About Donna Brannan

Don, born and raised in Colorado married Donna, a New York Native over 33 years ago. Don has enjoyed the cabin since childhood, hiking, biking, skiing, hunting, fishing, climbing and exploring with his parents. We found a trail behind the cabin where a covered wagon had once tipped over. To this day old glass bottles can be dug up at this site. The trail opens to a large meadow and bubbling stream.

Donna Brannan purchased this cabin in 1965

Why Donna Brannan chose Front Range Colorado

A family jewell passed on, now for others to enjoy as well. Colorado history abounds in the area. It is near Peak to Peak Highway which has the most beautiful sights available on the front range.

What makes this cabin unique

A huge feature is that the back door leads onto the Roosevelt National Forest. Hiking & mountain biking trails are feet away to springs and a nearby river. Wildlife prevails in the area; moose, dear and elk are common. Ghost towns and 4 wheel drive trails surround the area, and are a short drive away.

Just stunning

  • 5 of 5

I took a romantic getaway with my wife and it couldn't have been better. The cabin was so clean. I've stayed at so many cabins where it just isn't taken care properly, although this was not the case. This place is taken care of like home. It was cozy relaxing by the fire and taking in the fresh air. I will be coming to this cabin again it couldn't have been better.

Gorgeous area

  • 5 of 5

The area was beautiful. It was so great being outside of the city. There was a wonderful restaurant\bar, five minutes drive from the cabin that has amazing breakfast! The cabin itself was amazing! It was clean and organized. It felt like home easy to lay back and relax. The kitchen has all you need cook and all the bedrooms have hotel like linens.

I would definitely recommend this cabin to everyone!

Beautiful and perfect comfort for a weekend away

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the cabin was the perfect getaway. Every amenity you could want, clean, modern space. Great deck & grill for relaxing. We brought our 2 dogs and they too were relaxed and enjoyed sleeping in the sun! Beautiful location with the ability to go for long hikes right behind the cabin. It was quiet, safe, and so very perfect. Thank you so much!

Great place to relax or get out and go. Easy access to hiking, skiing, fishing, etc .

  • 5 of 5

This is a great cabin. It is very comfortable and charming. I found the outdoor deck and the screened porch to be where I spent most of my time when I was't off hiking. Watching the humming birds come and go to the feeders on the outdoor deck was a real treat. The cabin is located so close to so many wonderful locations including Rollins Pass, Nederland, Golden Gate State Park, Eldora, Brained Lake, etc. If you are a hiker, skier or fishing enthusiast this is a good base camp. And it is wonderful to come back from a day out to a place where you can fully relax and still enjoy the outdoors, even if it is raining. The cabin also backs to Open Forest space with a trail very near the house, this was a great spot to take my dog for his morning and evening walks. It can be a bit tricky to find once in the neighborhood so GPS is very helpful and I wouldn't want to do it in the dark but once you know where you are going it is a breeze. I was originally hoping for a little more seclusion as you can see the house next door from the deck but once I was settled in it was not an issue. I would rent from Donna again, she is very easy to deal with and quick to respond to any question, she even let me know of a road closure on the day of my arrival so I wouldn't be stuck in traffic. If you are looking for a nice updated cabin, with a great outdoor setting this is the place.

Perfect and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

This cabin/house in the woods was the perfect location for a getaway! We wanted woods and nature, but we still wanted to have the basic amenities, and this cabin was perfect. At night, we couldn't see another light around us. It was just stars and the woods. Donna was responsive and helpful. We would definitely recommend this cabin!

Lovely cabin in a lovely location!!

  • 4 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Dancin' Bear cabin! The owner had great communication throughout our reservation process and our stay and the cabin itself was clean, cozy and met the needs of our family of 4 (with the wonderful bonus of hosting Charlie, our Golden Retriever and 5th family member)!

The location: We loved the remote location of the cabin, the trails just behind are accessible and stunning - beautiful scenery but easy enough for the kids. Good for a short or long hike. It was also wonderful to have privacy and be off the beaten path. Outside of a few dog barks, we heard nothing other than the quiet of the woods during our stay. We also enjoyed the nearby town of Nederland, a great place for kids with the Carousel of Happiness, ice cream and candy shops and a lovely little park with kids fishing pond. One drawback to the location of the cabin for us was that it was a longer drive than we had anticipated to the Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park area (we found the cabin on VRBO by searching Estes Park, it was probably more realistically in the Boulder area).

The Cabin: The cabin was clean, well decorated and well appointed for our stay. It sleep 4 easily (our daughters 4 and 9 in one bedroom together) and the master bed was comfortable. We did find that the temperature in the master was difficult to control d/t the ceiling fan only working with the light on (remedied by unscrewing the light bulbs so we could use it at night) but with the fan and window open it was much better. The dishwasher and washer/dryer were very nice additions - it was wonderful to be able to come home with clean laundry! We really only had two suggestions for improvement - although the cabin is equipped with Netflix, we at times found this unusable d/t the internet speed. It was a bummer to be in the middle of a movie and have to turn it off because of the stop/start. Also, the cabin currently has just one three-seat sofa in the living room area. It was difficult for our family to get comfortable in the evenings without more seating. I would recommend the addition of a love seat or chair, or a sectional sofa to accommodate more guests in the TV area.

Overall: We would recommend the cabin to individuals and families traveling to this area. The owner was top notch and the cabin provided a memorable stay!
