What a wonderful stay at this lovely villa! It offered everything we could want and more: quiet streets, lovely cross breezes, close walk to Kamini/Vlychos Beaches and the route to the house has the least steep set of stairs on the island. We wish that we could have stayed forever! Tracy is a wonderful host and it was so appreciated that she met us at the boat docks with donkeys to transport our luggage. We also enjoyed her lovely welcome basket of Greek goodies and wine.
Few tips/takeaways: beds are firm, which we appreciated; there is a drinking water faucet in the house for bottle refilling, though 2 markets are very close by; the washer for clothes was easy to use and a clothesline is out back; air conditioning units are in every bedroom though for a lot of our stay we only used it for particularly hot evenings- the ceiling fans were adequate; we didn't have a bug problem due to lovely breezes but towards the end of our stay we definitely appreciated bug spray when winds died down; we are so glad we brought water shoes for the rocky beaches!
We can't wait to return!
How can you be certain that your expectations will be met when you choose a house on the internet? Well, in this case you can feel perfectly safe - Villa Georgia is exactly what you wish for!
You have a beautiful spacious house, fully furbished, clean and on a wonderful location between the beaches. No noise from discos, total privacy and a fantastic view of the mountain in sunset. Our best memory of last year is when you wake up and hear the donkeys, roosters and horses greet the morning sun. This is real Greece, as mythological as it gets! We'll be back!

My wife and I visited Hydra at the end of September 2010 in search of some downtime and late summer sun.... and we found it. The house was ideally suited for what we were looking for with beautiful verandas where we could read, enjoy the stunning sunsets and cool, comfortable beds. Sunrise meant the delightful sound of the donkeys and cockerels! Being a short walk up the hill from the main port meant we could have the best of both worlds. The owners were very hospitable and helped make the most of our stay, sharing local knowledge and a gentle coastal walk, which uncovered a little gem of a restaurant right next to the sea with wonderful seafood. Thank you, everything was excellent and we look forward to seeing new found friends again soon!
In celebration of our 40th birthdays, 5 girlfriends returned to Hydra after 23 years. We cannot thank the owners Tracy and Damianos for their kindness and hospitality; collecting our luggage by donkey to the house, advice on the new beaches, places to eat, the odd cocktail and some home made wine! The house is beautiful, open plan and light with wonderful views, exceptionally clean, homely mix of traditional and modern, which provided ample space for us all. An added bonus was that we didn't need to carry water bottles to the house everyday, with a wonderful clean water well (excellent for the eco friendly amongst us). Hydra is a wonderful place to relax and the house has the benefits of being situated a 10 minute walk up the steps (great for some gentle exercise after the food and wine!), friendly local shop owners ( a step back in time), welcoming locals and a sense you are part of the community.... hopefully we'll be back before another 20 years pass!
Hydra Island, one of the most UN-spoiled and interesting of the Greek islands, is a small rocky island in the Argo Saronic Gulf. It’s very cosmopolitan, safe and one of the easiest of the Greek islands to get to. Hydra maintains a charm and warmth off the tourist trail. You’ll find a slower pace of life and nothing happens very fast, which is wonderful for downtime. If you are looking for a step back in time and an appetite to experience the ‘real’ Greece then Hydra has lots to offer. The beautiful houses, the beaches in summer and some great walks are just a few of the things the island has to offer. Watch the boats, fishermen in the early morning, the people go by, visit the art galleries and explore the island’s history and quaint shops. As there are no motorized vehicles, it really does have the feel of being left untouched by the modern world although you will find all the ‘real world’ conveniences.
