Photos and Description of this 8 bedroom holiday barn in Ludlow - Wandering William

6 - 7 bedroom property near Ludlow providing accommodation for up to 16 people

Wandering William is an ancient farmstead comprising a magnificent timber-framed barn dating back to the 17th Century which provides fabulous self-catering accommodation for up to 16 people, and an adjoining stone barn (Owl Barn) which provides versatile workshop space.

Tastefully and imaginatively converted in 2002, Wandering William is equipped to a very high standard and offers spacious and comfortable 4 Star accommodation. The property features five oak staircases, two lounges with wood-burning stoves, a large kitchen/dining room, six bedrooms, an additional gallery bedroom and a large courtyard garden.

The Owl Barn, rented separately, is an old stone barn, which has been sensitively restored to create a light, airy space for group activities.

Set amidst pretty countryside, yet within a mile of the historic town of Ludlow, this property provides an ideal venue for extended families or groups of friends to get together for a holiday or celebration.

In addition to the accommodation, we have created two unique and beautiful spaces at Wandering William - the Owl Barn and the Yurt. Both are versatile spaces which can be used for any number of activities including yoga, pilates, tai-chi, art, singing, music and dance, as well as being suitable for lectures, seminars, discussion groups and performances. These spaces may be rented along with the accommodation, making this a fantastic place for a group of people to get together to work on a project, develop new skills or pursue artistic, creative and holistic interests in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere away from the stresses of day to day living.

Perfect family getaway!

  • 4 of 5

This house was the perfect place for a big family get together and weekend in the countryside. It has the ideal location with a short walk in to town, a pub down the road and a supermarket at the end of the road whilst still remaining to feel rural. Perfectly equipped for cooking and BBQs with plenty of space and comfortable lounge areas. Added extras of ping pong table & lots of games for some family fun. We had a super stay! This place has both character and comfort!

With the beautiful hills of South Shropshire framing the town, Ludlow is a gem. Described by the poet John Betjeman as 'the loveliest town in England' , Ludlow is renowned for its narrow streets and pretty historic buildings. Standing in the centre of the town in an elevated setting above the River Teme is the splendid medieval ruin of Ludlow Castle, which plays host to to open-air theatre during the Ludlow festival in June and July as well as being the main venue for the internationally acclaimed Ludlow festival of food and drink in September. Ludlow is also renowned for its food shops and award winning restaurants.

The surrounding countryside is rich in history with a wealth of castles and magnificent National Trust properties to visit. This is also a fantastic area for walking and cycling with the Long Mynd (an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) Offa's Dyke long distance path, and the Black Mountains all close by.
