About tara chappel

Both my husband and myself our in our 40's. We have a blended family of 4 children. We both love the outdoors. My husband and I run a tree and landscape company.

tara chappel purchased this cabin in 2016

Why tara chappel chose Barre

In Feb 2016 my husband was diagnosed with cancer, the week before his surgery I was called out to this property for a tree estimate, while I was there on the estimate I noticed the house was for sale.I asked if I could see the house. Immediately I fell in love with it. I dragged my husband out the same day to see it. And he said if he pulled through his surgery we would buy it as our first retirement home. He pulled through the surgery (big smile)and on 6.2.16 we got a clear scan.. So needless to say he is back working and our retirement is on hold(and we are all happy and thankful)! We currently enjoy every moment of going out to the lake house. From fishing, to kayaking to having friends and family come up.

What makes this cabin unique

The house is steps away from the water, its peaceful. Most days we are the only ones on the water. (there is only 4 other houses that have access to the water). You can kayak down stream and find little outlets of large lilly pads or go up stream and see the beaver damns. There is a rope swing the kids love across the lake from the house, and little islands to explore. There is thousands of acres of conservation land across the water for hiking or biking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is very comfortable and the location is extremely peaceful. We enjoyed using the kayaks, canoe, and paddleboat. Fishing was great. Caught a monster large mouth. We had fun paddling upstream as a family to see the beaver dams and sitting around the fire pit. We took day trips to Boston and Newport. Have to recommend the Stone Cow Brewery in Barre, really neat place and great beer.

Thanks for sharing your home and your hospitality. Tried clicking the link to the review but it gave me an error.

Loved it, most peaceful getaway ever!!!

  • 5 of 5

great location,

lots of outdoor time, to kayak, walk, just sit and relax. plenty of space for meals outside or just sit on the dock and read or relax. nice cozy space indoors for rainy days to play games read, or even nap! not fancy, just perfect to kick back and relax

loved it!!!!!! We saw just 3 other people- form a distance, kayaking on the pond- in the 4 days we were there. so quiet and peaceful, could hear an owl hooting each night. Home is lovely and cozy and plenty of windows so you can still enjoy the views, even when indoors.

We really enjoyed seeing the full moon from the master br.

Beautiful location, comfy cottage

  • 4 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay. It was hard to believe it was only 90 minutes from Boston because it was so quiet. The lake had lots of water lilies that opened each morning, and we were able to kayak to the end and view a beaver dam.

The beds and couches were comfortable and the fire pit was a great place to gather every evening. Thanks for sharing your house with us!
