We've lived here at the lake for several years in the house next door to The Lake Cottage and think it's the best place on the planet. We love the peace and quiet and enjoy watching the herons fishing along the shore and listening to the song birds and lake loons, seeing the eagles soaring above, and the squirrels and foxes scurrying pass. Plenty of migrating birds also stop in for a while such as seagulls, pelicans, several kinds of ducks, geese, and others. We also love watching the tug boats, barges, all kinds of other boats and yachts, and the occasional paddle-wheeler or ship pass by. While every season of the year has it's own benefits and pleasures, the trees in bloom in the springtime, the summer is great, of course, but we love it here in the fall best. The crisp cool nights, a warm fire in a fire pit, the hot chocolate, the amazing colors of the changing leaves, the migrating birds, the squirrels gathering acorns, the parade of boats and yachts passing by heading south for the winter, taking a walk down the country lane and enjoying the peace and serenity of the lake. We love it here!
Darryl and Deanna purchased this cabin in 2012
Lakefront homes here rarely come on the market. When this one did, we thought it might be great for our kids and grandkids to have a place near us when they come to stay at the lake for a while as well as a way to share the wonders of the area with other folks and pick up a little additional income in the process. There are only ten lakefront homes on the main channel here on this side of the bay all located on a quaint country lane. This is a nice quiet community in one of the most beautiful areas of the huge lake. Kentucky Lake is the largest man-made lake east of the Mississippi River when measured by surface acres: 184 miles long, 2 miles wide where we live, 160,309 surface acres, and with 2,380 miles of shoreline. Within sight of this lake cottage are several uninhabited islands about a mile away. Also, if you have an ATV, bring it & check out the trails in the forest at the end of the lane. About a mile from the cottage by water there is a small marina in the bay with a restaurant, convenience store, and fuel.
Welcome to Paradise! Just sit on the deck or screened porch or on the patio and listen to the birds singing and the waves lapping along the shore while looking out over the lake. Watch the eagles soaring, the pearl divers sorting bags of muscles, the boats zipping across the water. Or wander down the path a few feet to your very own private dock in front of the cottage with it's pier and large covered boat slip, it's floating platform for sunning, fishing, swimming, or just sitting and relaxing. There's no high pressure or rushing about here. No place you've got to be. Just enjoying nature at it's best. Also on your dock is a canoe, 2 kayaks, and a paddleboat for your daytime use (weatherpermitting). Lifejackets are also on hand. Explore or fish the nearby waters along the shoreline, or in the bays. Explore the shoreline and pick up a few seashells (or are they called lake shells?). Take a quiet walk down the country lane and enjoy the view and observe the birds, plants, and animals. Or just sit on the deck and enjoy watching the birds visiting the birdfeeders or hummingbirds zipping around. In the evenings, stop everything, get your favorite beverage, sit back, and experience one of the most amazing sunsets you've ever witnessed. As darkness approachs, lay in the hammock on the front deck and check out the billions of stars up above or weatherpermitting, light a fire in one of the two firepits and roast some marshmellows and hot dogs or fire up the grill and cook something really special. p.s. On the 4th of July, weatherpermitting, fireworks can be seen from your dock in multiple locations around the lake. Welcome to Paradise!
Words cannot start to describe this amazing home. Life is way too short not to experience this breathtaking and magical place on the Tennessee River. My husband and I will be talking about it for days and months to come. Truly a place you've got to see to believe!
My two brothers and I stayed four nights at the Lake Cottage in Oct 2016 and had a great experience. We are all retirement age (but not fully retired yet). They drove from Ohio and I drove from Dallas (half way for each). We arrived on Thursday and left Monday. The Cottage was perfect for us and spotlessly clean. Everything we needed was there - we brought just food and cloths. Beds were very comfortable. The kitchen well equipped and ready for almost any kind of vacation food prep -- everything was in good condition. Our main activitity was fishing and we fished from the large dock and from the foot powered pontoon boat and the canoe. We caught a variety of fish, topped off by a 3 1/2 pound largemouth bass caught from the dock that we grilled on the nice Weber grill for dinner one night. We enjoyed campfires and conversation every night on the patio and watched the beautiful sun sets. Darryl has great communication and was very responsive to our many questions. His driving directions to the Cottage were excellent but suggest arriving in daylight to make the drive in a bit easier. For supplies and food there is a super Walmart and fishing tackle/bait shop about a 20 minute drive away. We have already started talking about our next get away at the Lake Cottage !!!
Every thing was just the property owners said it was . We loved the week stay at the lake and will return next year and ask more family members to come along.

I felt so at home!!!! My brother and sister in law Cathy got there and we all just decided to stay put!!!! Too relaxing to leave!!!!! We fished!!!! The guys took out the paddle boat!!!!! Sunsets were breath taking!!!!!!!!! Beds really comfy!!!! Everything you could possible need was there! Except a better way to do the steps!!!!! I can say on a scale of 1-10!!!!!!! I give you a 20!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you soooo much!!!!!!!! Memories awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Lake Cottage! It was everything it was advertised to be. The owners were very responsive and friendly in our e-mail correspondences. The Cottage was clean and well stocked. The deck was a dream! We ate breakfast on the deck overlooking the lake and then watched beautiful sunsets from the deck in the evenings. There were only 2 of us but I was impressed with how, even though it was a small cottage, it was well equipped in every way to handle 6 as advertised - even down to the detail of 6 hooks in the bathroom. It was very quiet and peaceful and having access to the pontoon peddle boat allowed us to get out on the water and enjoy the beauty and solitude out there as well. We stopped at the Walmart in Waverly before coming to the cottage to stock up on food etc. and figured we could go in again the next day if we found we needed anything since it's fairly close by. However, once we got to the cottage we never left again until it was time to go home. It was so peaceful and relaxing that we didn't want to leave our little haven from the hustle and bustle of the world.
This lovely place makes me want to sell my house and move to the lake. Loved the dock and recreation options provided! We fished from the dock and caught 2 catfish, several yellow bass, and lots of green sunfish/bluegill....also a turtle! Great fishing for kids....use worms.
The screened in porch and all of the small details were quite a treat. The bed was very comfortable and everything was so clean. I love how the sun rises behind the house and trees giving summer time shade at the dock until late morning. Definitely want to return!
This lakefront cottage is located approximately a fifteen minute drive from Waverly (and 15 minutes from the nearest Walmart, gas stations, restaurants, hospital, etc.) and about a 90 minute drive from Nashville. Richland Harbor is generally a nice quiet lakefront community. The area is noted for it's great fishing and boating. The cottage faces west for the perfect sunset viewing. While other lakefront houses are located nearby, the lake lots here are large and provide each home a significant amount of privacy. The owners of the cottage live in the adjacent lakehouse . There is a public forest at the end of the lane, just half a mile from the cottage, providing a great place for hiking or 4-wheeling. Examples of wildlife we often see here: eagles, hawks, owls, herons, white pelicans, seagulls, loons, canadian geese, ducks, foxes, river otters, squirrels, chipmonks, deer, turtles, lots of colorful song birds and more. It's amazing to sit on the deck and watch these birds and animals. The large herons have wingspans which are over six feet, and the bald eagle's wingspans are over seven feet, and even larger are the white pelicans passing through in the fall and spring which have wingspans up to ten feet.
