what to do, because there is so much! I cannot say enough positive things about the place, there is just something for everyone. Every person that was on the trip whether they stayed in one of the houses or camped outside told me they had an incredible experience. Charles is incredibly easy to communicate with and answered all my questions and made a lot of great recommendations. There is also a groundskeeper Mike who was very friendly and helpful. Overall incredible property and very cool owners. I hope to come back soon!

Beautiful, exciting, peaceful, all are yours at the PRVR

  • 5 of 5

Our third visit to the Ranch was as exciting as the first. The grounds, all 700 acres are yours to explore with a well maintained trail system for biking or hiking. This environmental preserve has old Florida habitat full of wildlife, old growth oak, and cypress. The river front house is beautiful, the interior lodge for your guest is great. Once you enter through the front gate and follow the winding gravel road, you leave the world behind. The river is different every time. Sometimes water is high and flowing fast and other times lazy and low proving fossil hunting a bonus for all. The owners and their ranch caretakers do an excellent job to accommodate their guest for a beautiful experience. We appreciate the owners sharing their family's 700 acre home and preserve with us. All you need is a great menu with your cooler full of food, leave the lap top in the bag and escape to refresh yourself in the beauty the Big Guy has given to all of us to care for. Thanks again and we will be back for another great adventure with friends, family and lots of river fun. Bennet/Nancy

We have stayed twice at the ranch and just booked two more getaways for 2016! We have always looked for a place to stay with our teenage boys and dog (hard to do with kids and todays technology keeping their interest away from the outdoors and family time) Well we finally found it at the ranch! Our boys not only put their phones down they forget to even look at them. Fishing, kayaking, Tubing, Hiking, cooking outside on the open fire, getting lost looking at nature and wildlife has all of our attention. 700 private acres and a lodge away from the main house with pool table and ping pong as well as lodging gives us all our space and time together!! Also, our dog can run off leash , play in the river and be included in everything we do since there is no one for miles and miles to disturb our favorite quiet retreat! If you want peace, quiet, outdoor relaxation and can handle being alone with nature, wildlife and your family you will love it here!!!!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review. I agree that the ranch is a great place for families--it's nice to have all the land to explore and places to gather, but having the buildings located apart from each other also affords some privacy, and that's nice too. And you are right about it being a great place for dogs. We try to bring ours with us when we travel and we've noticed how pet fees can really increase the overall cost, especially on short stays. So we don't charge them! We're delighted that you have booked two more stays in 2016 and we look forward to your return!

Better than expected. !!! :)

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at Peace River Valley Ranch for my mother’s 85th birthday. All of us were overwhelmed with the beauty of this property. The houses are very secluded, quiet and serine. The pictures do not do the place justice. The River House is so pretty. It is larger than we expected. Plenty of room for large families, a wonderful kitchen, lovely screened in porch to sit and watch the river, and a very large deck. Families can fish, kayak, canoe, play out door games; go on nature walks and other fun family activities. Everyone said their beds and rooms were very comfortable, including the beds in the cabin and in the lodge. The bedrooms in the lodge are large, clean and comfortable the lodge is a short walk to the River House. Additionally, Mr. Fredrick the owner and Mike the property manager are very nice people. All questions asked by email or phone it is answered right away and deposits and payment were very easy to make.

I could go on and on about how wonderful the Peace River Valley Ranch is, but one would have to stay there to truly get an understanding of its beauty. Our family is already making plans to visit again.
