About Kyle Jean

I have lived in the U.P. for most of my life and I'm so grateful to call it home. I grew up going to the beach and enjoying many different water sports. I encourage all to experience all that Michigan has to offer and especially the Upper Peninsula.

Kyle Jean purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Kyle Jean chose Brimley

This property is situated on one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, Lake Superior. The views are amazing and one can really feel at peace when standing on this property. There are many activities to partake in and just to take in all the surroundings is quite incredible.

Cozy, beautiful view, convenient location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for the better part of a week on our belated honeymoon and we had a very pleasant time. The cabin itself was very comfortable and had all the amenities of home, not to mention a beautiful view of Waiska Bay. The cabin is located conveniently near a number of attractions (such as Tahquamenon Falls, Whitefish Point, and the Soo Locks), as well as innumerable campgrounds, museums, historical sites, state parks, lakes, and casinos (if you're into that sort of thing). There are several places to eat in Brimley, and while you're out and about, you'll never be too far from a diner or pizza joint. The perfect destination for anyone who enjoys a refreshing time north of the bridge.

Just as I expected. Rustic, clean and comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

Great proximity to major eastern UP destinations. Kyle was readily available and quickly made kayaks (and paddles) appear. We enjoyed paddling, fishing, campfires, stars and beautifully lit freighters passing in the night. The Shire was well equipped and made three adults and a 2.5 year old comfortable. Good cable and internet were welcome.

Not all it is cracked up to be.

Would truly give a 0 star rating.

While the area is beautiful the picture of the dog on the beach is deceiving. There is no beach. The dock is in poor repair and when the kids went to get in the water they were scared of the slippery rocks and broken stairs. The linens smelled horrible! Imagine smelling a pillow after a sweaty stinky oily haired person slept on it for a year, that is it. I had to remove most bedding and what I found extra had to be soaked in febreeze. The one quilt had horrible mold stains and for someone who is allergic to mold and has asthma this is a big no. I get rustic in a cabin but the best features were the TV and Keurig. It looks like literally no other updates to the construction of the place have ever been done. The wiring and outlets alone are very scary and out dated. The fridge had no light and the ice maker and water wasn't even hooked up. Doors had to be propped with rocks because the foundation or construction of the place was on a huge slant. There is no space to put clothes other than hanging which with the spiders on the ceiling was a big no for me. Aside from it being on the water there is really no other positive I can say. We did manage to have a good time since we spent most of it at another rental where my family was and site seeing. This is not a cabin for more than 4 people. I have 2 teenage sons who could not share the small room so one had to sleep on the sofa bed which is another horror story of smelly blankets and lumpy back ache sleeping. I would not recommended nor would I stay there again.

Owner's Response: We are so unhappy to hear about your stay! Although your response is very unfortunate and displeasing. We have corrected the dock stairs. The linens are always clean and we pride ourselves on keeping the cabin as clean as possible. That being said, the cabin is a rustic place and there are things about it that aren't suited for the person who is looking for a luxurious stay. I recommend taking some time to cool down before writing a review like this again. We wish you all the best in the future and thank you for your feedback!

relaxing.. nice views.Water level has risen, so no beach or real access to water.Could only get 1 of three burners on grill to light, so grill was out of service....comfortable beds..typical UP cabin... toilet, fridge, stove, sink and shower all worked so no complaints
