We are a family of seven, with extended family in three states, and we have a very very busy lifestyle. We look forward to getting away and simplifying our lives, even for just a short time on extended weekends. Hiking, searching for old relics or interesting rocks, and taking in the sights recharges us to tackle our routines back home.
Loran Kraljevski purchased this house in 2006
We bought this property because we fell in love with the wide open spaces of northern Arizona, the wonders of the Grand Canyon and other local surroundings and destinations, and the old-fashioned charm of Williams and route 66.
We built the home to capture the fantastic westward sunset views, and to provide a place for our large family to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily routines, and gather together in a simpler environment.
Although all of the rooms are large, we wanted to make the home feel cozy, so we added custom rustic touches throughout the house. Our favorite features in the living area are the stone fireplace, built-in bookcase, and reclaimed wood accents.
To bring character to the modern kitchen, we added a custom-built stove hood, reclaimed light fixtures, and a 10' long antique oak table reclaimed from an old church that we now use as an island for cooking preparation or just simply to gather around.
We added an old-fashioned reclaimed claw foot tub into the guest bathroom, and decorated with a touch of old country French style.
The master bedroom includes a fireplace accented with reclaimed tile and wood. Wood moldings, wood windows, solid wood doors, and wood floors throughout the house add to the cozy charm that we wanted to achieve.
We loved the house and the location. It's still a 45 min to an hour drive to grand canyon. The property had everything that we could have needed, from extra towels to a well stocked pantry. The big livingroom and kitchen is perfect for a two families to share. Only issues we had were with the dirt road to the property, the cars were pretty dusty by the time we were done going back and forth on it a few times , and its a little tricky in the night with visibility pretty low. We did see some work starting on the road so hopefully the next time we rent this property , it wouldn't be so bad :). We love watching the sunrise and sunset from the deck , it was better than at the Grand canyon. the kitchen was well stocked, but i think the dishwasher and the microwave needs some repairs, the dishwasher ran for over two hours. The bed were comfortable and there was extra linens. The view for the master bedrooms was breathtaking.
Thank you Loran
I would totally recommend this property!
We had a great stay a little ways of the main road but worth it
We found every thing we needed no issues.
Would defiantly recommend to anyone
The first day we awoke to about 3 inches of snow
It was in the 50s and 60s but the rest of our stay
During the day time it was in the 70s and 80s at night it dropped back into the 40s
Saw elk and rabbits just about every day.
Thanks for sharing your home with us Loran and Dana
We had a great time at your home!! Our family was extremely comfortable; spacious bedrooms, large stocked kitchen & a great outdoor firepit!!! I highly recommend visiting Bearizona it's well worth the visit. This was a great, clean & well maintained home that fit our Family Vaca Perfectly!!! Thank you!!!
Great Base for Grand Canyon! Huge and fully stocked house. Large beautiful kitchen! The house was clean. The kids loved playing the piano. The deck was nice and made a good star gazing spot at night. The lights were a bit confusing but we managed. Nothing negative about this place. Even had a relaxing bench swing in the back. Glad we stayed and we plan on coming back! Thanks Loran! You were awesome!
We had a group of 7 adults traveling to the Grand Canyon for a long weekend. This home fit our group well. Was surprised to find out that the owner recommended drinking bottled water at the home only after we had booked the house. I asked the owner and received a response but it was still unclear to me why they recommended bottle water (whether it is the taste of the water or some other reason). It seems like this should be included somewhere in the property description before booking. Otherwise, everything was as described, a nice house, and fun get away.
Everyone in our group really enjoyed the house. It has a great deck and view and all the rooms were nicely decorated. The drive to the Grand Canyon took about 40 minutes, so we were able to enjoy all the sites and hiking. Thanks so much for offering such a wonderful house.
Our hidden gem is situated on 6 acres in the Northern Arizona High Country near Williams, AZ, off of highway 64 (the road to the Grand Canyon). When you turn off highway 64, you enter onto a country gravel road and for the next 1.5 mile drive to our home, you might see elk, deer, free range horses, javalina, coyotes, jack rabbits, and other wildlife that remind you that you're in the beautiful Arizona high country and are surrounded by nature.
When you approach our home on the hill, you will be able to see for miles across the westward horizon. Then step inside the home to over 2,600 square feet of rustic luxury.
Our home is centrally located to the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, and Williams. Williams is located about 20 minutes away on the famous route 66 and has a variety of diners, restaurants and shops. Williams is also the home of Bearizona, the Deer Farm, and the Grand Canyon railway station
The Grand Canyon Railway offers the classic steam train to the south rim of the Grand Canyon, the Pumpkin Patch train in October, and Polar Express in the winter. The south rim of the Grand Canyon is only 40 miles north on highway 64. Flagstaff, home of Northern Arizona University, is 25 miles East. Also nearby is Sedona with red rock scenery and hiking trails. And the Snow Bowl ski resort is nearby for winter snow skiing.
If you want to venture further, you can visit the old mining town of Jerome, or the historical town of Prescott. Or, if you would prefer to stay close to home, you can fish and canoe on Kaibob Lake just 15 minutes from the property, hike in the surrounding area, and view sunsets and star-filled nights off the expansive deck.
