About Heather Pitschka

Steve and I (Heather) have lived in Duluth for the past 17 and 12 years respectively. We call it home now and have a tough time seeing ourselves living elsewhere. Lake Superior has a draw and we've been mesmerized since moving here. We both love the water and spend a significant amount of our free time surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Both of us have caught a muskie out of our canoe a stone's throw away from our house on Minnesota Point. We've also been able to surf every month of the year! Although I'd recommend a wet suit Fall/Winter/Spring. We love this area and always look forward to coming home when we've gone on vacation.

What makes this house unique

You'll have direct access to the largest freshwater lake in the WORLD (Lake Baikal in Russia is largest by volume, Lake Superior is largest by surface area)!

You are 5 blocks away for the farthest inland port in the world.

You are 5 blocks away from one of the largest lift bridges in the United States. There you can view Ocean and Great Lake ships from less than 100 feet as they enter and leave the port.

Minnesota Point is surrounded by water and the Aerial Lift Bridge is the only point of access by land. You are essentially on a island!

Vacation Home!!!

  • 5 of 5

Heather and Steve have a very comfortable and adorable home in a great location. We walked to and fro from Canal Park about 2-3 times almost every day. The beach is few steps away and we were at the busiest time of the year (Tall Ships weekend approaching), but it was easy to have relaxed beach time. The home is very well equipped with necessary items in the kitchen and thru the home. View from the kitchen and bedroom on the 2nd floor is amazing. We watched the sunrise from the bedroom which was amazing! Our 18yr olds were very excited of the huge VHS collection. Enjoy the 5 shower head (main level) and the clawfoot tub in the bathroom (2nd level)- FABULOUS!! Heather was very prompt in her communication.

Good local drink Vikre is just across from the bridge. Bent Paddle Brewery has great beer. Must go to Duluth Grill for Brunch! For a good elegant dinner – highly recommend Lake Avenue Cafe , Northern Waters Smokehaus has amazing sandwiches. Hole in the Wall eats – Coney Island Gyros (Superior Street), Uncle Loui’s Café. If you go to North Shores – go to Betty Pies and get their pie shake!! They blend the pies – AMAZING!

Great stay at a great place.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay. The location right on the beach and a short distance to Canal Park made it so we drove only once during our 5 night stay. We visited the beach daily and on nice days multiple times. We enjoyed the air hockey, darts, and foosball a great deal. We tried the sauna once also. It was very convenient to have the washer and dryer. The beds and rooms were nice and the house obviously had been updated and done well. We ate breakfast and dinner at the house each day. After we watched a movie from the house colection. They are older but there were a lot we liked. We would definitely stay there again.

You need to stay in this beach house!

  • 5 of 5

Look no further, this is the house you NEED to rent in Duluth! It is perfect for you and your family and/or friends! My husband and I stayed for a week with our eight-year-old twin daughters, and the house was loved by all of us. My husband and I loved the kitchen. It is equipped with everything you need. The appliances are top notch! We ate most of our meals at the house and used the gas grill often. Heather had beautiful plates, utensils, cups, serving pieces, dish towels, etc. for us to use. My daughters loved the air hockey table, foosball table and large chalkboard in the basement. I brought coins from home, and, if the girls beat mom or dad, they earned some coins for their spending bags. The five-headed shower and clawfoot bathtub are dynamite, and both make it easy to relax! Heather also has bath and beach towels for you to use--one less thing to pack! The beach is just out the backyard fence, and it is jaw-dropping! We all had so much fun playing in the sand, collecting rocks and splashing in Lake Superior. Heather also offers a wide selection of movies and books to enjoy. The leather couch and love seat were just what the four of us needed to curl up and relax after a day of playing in Duluth. I would DEFINITELY return to Heather's beach house, and I hope you choose this house to rent. You will be so glad you did!

Loved it!

The song sums it up perfectly: "Our house is a very, very, very fine house! " Heather is amazing, and all their beach houses are nicely done. Pick any one of her beach houses...you won't be disappointed, but you WILL be back!

If we have a chance to return to Duluth, we will definitely stay at Minnesota Point Beach House 1

  • 5 of 5

We were very happy with the house and setting. We hadn't realized how close we were to the Lake and were thrilled by that. The house is very attractive, well-designed and maintained and very comfortable. We watched videos from the bookcase and also found a fun puzzle to put together. The kitchen was well supplied and we loved looking out at Lake Superior while cooking.

The owners left a lot of information regarding the house, what to do in the area, etc.. We had an "amazing" breakfast at Amazing Grace. We loved walking along the beach and even went to a movie. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone.

Great Beach Cottage

  • 4 of 5

Very clean and cosy. We love the location and Heather (the owner) is very responsive. We have stayed here multiple times and will return. There is a very nice well equipped kitchen. We bring serving bowls, a few of our favorite kitchen tools and placemats if we are planning a special meal.

In summer there is a nice deck with gas grill.

The beach is just a few steps from the back door!
