Abernant Barn has been beautifully renovated from a 100 year old stable block into a luxurious holiday home / cottage in the heart of Wales. Wonderfully secluded and set in 8 acres of private pasture, bordered by the River Irfon on one side and the Nant Cerdin on the other. The property includes fishing rights on the banks of the Irfon which runs only metres from the property. The accommodation includes underfloor heating throughout and large lounge with a wood burning stove for those cosy evenings. Outside an under cover decked area with sunken hot tub provides space to relax and BBQ whatever the weather. The village of Llanwrtyd Wells, the smallest town in Britain is only a 10 minute walk away and is well served by three pubs and a local store/garage. The local railway station is a 5 minute walk from the barn where a regular service on the heart of wales line will take you towards Builth Wells or Llandovery.

About Bernard Murphy
I discovered Llanwrtyd Wells during a mountain bike race called the Wobble. The property was a stable block and I just knew it had great potential due to it's unique location. We still spend as much time as we can in Llanwrtyd Wells as a family enjoy the brilliant community and beautiful Cambrian Mountains
Bernard Murphy purchased this Barn in 2012
Why Bernard Murphy chose Llanwrtyd Wells
We fell in love with this property after spending many weekends mountain biking as part of the green events organised by the community of Llanwrtyd Wells. Nestled in it's own 8 acres just 15 minutes walk outside the village and surrounded on two sides by river banks, the property is uniquely positioned.
What makes this Barn unique
With a relaxing sunken hot tub and it is quiet, and secluded, yet only 15 minutes from town with 3 pubs and a shop. Many events are run throughout the year by green-events such as the Man v Horse race and the Real Ale Wobble, a cross between mountain biking and a beer festival.

Amazing and peaceful setting for a weekend break.
Great location and facilities for a quiet weekend away. Good use of space, beautiful views and the hot tub is fab! Would definitley recommend.
Super calm cosy and relaxing cottage
Really lovely home, far exceeded expectations. Everything simple and easy to use. Beautiful secluded and peaceful surroundings. Hot tub was the cherry on the cake. Cottage suited four adults and children really well, will definitely come again. Excellent informative and friendly correspondance from the owner. Many thanks, Jo and family.
We have just returned from a 3 night stay in this beautiful house. Bernard was brilliant both before and during our stay, answering questions that we had really quickly. The house is in a really stunning location, set on acres of land and it is so private. The hot tub is brilliant and we spent many hours relaxing in it. The kids loved the river and rope swing too. We would definitely recommend this house and we would love to return. Thanks Bernard, you have a beautiful house, we couldn’t have wished for more!
Tranquil and peaceful retreat
Fantastic getaway retreat without being too far away from coastal attractions
So glad you enjoyed. Very welcome back anytime.
Perfect weekend away
We had a great stay in the barn! The pictures don't do it full justice, it is completely picturesque and spotlessly clean! The rope swing was lots and fun and it was great to meet the friendly horses in the field behind. The hot tub was perfect. One tip I would say is bring loo roll as we forgot this and did a quick drive to the shop! Thank you Bernard we would love to come back!
The owner was prompt to respond. The house was clean and very spacious. Worth every penny. I will be going back again.
