We have always enjoyed the peace and privacy of a country setting, but wanted the convenience of urban living. PondView Cottage offers the best of both...guests can enjoy the quite of the country, yet be downtown Lexington in a matter of minutes.
It's close proximity to Interstates I-75 and I-64, Hamburg Pavilion, downtown Lexington, the Kentucky Horse Park, Keeneland, Bluegrass Airport, and renowned horse farms make PondView Cottage the ideal vacation base for visitors.
Pondview was the perfect choice for our family vacation! During our stay we visited the Kentucky Horse Park and also enjoyed a Lexington Legends Baseball game. The location was perfect and surrounded by beautiful horse farms. Our kids loved fishing in the on-site pond, and enjoyed catching lightning bugs in the backyard while the adults relaxed on the patio. The home was very clean and beautifully decorated. We cooked and/or grilled all of our meals and found the kitchen to be stocked with all of the supplies we needed. Our family loved our comfortable stay at Pondview and would certainly return!
We absolutely loved our stay at PondView. The location was excellent -- nestled among the beautiful horse farms, but yet only minutes from downtown. The drive to the Kentucky Horse Park was a snap.
The house itself felt like it had been professionally decorated. Overall, it had that "vacation house" vibe inside with all kinds of great little touches. It was extremely clean compared to other rentals. It handled four adults and two children easily, and it had plenty of supplies for cooking. We really enjoyed the game table and the back porch. We grilled out twice and sat outside every morning.
David and Phyllis were easy to work with. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.
We were more than comfortable and enjoyed all the amenities Phyllis and David provided. We are grateful for their generosity.
My family had a fabulous time staying in this home! This was a first trip to Kentucky for my born-and-raised -in -Los Angeles grandchildren. In fact, their first visit to a rural area. Although the cottage is within easy driving distance of downtown Lexington, you feel like you are completely out in the country as you are amongst the gorgeous horse farms. The setting was idyllic.
The house itself is beautifully decorated and incredibly clean. I am that person who travels with Pledge Wipes because I'm allergic to dust. But even the wooden window frames were totally clean! We had everything we needed and Phyllis was a very lovely and responsive hostess. I asked some questions about hiking and horseback riding before I arrived and Phyllis wrote up the information, leaving it waiting for me in the house when we arrived.
This was a very special experience for me and my family… I hope to return here!
My husband & I spent a week in early June at the pond view cottage and just loved it. We chose Lexington because we wanted to see the horse country and tour some Kentucky bourbon distilleries. I was looking for a place to relax & experience the landscape and the culture of the area, without the traffic and noise of a city location. Pond View cottage was the perfect choice. It sits on a charming tract surrounded by thoroughbred horse farms, perfectly manicured pastures and endless expanses of stack stone and wood rail fencing following the contour of gently rolling hills. We enjoyed coffee on the rustic patio each morning and quiet time each afternoon with a view of horses grazing nearby.....really the best Kentucky has to offer. The cottage was immaculately clean and well decorated with every kitchen necessity. Beds were comfortable, too. It was great to be in the country, but yet so close to everything we wanted to see. And the drive through back country roads around the cottage were just beautiful. All of the distilleries we wanted to see were no more than 90 minutes away. The Kentucky Horse Park was only about 15 minutes away also. Old Friends Farm, a retirement farm for many well-known race horses, is a must see. What an opportunity to be able to get up close & hand feed carrots to these majestic animals. A trip to Churchill Downs was made more exciting when we noticed a horse from a farm that we passed each day near the cottage, bet on him & came up winners. It was a great trip, thanks in good measure to David and Phyllis and the warm welcome they extended.
What turned out to be a Mother/Daughters wkend, was perfect in this pretty, better-than-the-pictures cottage! It was so gorgeously decorated! One thing that impressed me the most was truly how well-stocked the kitchen was! We cooked in most meals and it is one of the best ones of all my yrs renting vacation homes! Very hospitable hosts. A great place to have been to see in the new year!
